I'm hoping based on all the other positive reviews here that our experience was an isolated one, but I still feel the need to leave a review. A few weeks ago me and my husband made a reservation here for the first time (for lunch) to celebrate a special occasion. We walked in on an empty restaurant and no staff to greet us or show us to our table. Finally someone walked over wearing leggings with holes in them and a t-shirt and told us to "sit wherever." We looked over the menu (lots of things looked delicious!) And when our waitress came to take our order (a steak sandwich and a grilled cheese of some sort) she said "oh, we're actually out of both of those today, sorry." Alright then, we chose something else to order. The food itself was fine, but we were VERY disappointed in how deceiving the menu was. I ordered a "bite" that said it was for 1-2 people (*and was the same price as the entrée I wanted to order but that was "out of stock") and my husband ordered the trio of tacos that said it was for 3-4 people. Mine was a snack at best (I finished in 5 minutes, literally) and his was NOT for 3-4 people as it was 3 tiny tacos. My plate of a snack was $17. I now see my error in ordering from the "bites" section as I really did only get a few bites, but the fact that the menu said it was for 1-2 people and it was the exact same price as an entrée was just ridiculous. Both of us left hungry and a little irritated after spending $40+ on a "meal" that was more like an afternoon snack. This restaurant is overpriced and posing as a nicer, upscale restaurant but unfortunately it was a major letdown and we won't be returning. If you go here, don't mind the menu's comments on how many people a dish serves, it...
Read moreI tried several different appetizers, the butter cake, and duck and risotto. My favorite appetizer was the stuffed mushroom, followed by the shrimp ravioli. I also enjoyed the charcuterie board. It was fairly standard. I only wish there were more than 3 little pieces of bread to go with all that spread, cheese, and meat, lol. I went with 2 friends, so we all got 1 piece of bread each. I don't think anyone at the table really enjoyed the bruschetta board. One of them tasted like a very acidic spaghetti sauce, the other was sweet and kind of savory (French onion) and probably the best. The 3rd piece was the standard stuff.
I ordered the duck and risotto, and that was probably my favorite dish. Be sure to mix the blueberry sauce well, though. It helps with the savoriness, but it's pretty tart. I also tried the meatloaf and burger. Imma be honest, I didn't love either of them. My friends didn't either. The meatloaf wasn't bad, it just tasted a lot like stuffing, but was slightly sweet. I only took a bite of the burger, and I just didn't enjoy the flavor. It was a burger with something that made it kind of sour. It sounded good on paper, but yeah.. not what I thought it would be. Glad I went with a different dish.
Gotta say though, the butter cake was an absolute winner. It was so buttery and paired well with the salted vanilla ice cream. I'd go back just for that!
The service was pretty awesome. I really liked our server, he was pretty knowledgeable about the wines. All of his recommendations...
Read moreThe atmosphere is fun and the service is fantastic! I do think the food suffers from going more to style than substance.
My fiancé and I came to celebrate finishing planning/ paying off the rest of our wedding. We are self proclaimed foodies and the pictures of this spot hooked us! When I say the food is more style than substance, I mean the presentation on the plate is gorgeous but the flavors are ok/good.
We ordered then Arancini for an appetizer which was my favorite item of the meal! It’s very heavy on the mushroom and isn’t overpowered by the sauce or panko fried risotto ball. Their bar seemed great as the Garden of zen cocktail my fiancé got was crisp and refreshing!
I ordered the bacon and chicken gnocchi, the gnocchi is clearly fresh and tasted delicious, my only critique is that the bacon they used really dominates the flavor and makes it hard to appreciate their perfectly made gnocchi. As for the burger, I genuinely couldn’t taste the white BBQ sauce, maybe the pickled fried onions overpowered the flavor similar to how the bacon took over the gnocchi.
I’m from Vegas so I’m not opposed to higher prices if the overall experience is fantastic, but for what you eat it’s a bit over priced in my opinion.
Overall this is a good place to go if you’re on a first date and want to take a non foodie to a fancier restaurant; but if you’re solely in it for taste this spot may not be for you as the flavors are not unique and it all looks better...
