We had tried this restaurant when they first opened and were very happy with the experience. Today, we decided to order via GrubHub as we had a very busy day at our office and couldn't leave. I ordered two gyro with pita, as evidenced in the first screenshot as well as a side order of pita for my daughter's meal. When our order arrived, there wasn't any pita. Just three small boxes of meat, one including the rice and meat for our daughter. I called the restaurant and asked why our order was missing pita bread on all three orders, a gentleman came on the phone and stated I made an incorrect order, that I only ordered meat as a side item and nothing else.
Confused, I hung up and checked the order. As reflected in the first sceenshot I did indeed order two gyro with pita bread, as well as a side order of pita with my daughter's meal. My husband called to let the gentleman know, and that we would really like what we paid for. His response was "No you didn't, that's not what you ordered. People get this wrong all the time on GrubHub." He did offer an unclear percentage off on our future order, but we really just wanted the pita bread we had clearly selected so we didn't have to eat meat with our hands... after checking back on the order, evidenced by the second screenshot, the menu item had been altered to reflect what the gentleman told us over the phone and he did not reach out to inform us that menu item was indeed incorrect. We feel very disrespected and upset with how this situation turned out. If this is how Gyro House continues to do business we will not be future patrons. We didn't want to leave a one star review as we did have the one good experience prior and he did make a cursory offer for our...
Read moreWell I go to UofL for some treatment, and I always go to new places to try new things. Their was some construction at the restaurant next door, so you had to maneuver the obstacles to get to Gyro House.
Also on Google maps, it will put you in a back alley. And no one i could find would sell me a back alley Gyro.
🌟 FYI it is next to the alley!
We walk in a few tables are filled, it is definitely an eat and go place. Also if you are using a credit/debit card, make sure you know what you want or you will be charged a fee each time you use the card. We peeked at the other people and thier portion sizes were huge. The cook seemed a little hot and focused. So I felt like I had to spit out my order.
I got the gyro combo, stuffed grape leaves (cold) and a piece of the Baklava. The combo was delicious it comes with a pita, and the meat and vegetables and rice or fries.
TRUST ME Thier rice 🍚 is AMAZING 👏.
Your plate will have enough meat and vegetables for two gyros. Thier menu online, has incorrect prices. But for the price of two gyros and rice it is a steal. The grape leaves were super amazing, and a fun little eat. It is served with tzaziki sauce, which again fresh and tasty.
Now the sad 😥 part was the Baklava. I am use to the Baklava being a decadently honey coated dessert with honey sweetened walnuts suspended in crisp filo dough, and the dough must be flakey. The Baklava was served from a pie container, which ( I think) took away the crispness of the filo dough. It was not rich nor crisp, when talking to friends I said it was nothing to write home about. It was not bad, but it was meh.

Read moreI'm enjoying this new food mall in Etown, it's nice to have options for eating out and it's convenient to have multiple restaurants, coffee shops, etc all in one strip mall. Gyro has very good food and excellent service. It's on the pricer end of the spectrum, but we've come to expect that in today's economy. Lunch for two came in at $27. But the portions were generous and I was really impressed with the one man show going on behind the counter. The guy handled the lunch rush like a pro. He did it all and never acted like he was overwhelmed. I don't know how he did it. His excellent service was truly appreciated. I had the lamb gyro and it was very good. I will be back! Please tip...
