Hokulia Shave Ice — Restaurant in Draper

Perfect summer treat. I liked it, but my kids devoured it. We got one to share and it was plenty big enough for that. We tried POG and Black Cherry flavoring. Both flavors were quite tasty. I was quite happy to see POG as a flavor. It did melt a little fast but it was 102 degrees outside. We also got the 'snow cap' to add on. I'm pretty sure it was just sweetened condensed milk. Which was ok, but we much preferred just the cold flavored ice to cool us off. They have some picnic style tables so you can eat it there if you want, there are also some shady tree areas nearby. It is however in the parking lot near a busy street, so be mindful of that. My kids are excited to go back and try more flavors. I love this place....well until recently. I went there all last summer, literally at least 30 times and almost every time it was excellent. So far this summer I've been there 3 times and the last 2 have not been very good. They did not have nearly enough flavoring....hardly any color or flavoring on the bottom half of the cone. Not sure if they're trying to save money but paying $6+ for a cup of ice which only half has flavor isn't good. PLEASE use plenty of flavoring and teach your employees how to make them properly. This is the real deal…authentic shave ice not sno cone ice! I took the advice of the employee and had mango and haupia (a creamy coconut flavor) combo and it was so refreshing! I got the coconut flakes and ice cream add ons. I loved the ice cream (buried inside the ice) because it kept the ice cold and the ice kept it cold and frozen but it made everything creamy.
