El Burro Loco — Restaurant in Dr. Phillips

First off I wanted to say the food is 100% A+ amazing, however the other side of this token is the customer service is less than sub par, immediately upon walking in we were directed to the self kiosk instead of talking to a server behind the counter, I have spent a lot of time in the south and pretty familiar with terms and food items, however my wife is not and being that both of us are white it was very clear that we weren’t “welcomed” here with the same hospitality others were getting in the restaurant, we were directed to a screen instead with no patience at all from serving staff… even though we didn’t mind waiting. we ordered birra tacos and birria flautas with a side of esquites in a cup as we’ve seen on social media, we ordered at 8:55pm and knew it was going to be a wait judging by how many people were there with no food on tables, 30 minutes later my wife receives her food and was told mine was coming out shortly, now we have no problem waiting as both of us have worked in restaurants before and wanted to take to go, it wasn’t until 9:50 when we finally asked where my food was, the server immediately ran to the back and got it, upon feeling the bottom and waiting 53 minutes my food was cold and just sitting in the back, we asked about the side of esquites side and was told it would be right up next…. During our time waiting we saw multiple tables get that as a side but when it came time after waiting more than an hour and 10minutes for food we were told it was being made right now and would be up in 2-3 minutes, after waiting an hour and 20 minutes we gave up and left with a partial order as we had plans set for 10:30, this isn’t meant as a completely negative review as we throughly enjoyed the food even though we didn’t get everything and mine was cold, but it still was amazing food! I just wish the food matched the customer service and this place would be a weekly meal for me and worth the drive from lake Nona but unfortunately me and my wife experience this a lot and feel the need to be transparent about it, thanks for taking the time to read and please please try the food but order ahead...

Update since my last review.. By reading the latest reviews I see I’m not the only one that has happened t Food and service were great when they were a food truck and first opened their brick and mortar. Unfortunately, the service has gone down the drain. I visited this week w/ my family, just 4 of us. Came in around 10:30 pm and order food. Lady didn’t tell us there was a long wait or anything and was kind of rude for no reason. Restaurant was half full when we order. After 40 minutes and no food I asked if it’s almost out, and the lady very rude said that they are about to start making it. We don’t know how but it’s been but seen the foot traffic it wasn’t. It was Tuesday night! - After over an ONE hour of wait the food came out ( birria tacos, steak tacos, one burrito and loco fries). When it finally came out the steak tacos and loco fries were COLD, not even like somewhat warm- after an hour you would spect warm food but nothing. We sent the fries back to get reheated, 10 minutes later they came out and barely warm again. Sucks to see a good place go down in service…

I’ve been coming to this truck for over a year now and always forget to leave a review. This last time I went and had some cheese shell carne asada tacos. The portions are big, each taco was fresh and Crispy from the cheese shell. I’ve The al pastor once and they are delicious. I also order loco fries and wow! If I could give 0 stars, I would. I'm from out of town and ordered 4 chicken tacos for $15. I was standing on the side waiting inside 1 hour for my order they asked me to move. I went outside and waited. I noticed that when I was outside, the owner was speaking good English to another employee on a smoke break. Customers who ordered after me received their order before me. I came back in, and they handed me an ordered I went to check it, and a man said its good, so I didn't check it. I make it all the way to my hotel just to find out it's the wrong order it was steak, and I ordered chicken. I called and told them what happened and they immediately disrespected me. They told me they would call me back, and they never called back. I drove all the way back up there for them to snatch the steak tacos out my hand. They also never threw the steak tacos I brought back from the hotel away. I watched them repackage it. That's a health department concern. The owner was very disrespectful she went into another language, stating that she speaks no English. Because I asked what they were going to do for the inconvenience. They told me nothing. So, at this point, I wanted my money they didnt have a choice but to give it back to me because I had no food. Respectfully! I was there right before closing. Only a few customers were there.
