Original Post (See Edit below): I can't even describe how unusual and unsettling this experience was. I first pull into the drive thru and wait at the speaker to order for about 3 minutes. I yelled "hello?" numerous times into the speaker with no response. So I pulled around to the window assuming the speaker didn't work. I could see a girl sitting next to the window on the ground, just blonde hair and a visible forehead. Scrolling on her phone. I wait at the window, watching her for about two minutes. There is no sign of anyone else in the entire place.
So I pull around and walk into the store. An odd scream was heard in the back followed by silence. Then a girl rushes from the back to tell us welcome in, she has no headset, hat, apron or anything work-related on. She says "hold on let me get ready" and goes to the back out of view. Then a man with a beard comes forward a little disheveled and seemingly caught off guard by our arrival. I asked him if his drive thru was broken and he asks "No, why?" in a nervous way, and then immediately changed the subject by saying I look like someone he knows.
Then, one by one, teenager after teenager starts coming from the back. Where the hell were they all? What were they doing?!
I am not making accusations at all. But their demeanor and nervousness made it easy to assume something questionable was happening in some back room while no one was manning the drive thru or front door.
Then it took about 15 to 20 minutes to make 2 drinks. One came out, then another one about 7 minutes later. As he handed me the drink he said "Sorry about the wait but you'll thank me for it." I asked him to clarify since it was an unusual statement and I didn't want anything deviated from what I ordered. He said he "treated it like a Picasso" and that he "put extra spinach in it for flavor".
I felt so uncomfortable by the whole thing I threw the drink away when I got home.
Someone should look into the safety, well-being and productivity of the younger employees here... Some of the conduct seemed suspicious.
Again, I have no evidence for any claims other than suspicious behavior and unusual interactions.
EDIT (See original post above): I emailed the manager as requested and they checked cameras. Apparently 4 out of 5 employees were stocking the freezer at the same time, while the 5th was sitting on the floor. They dont know why they didnt hear me at the drive thru nor why it took so long to make. Changing my 1 Star to a 3 Star out of good faith that they just missed me because they were stocking the freezer... still doesnt make sense to...
Read moreWe went through the drive through at 3:30pm on Friday, October 6th. The person taking the order was unfriendly and unenthusiastic. We gave our order and then pulled to the window where we sat and waited for almost fifteen minutes for someone to even come to the window and acknowledge us. We hadnât paid so we almost drove away a few times because they werenât even looking our way. When they finally came to take payment they didnât apologize for the wait or say anything at all really. I know itâs hard to find good employees but the Roxberry managers need to make some changes. I donât see myself going back. There are too many other options nowadays to deal with poor service.
Edit: I decided to try this Draper Roxberry again today per my kidâs request (3/16/24). This visit resulted in a drop to one star. I waited in line for 45 minutes. Two cars in front of me pulled out of line. I stuck it out mostly to time it for this review. Starbucks is next door and I counted nearly twenty cars get their orders and leave in while I waited. Five total cars in line ahead of me for the 45 minute wait. I wanted to give it another chance but I should have...
Read moreSo I went into the store (which was impeccably clean btw) and asked the staff for what might have been the impossible "make me a bowl that can survive a car ride for a 45 minute drive home". The staff starting immediately began modifying the recipe of the dragon fruit bowl to survive the trip. One of the employees even said "wait, we have a frozen water bottle in back"...and added that to my bag to keep things cool. I just got home and totally enjoyed my ((still cold)) wonderful yumminess of a bowl. It's hard to find a place like this where you have the perfect intersection of taste, cleanliness, and a friendly staff that takes going above and beyond so seriously. I would skip other locations to drive back to this one (even though it is far away from where I live) just because of how well every aspect of my visit went...and it would be...
