Started out as a nice experience with a nice server. Our server was really informative, with a positive attitude. He did come back to refill our drinks, and got our food out to us. Shortly after that, he dropped off our check while we were still eating and manager (I'm assuming) came by to check on us. Ok no problem. It was afterwards where it turned from a 4 or 5 star experience to a 0 if I could rate that. For a stretch for about 40 minutes our server went missing. There was about 5 waiters doing nothing since there was only one more table occupied with a customer, I'd say I saw about 3 staff members in the back kitchen, one tall guy which I also assume is a manager., and none approached us if we needed anything else. My son was wanting to add to his order, we needed our drinks refilled, and a box to go. We looked around and made it obviously that we were looking for our server, and to still no avail. We went up to pay, and the host told us we needed to pay with our server. Yea uh our server had been missing for 40 minutes. She said she thinks he went home, to no he's on break, then to I'm not sure I just got here. Poor girl was nice but confused. I asked for a manager, but some other girl was trying to charge us out before we could complain. Some other young girl came up and presented herself as a manager when I was expecting the big tall guy to hear us out but he continued sitting in the booth not really caring. I told her about our experience, and all she said was sorry that she'll talk to our server. How is that his fault? Isn't the manager the one who assigns breaks to servers, therefore assign one of the other waiters doing nothing to continue serving us? Hey Butter Smith ever wonder why you're labor % is running too high? You should check how your establishment is running poorly and losing sales with this kind of experience. Usually someone drops the ball somewhere, but it seemed everyone was dropping balls everywhere in this case, and probably contributing to your poor sales at the time we were there. Not a good way to try to recover what you invested in changing the restaurant name, look, and staff. Good luck. I'll go...
Read moreMy 18 year old grandson wanted to go here for breakfast. It was a party of six people, including one child. First my husband called at 8:00 am to see if we could call ahead for a party that big, at 9:30 am. The girl that answered said we needed to call when we were on our way. When I did, the girl who answered my call took my info but when we got there she told me that they don't do that there (Strike one). She tells me it would be a 15 minute wait. Then one minute later our table was ready, they sit us in a circular booth next to a large party that was literally were breathing down our necks...(COVID...STRIKE two). We order 4, all you can eat menudo's and one ultimate breakfast. The waiter we had was the worst waiter there. Got our drinks but took forever to come back to take our order. I asked about an item on the menu, if he could tell me about it, he directed me to the next page of the menu and says that but with eggs. He never asked if pancakes or toast. Rarely came back to our table but was at the large table next to us a lot. The menudo was awful so three of us did not ask for seconds. We waited for him to come so we could get our tab so we could pay. He says you pay me and takes off. My husband found our bill on the floor, and he never came back so we paid cash and left the money on the table. We were in our car leaving when this waiter comes out looking for us (Strike three). I did complain to the manager, this Manger has been there since a long time but he just past our table the whole time. He is a nice manager, always on the floor. That waiter though,my daughter even said he had an attitude. VILLAGE INN PLEASE COME BACK, BETTER FOOD,...
Read moreOverall I enjoyed my experience, but other than the service, and to a certain extent the decor, nothing really stood out. The food was good, typical American diner fare, with enough options to satisfy just about any craving. I just can't give it more than 3 stars as nothing on the menu really generated any excitement in me, it's similar to their national chain competitors. Now don't get me wrong, it tasted very good, the hash browns were the only real complaint I had, as they were bland and would have benefited from some salt during cooking, instead of having me add it later.
Now I did love the decor. The pastels made for a soothing and relaxed environment, and I was very excited that there was bar seating. When I'm out on Sundays, I'm usually alone, and I'm not particularly fond of taking a whole table to myself. There is also a certain level of personal attention you get at bar seating, that you just don't get at a table. Overall it was a very modern looking diner and very welcoming.
The service was amazing. I rarely saw the bottom of my coffee cup, everyone at the bar was helpful and friendly. My food arrived in a prompt fashion, and they were busy for Sunday brunch.
I did enjoy my time at the restaurant, and I wish there was some way to give a half star, because they were better than 3, but not quite to 4. I will certainly...
