Going to keep this review short & sweet. Have been here a couple of times, service is great. Unique atmosphere & architecture, really love the space. Food is great, presentation is very nice. Prices are fairly reasonable. One of the bigger negatives (for me at least) is when the place is busy, the inside dining area gets pretty loud, almost like a school cafeteria. This is primarily because the place is open concept inside. This is easily fixable if you're lucky enough to get an outside table. Trust me, try to get an outside table (when the weather is nice). Haven't had a bad experience yet, one of the better places to come to in Eagle / Meridian area. Parking can get somewhat packed, so you can park in the hotel parking lot which is next to the restaurant OR park at the nearby park (Reid Merrill Park) and walk down the greenbelt to the restaurant (a VERY pleasant 15 minute or so walk). FYI, you don't wait for someone to sit you down at a table. You sit yourself. Kind of felt like a n00b when I came here my first time lol. If you do find a seat inside, but you soon find an open spot outside, you CAN move outside, they will know you moved!

Although the restaurant is nice, it was difficult to find a place to sit with a large party of people. Basically, you need to place a few tables together. Next, it took a WHILE to get attended by any staff members. Once they did attend us we waited like 10-15 mins for our food order to be taken. Once ordering, the waitress said that I couldn’t order off the kids menu unless I was 12 and younger. She was very rude about it too. I tried to explain that I wouldn’t be able to eat an entree sized burger. Afterwards, she stated that it was the company’s policy and her manager would get her in trouble and potentially fire her if she let me order a kid’s burger. I was extremely disappointed because this is not a problem at other restaurants. I don’t understand that logic. Aside from this mishap, the restaurant was VERY noisy and smelly. The burger and fries were tasty but comparable to other nearby restaurants. I would probably not return or recommend this place. Oh and PS there was dust falling off the ceilings into our food and drinks.

Bardenay Restaurant is an open concept restaurant with a fabulous patio next to the river. I visited twice in short succession. I tried the Charbroiled Beef Tenderloin Salad with the Prickly Pear Margarita. The salad was absolutely delicious and the prickly pear margarita was underwhelming. The service could use some improvement as our server disappeared after the entrees were delivered. The restaurant wasn’t that busy so that was a little disappointing. On my second visit I tried the Silver Coin Margarita which was a winner! I tried the special of the day which was a salmon sandwich. I was starving so I ate the first half and it was extremely salty - I didn’t eat the other half and tossed it when I got home. I did tell the server who said he’d let the kitchen know. The salmon sandwich would have been a winner if not for the excessive salt. This server was much more attentive. I have high hopes for my next visit. The Charbroiled Beef Tenderloin Salad and Silver Coin Margarita are worth another visit!!!

I really wish I could give them a better review. They’ve got potential, but oh my gosh was this the worst experience I’ve had in years. Bardenay used to hold itself to a higher standard. But whatever is going on at this location is a joke. We asked our server (kept forgetting) and a member of the staff multiple times, for our drinks, silverware, and a kids menu. This was met with a hard attitude. The response they gave would make you think we asked for something illegal .

20 mins after ordering our drinks, we had only received one. i asked our waitress, about my wife’s drink and the apple juice for my 3 year old. She apologized and came back within a few minutes. She disappeared again, another staff member brought our appetizer. We had been sitting for 45 minutes roughly and the toddler was getting hangry. I had to walk to kitchen to find our waitress and asked her to please take our order. After a few minutes she came. We ordered our dishes and she walked off, i had to stop her again and ask if she had a kids menu. She said shed be back with one. 15 mins later i got aggravated and got my own.

** so Its been bad enough up to this point, we should have just left. It keeps going.

So i have the kids menu, she see’s me walking back and meets at our table. I order a grilled cheese for my son. I calmy say, “ma’am its been over 90 minutes since we sat down. My son is getting restless. Can i order a piece of cheese to hold him over until his food comes?” She just stared at me with big eyes while processing my request. And says, “we cant do that.” Wait, are you serious? I try to reason with her and explain that its now 730, we dont have our food, the kid just got his apple juice. Charge me whatever, I’m just trying to have a decent dinner here. And this is taking too long. She couldn’t comprehend my request, nor did she inquire with anyone on how she could so this. Her confused mind simply said no.

Ok fine. I walk out to the car and find a zbar. Kiddo is calming down. So by this point, the section we are in has nearly cleared out. Theres a few patrons still sitting in other sections. The patio is nearly full. I can see our waitress going outside, and engaging with her coworkers near the kitchen. I keep trying to get her attention, waving her down, saying excuse me as she walks by; only to be ignored.

Its now 8:15 and I’m pretty irritated. She ignored my request so I go to the kitchen and she walks past me, continuing outside. I wait by the outside doors, after she finishes i stop her again, asking if our food is ready. She tells me she will go check on it.

She comes back with our cold food , but no grilled cheese for my son. ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! I again have to seek her out inquiring about our order. She says sorry i forgot, i will put that in now. By the time it comes, we are done. Its 9 oclock. We’ve been here 3 hours and what should have been a relaxing dinner has turned into serious work. The food could’ve been amazing. But we didn’t get the chance to decide that. It was ruined not only by being cold, but by the piss poor experience we’ve had . We decide we are getting takeout and a happy meal on our way home.

I ask a staff member for our check. He states he will let our waitress know. We wait 10, 15, 20 more minutes. Like where the hell is she? I dont see her. I am beyond done at this point, and I tell my wife that we are leaving. They can chase me out the door for all i care. This thought is too embarrassing for her so we wait. Waitress finally comes and takes payment. Runs my card, clicks the 30% tip and hands me the device. I ask, do you think you earned that? “I hope so, most people do 30%” she says. I tell her, “i’m sorry, but i cant do that. I will pay our $100 tab. But 10% is most i will give.” She scoffs snd walks away. We ending up leaving our uneaten food bc requesting a box at this point would be an impossible request. And this will be the last time i ever go...

My husband and I were there last Tuesday evening. The atmosphere is amazing. There were several people there enjoying cocktails. We immediately had the feeling this is a great meeting place for the locals.

We had been moving all day, very hungry and thirsty. Our waiter was quick to take our order. Almost too quick, like he was busy doing something more important and needed to hurry up. We ordered our cocktails and they were there in a jiffy!

The menu is full of spicy items. There were just a few things that weren't on the hot side. I found 1, an amazing salad. It was top notch! My husband was happy with his selection as well. (Comment: More options for folks who don't eat spicy food ;) would be great!)

As we finished our meal, my husband accidentally knocked over my Long Island Ice Tea, which I barley drank. It was literally 3/4 full. This happened right as our server was at the table. He saw it happen. The glass broke, the drink was all over my lap and the server handed me a towel. My husband used his napkin and we found whatever we could to clean up the table, bench seat and me.

One of the other employees came over and helped some...our waiter did not help at all...in fact, he walked back by and said "do you need more towels"?

I asked him if we could be credited for the Long Island. He said he would check with the manager and come back. He came back with another Long Island! I chuckled and said, " we're done eating now, and really didn't want another drink"...his respond was.."Oh drink it, its free"! It wasn't free...it was replaced.

My entire lap is wet from the spilled drink, I'm now cleaning the table, broken glass everywhere and the floor. I have now sliced my finger from the broken glass... it's bleeding everywhere. I'm irritated. I don't want to stay another minute and drink.

We paid the bill and left very disappointed. I was appalled at the waiter's behavior and his "nonchalant" attitude.

We left the table and I went to the ladies room. As I walked by, I saw our waiter standing at the bar. Clearly, he was visiting with people he knew.

Ah, now I get it! He did have more important things to do!

I'm not at all one to complain. I just thought you should know. I get the feeling you will get it taken care of so if this happens again, your employee's will know what your expectations are for your customers.

Thank you for...

UPDATE: Because of convenience and genuine love of the food here, we continued trying since posting this. Not sure if they saw my review and did more training or what, but we have just about 0 issues. Order is always ready, someone’s always at the counter ready to help, and everything is there!!! Thank you!

I have to say as a local business owner that’s ordering takeout from here VERY regularly (5+ times in the last month and a half) for clients during conference meetings, I’m getting less and less impressed.

We feed clients lunch during day long meetings. We chose bardenay because it’s known to be higher scale, good food, and a good name to let our clients choose lunch from. Unfortunately I think they’ve lost our very regular business with good sized orders. As well as clients who have had to wait for their lunch while we go back to get it because it was missing. The last 4 orders we’ve brought back have been missing either an entire entree, a side, or multiple sides. If not that, at least one persons order is completely wrong every time. Two orders ago, a client got the turkey sandwich. Everyone joked because you couldn’t see the ONE thin slice of turkey between the bread. Legitimately looked like bread on bread. For $15??? Another persons side salad was missing.

On today’s order, an entire Philly dip Sandwich and its side was missing from our order.

Mistakes happen, so I think above all else and worst of all is that everytime I go to pick up, I stand there and dozens of servers and workers just blow past, can’t even give me a smile or ask how they can help. I finally learned I have to be rude, walk up to the bar, and interrupt whatever the bartender is doing to get attention and get my order.

When I called today to confirm something on my order, the man I talked to was rude. Short, snippety, and cut me off multiple times. Overall very unimpressed with service and quality lately. Gave them more than second, third, and...
