The BBQ Barn — Restaurant in East Lampeter Township

My wife and I are locals and once again couldn't decide where to eat since its practicly all the same type of eatery area here so we decided hell let's try some BBQ chicken. So after researching the area online we found the BBQ Barn we decided why the hell not and since we rarely both agree on the same thing we headed over and oh boy did it seem questionable once we got there it was located outside behind a large local Target retail store. There was a long line but it smelled amazing there was an Amish dude cooking ribs and chicken out in the open which was very nice to watch while we waited. I wasn't ready for what happened after we got or food we ordered 3 half chickens and 3 potatoes. I went for lunch on a Friday and was not disappointed, They have big portion sized and for cheap too! I ordered a half a smoked chicken a chicken, which came with coleslaw, 2 roasted potatoes, a whoopie pie and a drink all for $12. In todays day thats a crazy steal. But the chicken was delicious it was juicy, smoky, well salted, I really enjoyed it, im not a slaw fan so I cant really comment on wether it was good or not but im sure it was. The roasted potatoes, could’ve use some salt or seasoning, but its fine it paired well with the seasoning of the chicken and i dipped it in the juices so it worked out fine. Very very underwhelming. I cannot fathom the 5 star ratings. If you’re there for the experience and don’t have other food choices then I guess it’s better than nothing.

The pros: Not expensive Nice people working at the counter The soft pretzel is pretty good

The cons: Pulled chicken - doused in sickly sweet sauce, ribs were dry and burnt and totally bland without the said sweet BBQ sauce on the side, burger wasn’t bad but definitely didn’t taste fresh While waiting for the food I saw a young adult employee pulling a cart towards the tent where the food was prepared, next thing I see him and another employee putting the chicken on the grill WITH NO GLOVES on and I did not see a tap where they could’ve washed their hands.
