Definitely reminds me of the nicer pubs back home in Australia! There’s a restaurant and a bar side each with their own patio (bar side patio has low to the ground deck/couch like furniture as opposed to the restaurant side that offers regular table height and chair seating), and you can order food and drinks in both with an exception.
I arrived at 3 and from 3-4pm on a Sunday—they don’t serve food as they’re changing brunch to dinner menu. So you can’t sit in the restaurant side and order/take alcohol over there.
That being said, I hopped over to the bar side, sat on a nice table and had a drink while I waited for 4pm. The food was so delicious and in my opinion inexpensive for what you are getting! I ordered the blackberry prosciutto flatbread and some cliff fries. I ate the entire flatbread myself, it was that good! The fry sauce had a little spicy kick and also the fries were a very unique chunky spiral shape! The entire meal was delicious—sweet, salty, modern and moorish!
I loved the atmosphere—it was afternoon so not super busy but I planned it that way so I took my laptop, had a drink, did some work, ate some food and did some more work. No one bothered me to move so they could use my table and it really felt like the modern pub & eatery atmosphere I was used to! I’ve really been missing a place like this—being able to sit and visit with friends without feeling rushed to leave is such an important part of socialising when you’re out, of course while you’re patrimony they establishment but it’s easy to do because the food and drinks are fantastic! I absolutely hate feeling rushed in every other establishment I’ve been to in the states so this experience was refreshing and welcomed.
Music was really great too! A lot of 70/80s classic rock/pop and sports on the tvs if that’s your thing.
I’d suggest making the ordering process a little more clear, all I was told by the hostess upon entering was the 3-4pm food policy—I wasn’t sure if I was meant to go up to the bar to order drinks/food when available or if someone would come to me with a menu as it became available. Since I came at that unusual hour, I was a little forgotten by servers who overlooked me when it came time for food to be available. But that was OK, since all I needed to do was catch the hostess who sorted it all out. I didn’t actually clarify whether the servers come to your table to ask if you’d like to order or if you need to go to the bar and let them know you’d like a menu/to order food, so I guess I’ll clarify next time!
Here’s what I figured out for any newbies: When you’re in the bar area, the bar staff are your people—go up to the bar if you haven’t been taken care of and they’ll hook you up! Even as I was just having a drink, and had closed out my bill, the bartender came to check on me a few times which I thought was great and unusual—she was super nice! All servers were super friendly, place was very clean and the view was spectacular!
I’ve definitely found my home away from home—a little slice of the Australian type of pub and eatery. I’ll...
Read moreSo, I have been in town for 2 weeks for work. I have been eating my way around Draper and Lehi, and I finally found The Cliff tonight - my last night in town. I cannot begin to explain how sad I am that I found them so late in the game
I came in, was immediately sat. My waitress, Mary, appeared instantly like magic. While she was gone putting in my drink order, two more members of the wait staff stopped by to make sure someone had taken care of me.
When Mary came back, she had an excellent suggestion for dinner. the blackened salmon. In my opinion, the wait staff usually know what's good-looking so trust them.
Trusting Mary paid off hugely! The salmon was perfect. The asparagus was tender and well seasoned, the prosciutto was crisp and not too salty... The potatoes were smooth and creamy, and picked up flavor from the salmon spices.
In addition, Mary was kind enough to spend some extra time talking with me while she wasn't busy- making suggestions on other restaurants to try in the area, and scenic drives to take to really enjoy the mountains while I am here. And she was adamant that I hang out long enough to see the sunset from their balcony, and you know.. she was right.
I decided to splurge for dessert too, and trusted the guidance of Miss Mary once more. She didn't lead me astray. I was brought a beautiful, perfectly sized- gloriously caramalized creme brulee, with a beautiful strawberry on top.
It was just the right amount of sweet to end the meal, and so smooth and creamy with real vanilla beans in the recipe.
I spoke with the manager for a little bit, and learned that they recently relaunched this place with the new management. They're definitely on the right track.. if this is what they are capable early on in their tenure, I can't imagine what it will be like when they hit their stride.
I am writing this review from their balcony, listening to the music and sipping my drink as the sun sets over the mountains and above the valley. After 2 weeks away from home, I am ready to go back. But this view, this porch and the kindness of the staff has made me a little sad to leave. But I will definitely be back, this isn't a place I am going to forget- and it doesn't matter where in the Salt Lake area I stay on my next trip... I will be stopping by the Cliff again, at sunset to watch the sun go down and the stars come out. And to eat some pretty wonderful food in...

The view in the patio was spectacular. They kept the shades drawn so the sun didn’t blind guests! Our server was Amanda, 10/10, enhanced our experience greatly!
For drinks we ordered, the painkiller, the flight of fancy, and this month’s special, the cactus kiss. Each drink was fantastic! The salt that they used for the cactus kiss was everything! The painkiller was practically desert. I recommend chasing each sip of the flight of fancy with one of the berries, especially the blueberries.
For food, we ordered the spinach dip as a starter. And then we ordered the blackberry and fried goat cheese salad, and the flaming Cajun chicken pasta. The spinach dip came with. Crostini. Crostini was perfect, not rock hard at all. Toasted to perfection. The spinach dip had the most amazing layer of melty cheesy on top. We ate all of it.
We told Amanda that we were going to be sharing the salad and the pasta and to bring them out at the same time and we would share plates. When they brought us the salad and pasta, they had already split the menu items onto individual plates. I love it when a server makes that happen!
The blackberry and fried goat cheese salad was insane! So damn good. If you read the ingredient list and you’re not opposed to any of those things you’re in for a real treat. The Cajun pasta was delicious. Not too spicy but enough Cajun, nicely balanced. The Covatti pasta almost tasted sweet and it was cooked perfectly. Everything seemed very fresh.
As soon as the sun set behind the mountains, they pulled their sunshades up. The sun might’ve been in my eyes for less than five seconds. It was perfect because we could all enjoy the sunset. Just another detail that the restaurant pays attention to that makes the dining experience special.
My wife and I both left the restaurant raving about our experience. This rarely happens. Often times one of us has a great dish and the other one has a mediocre dish. Tonight 10 out of 10. All of the staff that we interacted with was exceptionally friendly and professional. Restaurant was clean and welcoming. Parking can be a little...
