Edit Don’t listen to the bad reviews here. No I am not an employee just a returning customer since they opened. For those leaving bad reviews. About the price: you clearly have never been to a real sushi place, let alone an all you can eat sushi place for the price they have here. Especially for good quality sushi. For those saying it’s bad quality: Sushi isn’t supposed to be warm or frozen. I’m pretty snobby when it comes to price and quality, for I grew up eating fresh sushi and around Asian culture. (Husband was born in Japan so he’s even more picky) My husband and I will also not over pay for ANYTHING cause we know the real quality of Japanese food. (Other foods too but we’re talking about this restaurant) If you’re saying it was warm you have been use to FROZEN sushi as in not good quality. Not even going to get into the warm part cause common sense would obviously be it’s not supposed to be cooked lol For those saying they waited 3-5 that’s ridiculously exaggerated. Yes you will wait a little bit longer than normal restaurants cause they literally make your food right after you order it. This isn’t fast food. For those saying they got theirs first and their partners later, hello get some culture education. Non-American restaurants SHARE food, you know, manners... 🤦🏻♀️ If you’re going to leave a bad review at least know the culture and actual quality of real sushi and prices, or go back to eating bad quality sushi at a higher price per roll lol
(Original Review) I’m not one to write reviews on anything, but this place was that good that I had to review them on a few different platforms.lol not even kidding 🤣
Loved this place. Food was excellent, customer service great, and all you can eat sushi for $18.99! 🙌🏼 The price includes appetizer menu options, which is awesome. Basically a huge selection of all you can eat sushi and some for $18.99. Lunch prices were great as well, definitely going to go for lunch some time.
They have a few unique items on their menu, and they are all so tasty. One of them was called the Mexican roll which had mango in it. It was so refreshing and delicious. Definitely on my re-order list.
To put it simply, they had a little bit of everything to fit everyone’s taste buds: Sushi, in sushi form, or not sushi related.
Apparently they just opened a couple days ago, so they aren’t serving alcohol just yet. They will be opening their bar area within the next few days. Can’t wait to see their sake options to pair with my sushi/sashimi next time I visit.
Definitely recommend this place.
Did I mention their sanitizer smells like candy cane?lol So much better than some other restaurants where the nasty scent distracts you from actually being able to...
Read moreEdit: (Removed one star) Came here again recently and sadly this place has already started rolling downhill. The floors are slippery with a coating of oil and the far corner of my table was sticky. It's not horrible but there's clearly a lack of cleaning happening. Aside from this I ran into a couple issues. They offer Nigiri (fish on rice) and Sashimi (just fish), our waiter didn't know the difference but alternated between the two when we would ask for pieces of Nigiri. The issue here is that sashimi cost 50 cents per piece which drove the bill up. The other thing is that dessert is now no longer included in the all you can eat price. It used to be and it has recently changed. They didn't make this note in the menu and the waiter didn't clarify that we would be charged an extra $2.50 per ice cream. When sudden changes are made to the menu, this should be clarified; especially to returning customers. Overall the food is still great and still an amazing value but it's sad to see the place beginning to slip so early on. Hopefully this was a one time experience.
Came here and was pleasantly surprised. I was informed that this had been only their 2nd day open. Business was slow, but it was a nice and had a quiet ambience. The interior is well decorated with great ambient lighting; not unlike a karaoke bar. The prices are beyond reasonable, $18.99 for all you can eat dinner! Basically everything on the menu (large selection) to include appetizers, are all included in the price. I sampled several of their special and classic rolls to include a few unique items. They have a New York Steak Roll, a roll containing spicy crab and avocado and topped with delicious rare steak, as well as a "Kentucky Roll" which has tempura fried chicken (both included in photos). Everything was enjoyable and I'm looking forward to dining here again when their bar opens! I hope to see this place packed with customers but I hope the wait times don't...
Read moreI had the opportunity to dine at Ooka Sushi in Dothan, which offers an all-you-can-eat sushi experience. The restaurant's warm and trendy atmosphere immediately set a pleasant tone for the afternoon.
I began my meal with a selection of nigiri - two pieces each of salmon, tuna, mackerel, and crab. Each piece was fresh and flavorful, except for the mackerel, which wasn't to my liking, but I'm sure that's just a matter of personal taste.
Next, I tried the eel roll. Although it appeared somewhat unassuming on the plate, the taste was a pleasant surprise – it was delicious and a testament to the notion that looks aren't everything. Following the eel roll, I ordered a sashimi roll, which was well-prepared and enjoyable.
The highlight of my meal was the rainbow roll. The combination of flavors and the freshness of the ingredients made it stand out. It was closely followed by the sashimi roll, which was also exceptional in its own right.
The service at Ooka Sushi was noteworthy. The waitress was friendly and attentive, ensuring we were well taken care of without being intrusive. Her professionalism added to the overall positive experience.
In conclusion, my visit to Ooka Sushi was a satisfying one. The all-you-can-eat format, combined with the quality of the food and the service, makes it a spot worth visiting in Dothan, especially for sushi lovers. The rainbow and sashimi rolls were my personal favorites, and I'd recommend them to anyone...
