My experience at Cracker Barrel in Lancaster PA this year was a very unpleasant one. We make several trips to Lancaster PA each and we always make sure to visit Cracker Barrel. Last week of June 2024 we made one if our trips. We arrived at Cracker Barrel at 4pm our waitress came over to take our order, my husband and I ordered our dinner and also ordered a cup of soup, and our drinks, waitress said she would also bring us a bread basket. Someone brought our drinks overs to our table, and in less than 5 minutes a server came over with our dinners. This was surprising as I hadn't even gotten my soup and we had no silverware on our table. I told the server there had to be a mistake as I ordered soup and hadn't gotten it yet. The server just stood there and said no this is your dinner we server everything together. I was shocked the waitress came over and confirmed everything is severed at once soup, salad and dinner. She was also rude in her tone to us, which was very uncalled for. I said to the waitresses well if that is the case I don't see the soup or the bead basket only our dinners, her response to me "well I was in the bathroom " I didn't even know how to respond to that comment. So, now they put our dinners on the table where we still also did have any silverware, I let our waitress know to cancel the soup. We sat there dinners in front of us waiting for silverware for another few minutes before she returned. The only reason we did not leave was we were going to a show and would not have enough time to find another restaurant. I have never been to a restaurant where all you courses are brought to your table at the same time. I did speak with a manager, and I hope if this is Cracker Barrels procedure to throw everything you order at their customers at once the servers should make people aware of this. There are not many Cracker Barrels around for this reason I can understand why. This was very disappointing as we have always enjoyed our visits to Cracker Barrel in the past. I will be sure to my friends and family know about this, as I would not want them to be...
Read moreI hate to feel like Cracker Barrel in Lancaster caters to White people more, but coming from NJ, and never experiencing the issues I do now when I come to this location is a totally different experience. I have been to the Lancaster location 5 times already, and had 1 great experience. The other 4 times I noticed long wait times and wait staff catering to white people more. Today, is what is making me leave this review. My husband, kids and myself were seated, brought drinks and ignored. While I watched our waitress cater to everyone else and not even say, " Give me a minute". We waited over 25 minutes before we got up, tried to just pay for our drinks and leave. Now, some folks may assume playing the race card is old. No!! You see, im half white and Puerto Rican. My husband is black and kids naturally are mixed brown skin kids. When I came to eat at this location with my white dad and his white wife, and myself being fair skinned recieved great service. Any time I have came with my husband and kids. We waited. Patiently, because I hate to be rude. I previously waited tables in my past so, I understand being busy. So, naturally when I watch other tables seated after us, being served faster, not waiting long for ANYTHING and being catered to properly, I wondered, could this be a race thing? Well, I simply can't help noticing the difference when I was with my white family. Leaving disappointed today because I love their breakfast and waited 40 minutes just to be seated. Also, just knowing the only Cracker Barrel I felt comfortable at, and my family felt comfortable at was in NJ. I will say this, there is a gentleman that took my husband's reservation. He has a disability, and him and my husband had a nice chat about the Lord! He was very pleasant and that talk humbled my husband. He was very kind. So was the elderly lady at the register. No matter whom is patronizing your establishment needs to be treated EQUALLY. Just know. We all love to eat, and...
Read moreThe Lancaster Cracker Barrel has always been a favorite. My family and I often dine here while in Lancaster. We have always had good food and a good experience until recently. Between Christmas and New Years, our dinner experience was not up to the usual standard. My husband ordered the Homestyle Breakfast for dinner. He ordered this meal because he wanted the biscuit and gravy. Right before our meals came out, the server told my husband that they were out of gravy and offered my husband another breakfast side dish. My husband didn't want another side dish due to dietary restrictions. He told the server if the gravy was ready before we left to bring it out. The gravy never came. We got our bill and were charged the full price for the meal. When my husband questioned the server, she said she could only take $.99 off our bill. We had been charged a $.99 up charge for plain hashbrowns instead of the hashbrown casserole. My husband asked to talk with the manager. The sever came out a few minutes later and said there were two managers, and both were too busy to come to the table. One was cooking in the kitchen and the other in a training orientation. My husband wasn't happy. The server then came back and offered to take off the $.99 and a free drink, which was $3.99. I was happy with the $4.99 discount and convinced my husband it was good. However, the situation could have been handled better. My husband should have been told sooner, so he could have chosen a different meal. $.99 is a poor discount offer when a customer is not happy. My husband didn't get the meal he wanted, and $.99 is supposed to make it right, A manager should have taken a couple of minutes to come to the table. A refusal never looks good for a company, especially when there were two. All could have been avoided if the first response from the server after talking with the manager would have been, my manager is busy cooking in the kitchen. However, we can compensate $4.99 for your...
