Came to the Red Mountain Grill while on vacation. It's not a bad place to grab a meal. It's kind of what you’d expect from a nice chain restaurant. The food is pretty good, but not outstanding. The service is friendly and your order will come out on time.

What makes this place stand out a bit is the welded metal folk-art everywhere, from floor to ceiling. It'll make you stare for a bit and say "hm. interesting." The large windows give you a very nice view of the mountains and trees.

Here's what we ordered as seen in my pictures:

Crispy fried calamari ($15.95) High Country Elk Chili ($6.50) The Ultimate French Dip ($21.95) BB & B Burger ($22.95) Kraft Mac 'n Cheese ($11.95) from Kid's Menu Fettuccini Pasta w/ butter parm sauce ($11.95) from Kid's Menu Chocolate Chunk Brownie Sundae ($11.95)

Again, the food was good. Not terrific, but good. For example, I was not sure what to expect from the elk chili, but it tasted just like any other bowl of restaurant chili. And, items were a bit pricey for what they are ($12 for Kraft mac 'n cheese, $12 for a mass-produced brownie and ice cream). I mean, I get it, we're in a prime vacation spot, you've got to have prices to match. The Ultimate French Dip is described as "Thinly sliced prime rib piled high on a French baguette, sweet caramelized onions, Gruyére cheese, horseradish cream sauce, served with a side of au jus for dipping". That's a nice bit of marketing. It wasn't as flavorful as they made it out to be. I was really hoping for a punch of horseradish, but it just wasn't there...

However, the BB & B Burger, was probably the only dish nearly worthy of it's price. It was very good: a "Buffalo burger, thick cut applewood smoked bacon, Bourbon BBQ sauce with caramelized onions and Gouda cheese." In my opinion, the burgers are the best options on the menu. My wife had the BB & B Burger, but I would have chosen the "H & S Kickin Chicken" with Nashville hot sauce, pickle chips, cheddar and coleslaw on the side.

We came here on our vacation, however, the Red Mountain Grill did not, unfortunately, become one of our core memories. It's a solid 4...

The restaurant itself is beautiful and the food was good but the service was so terrible that we will never return. I have worked as a server/ bartender for more than 15 years so I am probably the most patient and understanding customer you will ever get. Not sure the reason but they were out of pizza, pretzels and tots which was disappointing. The server was definitely busy so we gave him a lot of grace for not bringing drinks forgetting our app (it came after the meal was about half done) the worst part was my dad ordered wings ($22) which came out with the wrong sauce so they were taken back... no big deal until we had to remind the server 3 times about them and the correct ones finally brought out luke warm 35 minutes later! Everyone else at the table was finished eating. Still we didn't complain but the server was completely unapologetic about the whole thing. Even with everything going wrong a simple apology would have made everything better. To make matters worse the bill came and we were charged for kid drinks that were supposed to be complimentary when kids meals were ordered and we were charged for the wings which shocked me granted how they were messed up and then took forever to get. We weren't looking for free stuff but having worked in the industry for as long as I have it surprised me that they wouldn't want to take care of the customer. We did ask that the kids drinks were taken off but did didn't complain about the wings. Paid and left. Sadly we will...

Beautiful and cozy interior, but the food was mediocre at absolute best. We came in for a quiet “rehearsal dinner” before we elope tomorrow and considering the steep, steep prices, we really expected better than bland, flavorless salsa and queso. Hope you enjoy green onions, because they used them as a secret bizarre garnish on both the entrées. My fiancé gave his meal such critiques as “I’ve had better ribs at Chili’s, and they microwave theirs.” The best part? When normally grin-and-bear-it fiancé actually told the waitress he didn’t enjoy his meal, she sent the manager over…who promptly rejected my fiancé’s criticism of his ribs and said “I had them yesterday and they were good, so…” He ended up comping the entrée, and when the waitress returned with the bill she apologized and informed us that the manager had told her originally “there’s nothing we can do, he didn’t say anything during the meal.” Oh, you mean the whole five minutes he tried to choke down the rubbery and tasteless meat he was served before giving up completely? I guess that’s the rule now. I’m not someone who believes the customer is always right, but this was a shocking display. I’m glad this place seems to be very proud of their food, but I can’t say I agree. Thoroughly dissatisfied and will not return during this or any other stay in Dillon....

I went back and forth on this one, 2 stars or 3 stars? At the end of the day, 2 stars is the correct choice. We got to our table and was told it would take a bit for us to get water as there were no clean glasses and they had to wash the glasses from the previous customers sitting at our table. We ordered the Tater Tots to start which were $12. Only for a small, cold portion of non-crispy tater tots. Even the cheese was a cold, tiny portion that was fine after dipping 3 soggy tater tots in them. Not worth $12 let alone $5. Moving on to our entrées, I ordered the pork belly and at first glance it looked exciting. Normally when a skillet comes out, I expect it to be hot but this skillet I could handle as it was barely warmed up. For the Pork Belly itself, I’m no Gordon Ramsey but I can tell overcooked, dry meat when I eat it. The skin on pork belly is typically the best part in my opinion but this was just a plain disappointment. The skin was chewy and we ended up not even eating a good portion of the meal. It wasn’t only my portion either, 2 others ordered the pork belly and all had the same review. As for the enchiladas, the review from my friend was “it was fine, it’s enchiladas.”

Got hung up on traffic and decided to pull off the highway for some body fuel. Saw this place and dropped in. The way this place is decorated is very interesting. Your eyes continue to catch details that you missed before. From the way they tie the HVAC ducts into the flow of the room to the way the sections of the dining room are divided... this place has a soothing atmosphere. The service was fantastic. The lady that waited on us was attentive and friendly. The food was very well put together and delicious. Eating out is so expensive anymore that sometimes you leave a restaurant feeling like you wasted money. I didn't feel that way here. It was a good value and we were happy to pay and tip for service. If you are in the area, there are choices that I don't know about, but I do know this choice, and this was a good choice.
