My wife and I go to Duluth every year for our wedding anniversary because she grew up there and it's a great place to visit.
On our way home, we always stop at Coney Island Deluxe to get some Coney Dogs and Coney Burgers. And they are absolutely incredible! The only other menu item we've tried was a gyro and that was delicious as well. We love the Coney Dogs and Coney Burgers so much that is what we stick with.
The owners and staff we've dealt with over the years have all been undeniably wonderful and lovely people. Such friendly, helpful and professional folks. How many restaurants do you go to literally once a year, and you are remembered and greeted with a familiar hello and great to see you again?
We get our order to go and they are fantastic about wrapping and bagging our order.
If you are ever in the Duluth area, please do not hesitate to visit this...

Wonderful coneys. When we used to come here when I was a kid, my dad called them “gutbombs”. They are. They are also wonderful and delicious. To call them “chili dogs” is a disservice to these coneys.
They are a bit pricey, it’s a hot dog, but just about in line with Portillos and others. You really shouldn’t eat these every day, so the price is nominal considering I only get to Coney Island a few times per year.
I can’t speak to anything else here. When I go to Coney Island, I get coneys. It’s like going to Sammy’s and not getting pizza. What? :)
This is one of my favorite Duluth spots. There is a pay parking lot outside the building, so finding street parking isn’t a hassle, and the lot is...
Read moreThis place has had the same great food for over 30 years now. They are friendly, quick, reasonably priced, hidden gem in my opinion. When I worked downtown in Duluth decades ago this place was a regular lunch spot at least once a week. In my opinion they make the best hot dog chili I've ever had anywhere. Dogs have a distinctive snap to the skins that is sooo good. They still have the same pictures of the laker taconite ships that were there in the 80's, including one big one of the Edmund Fitzgerald.
The area of downtown where they are located is not as active and thriving as it used to be since so much business has moved to Canal Park. Don't let the surroundings fool you. If you want a true taste of Duluth this is a place you need to visit...
