Honestly, sharing this review to give others a heads up. The best thing about this hotel is that it’s centrally located and you really can’t beat it for the price, but beyond location, you get what you pay for. I booked a room for 9 nights for about $700 while on vacation. I arrived about 2 hours prior to check-in and was happy to learn my room was ready. I booked a Queen suite, room 1413. The first thing I noticed when I walked in was what others have mentioned, it smelled old and musty, but again, I paid for function and wasn’t expecting the Hilton so as long as it was clean and had the essentials I could deal with the smell. 5 minutes into me walking into my room, I’m changing out of my clones and a man who worked there opened my door unexpectedly. Luckily I yelled out before he fully saw me. He apologized profusely through the now closed door and let me know that no one told him I was checking in early and he was supposed to check the room before my arrival which I understood and didn’t make a big deal about. After about an hour I tried opening the balcony to get some air and checkout the view but the sliding door was stuck. I ended up having to contact the front desk who sent the maintenance man up to fix it. Even after it being fix, the door was just heavy and the handle to open it from the balcony required my to stick both of my fingers in the hole to slide it back which was such an inconvenience but again, I didn’t complain about this. But I imagine for people without much finger strength would’ve had a hard time with that door.
The bed was uncomfortable but again, I dealt with it. But housekeeping only gave me 1 washcloth and 1 hand towel which I thought was absurd for the size of the room. They had the single washcloth folded into a cute design so I couldn’t tell there was just 1. And the front desk never mentioned how housekeeping worked so I just assumed they’d clean my room and switch out the towels and washcloths everyday, but this was not the case. In the 8 days I stayed my room was cleaned twice, but I declined the second cleaning because I was still in the room. But to have to go to the front desk each time you need new towels, washcloths, or fresh sheets is annoying when I paid $700.
Lastly, I kept having trouble with my room key everyday I was there. It would work to open the door to the building entrance, but stop working by the time I got to my room. It also seemed random because sometimes it would work 2-3 times, but stop working the 4th. Each day I had to get a new room key and I could tell that by the 3rd day the staff was annoyed and gave me a condescending speech about how hotel keys need to stay away from coins, my phone, and other cards, which I thought was absurd because I never had an issue keeping my hotel key in the pouch and inside of my wallet and then in my purse or bag. It seemed like these keys were just really sensitive or something. But even when I was careful to leave the key out of my wallet and away from my phone, it still stopped working eventually and at that point I was getting upset because I was on vacation and it was a major inconvenience to have to keep getting a new key. I told them that the keys work at the front entrance fine but not on my room door and that the problem had to be with the card reader on my room door. They sent maintenance who tested the door with his keycards and they worked and I could already tell it was going to be an issue of him not believing that my card only work 50% of the time. Eventually I ended up with 5 keycards and luckily when one stopped working I had 4 others to try, but it was extremely annoying.
I also don’t know what it was about the air conditioner in the room, but it really dries me out and I ended up getting a slight fever and then a cold and spent my entire vacation there sick unfortunately. My ceiling also started leaking the second to last night there so I again had to call front desk who sent maintenance to fix it but right after he left it started...
Read moreWe paid for this room over a month in advance. We arrive on the day of and it is EXTREMELY hot and humid in the entire building. Exiting the elevator, we step into the hallway and are hit in the face with a terrible mildew smell. We open the door to our room and find a huge machine sticking out of the balcony door. Next to it, a letter stating that AC has gone out in the entire building. Our thermostat read 79°. We turn the machine on that is supposed to be cooling our room. Throughout our 4 day stay, the lowest we could get our room was 75°. The machine was blowing warm air, never cold air. Now we realize this machine in the living room is not only not going to cool off the living room, but the 2 bedrooms are going to be miserable! Also, due to this machine, we were completely unable to access our balcony. At this point we reach out to the hosts and ask WHY were we not made aware of this situation ahead of time and how are we going to sleep in hot rooms!? We had TWO 1 year olds with us. The host states they can bring window units. At this point it is getting late so he is not going to be able to bring them until tomorrow. We ask how long has the building been out of AC? He tells us, since yesterday. Okay so we go to the pool. Start chatting with some people we meet down there who got there a week ago and are leaving shortly. They state that when they arrive an entire week ago there was no AC!!!!! They let us know that the window units they brought did not cool the room, same as the large machine in the living room. We compare situations and learn that we have the SAME HOST as them. So, the host LIED straight to our faces! We reached out AGAIN to the host to ask WHY would you lie to your tenants and WHY would you not have warned us!!! Also, why would he have waited to put window units on??? Did he expect us to say nothing and think he would get away with this? The host states at this point he would like to give us a full refund and we can leave. We would have LOVED to leave but there are no AirBNBs left within an hour of the area! We express this to the host and make it known that this situation must be fixed. The hosts argue back and forth with us a LOT. They were so unprofessional our entire stay, never attempting to truly rectify the situation. The host did eventually come and install the window units, but just as the large machine, they only blow room temp air. Not cold air. We go to sleep only to discover that both of our mattresses felt like they had been purchased from the goodwill for $20. One of them sunk into a V shape so you roll into your partner, the other sunk into a V shape so your head was higher than your butt. Incredibly uncomfortable to sleep on. We weren't expecting high class mattresses but those were awful. Day 2, I start the shower to get in, and discover there is mold covering the entire bottom of the shower curtain. Completely disgusting. Again, we have 1 year Olds we have to bathe in these showers, and one of us is PREGNANT. Not only that, but as I showered I realized the tub does not drain while you are showering. No matter how much you mess with the plug, you're stuck standing in whatever you washed off. It takes 30+ minutes after showering to fully drain. Oh, did you want to use the hot water in the sink? Better not do it after anyone is asleep! It makes an obnoxiously loud vibrating sound, sounds like a jackhammer in the wall. Next my husband runs into the hallway barefoot. His feet become soaked because the carpeted hallway is drenched in water (hence the awful mildew smell!!!). SO gross. There is apparently a leak somewhere relating to the broken AC. This wet carpet also made it so every time you stepped in the room, you slid across the smooth tile floor because your shoes were soaked. The side of the refrigerator was DISGUSTING, covered in "rust" the hosts claimed. Sticky to the touch. The entire building was run down and trashy. DO NOT BOOK WITH "HELEN & SAM". DO NOT STAY HERE !! Read moreSo I booked my room in Orlando on 3/2/18 and I was not pleased with my room at all. Everything was outdated bed, table, appliances bathroom,TV basically everything you think of in that room. I booked a queen studio, and I’m not talking about a few years outdated I’m talking about when ever box TVs were in style outdated., cause the tv was so small I couldn’t even see it 📺. Upon arriving Mr.felipe if I remember his name correctly was nice however he avoided my questions about the room prior to signing my check in papers. I had called prior to booking to ask for a updated room and they noted that I requested for a updated room,I had seen on the website. And a lady said that they could try however there is no garentee. I’m thinking okay cool, so they have updated units. Going back to Mr.Felipe upon checking in I explain the conversation I had with the lady over the phone earlier about having an updated room. He did try and comprehend my inquiry, then he further explained that all rooms are standard and the same. I’m like okay let me go check the room out and make sure it’s up to my liking. So our room was located in the back, in 2nd building. As we were walking up to our room everything from the smell in building to the creepy elevator was already a red flag. So we stayed on the second floor room 113 all the way at the end. Before I actually got to my room we had to walk down the hall. The hallway smelt bad and we could hear very loud music playing in the hallway from other rooms. Another red flag!, so preceded to our room. I open the door and I was very disappointed in its appearence as I said before everything was out dated. I can truthfully say it was clean because it was, however I felt very uncomfortable in the room. So after I saw the room I went back to the front desk and told Felipe my concern he then gets the manager. The manager was very nice and explained that all the rooms are standard with small TVs etc, however if anything else came available he would inform me. So all this is happening the first night that we are there around 9-11 p.m so I still wasn’t statisfied and didn’t want to stay there anymore, so I asked about the cancellation policy and because I booked for 4 days and 3 nights I would only be refunded for one night. So because everything else near that area was booked I had to wait out the night until the morning. So after thinking long and hard about if I could stay there all weekend and perhaps look back on this moment and laugh in the future. I decided that I couldn’t the beds were very uncomfortable my boyfriend actually slept on the couch cause we both couldn’t fit in the bed comfortably. So that next morning I was up at the front desk asking to check out. I believe the attendant that morning name was Thomas he was helpful, however because managers had switch shifts and the manger I spoke with the night before wasn’t there I sorta had a run with Travelocity and the hotel as far as getting my refund of the one night back. Then after finally speaking face to face to the lady manger that day she refunded me my money back for the one night.
I also wanted to state that the free breakfast was also very disappointing. We had to go into this conference room with round tables which was over crowded and the food was like bread cereal and muffins. I felt like I was in a foreign country trapped on a island somewhere ... y’all maybe laughing but this is how I really felt. I hope I don’t sound too bougie, but this is just my experience and if you are like me and expect to feel at home when you go on vacation and comfortable I wouldn’t recommend...
