Context: It was my second time at the Ridge with my two friends. I had great experience on my first visit with my husband and recommended the restaurant for my friend's birthday. We had dinner prior so we were ordering cocktails and dessert.
We (3 people) arrived there around 7 pm and we chose to seat near the window. The waitress who waited on us was friendly at first but her vibe and tone became different when we stated we were only ordering desserts and drinks. I even complimented her necklace because it geniunely look beautiful. (I always do compliment any server wherever I go to lighten up the mood.) We asked her about the cocktails and she gave an honest opinion that she hasn't tasted all of the drinks on the menu so she can't give us feedback on some of the drinks my friend mentioned. My friends decided to experiment and try new drinks. The waitress delivered our drinks and a different girl delivered the 3 desserts that we ordered. The food were delicious and we all agreed that the Tres Leches was the best among the 3 (Crepe and Brownie). The drinks were too strong for them so when the waitress came back I told her that they would want a different drink. She was taken a back first (like she looked annoyed) but we did mention that we'll still pay for the drinks. She thanked us and returned later with new drinks that they ordered. This time she said she will not leave until my friends drink their drinks and give her feedback. She stated this in a demanding tone. Maybe she is in a hurry or maybe she was worried we'll make her go back again. I don't know but her tone has not been welcoming or friendly. I let it go and we tried to enjoy our time. Around 7:40 more people were arriving but all were seated by the booth or by the bar area. She came back around this time to check on us and we said that we're still working on food and drinks. She stated "ok, take your time" (still with a unwelcoming tone) and rolled her eyes while turning her back on us. This is when I snapped. I asked her if we have been troubling her and she turned back with a suprised look. I asked if we have offended her and she said "why would you offend me?". I stated that she has been giving us a negative vibe. I don't remember exactly what she stated after that but I did mentioned that she doesn't need to roll her eyes at us. I didn't yell or made a scene. No apologizes no nothing and she never waited on us after. But the best part was that the girl who delivered our food earlier came to our table and gave us our bill without us asking it. We felt as though that we were being booted passive aggressively. My friend stated that we wanted to finish our drinks and stay longer but the girl stated that "oh you can stay but I also don't want to wait for you guys". This was around 7:50. She was friendly earlier but her tone clearly changed. After that, we didn't enjoy our time. We were not disruptive or super loud. We were speaking in our own language and laughing and engaging like normal people. Plus, no one was seated around us. I was disappointed because I was actively recommending the Ridge to friends and family. However, I would not visit an establishment if I would meet with disrepect. Our experience left poor taste on our mouth despite the great...
Read moreI met Mario Alfaro (owner) and they've been here 1 year now. He said it's going well and I can see why.
The food is fantastic! Most flavorful I've had in quite awhile. And something very unique about this restaurant is that you can order a half portion or a full portion and the price is literally half the price I have never seen that before! A nice sized pour for a $10 glass of wine was also well received at our table.
My wife had the Wood Oven Salmon fillet - Pistachio Crusted Salmon Fillet Sour Orange Butter Gratin with Catalan style Spinach on Aromatic Tomato .
The accompanying spinach was the most unique and flavorful I've ever tasted and paired perfectly with the salmon.
The unique menu makes me feel like I am in a high-end restaurant - but it's a bargain.
He has a catering space next door for your events and the ability to transform the back end of the restaurant into a Club experience or live music with stage if needed too. Late night fun. It would be a great Holiday Party location.
I had the Coffee Rubbed Picanha Steak with Guajillo Mushrooms and Rustic Garlic Mashed Potatoes. Delish! Sweet and savory all at once. Such a creative dish. $14 - NOT Kidding!
For an appetizer we had the Wood Oven Buffalo Mozzarella Bocconcini with Sauteed Porcini Mushrooms & Tomato Pearls in Red Wine Reduction with Parsley Aroma served with Garlic Buttered Crostini. Again very unique and tasty!
You should not miss this restaurant if you come to Ellensburg, Washington. We were just passing through and stumbled upon it on a lark. We stayed at the Hotel Windrow nearby and walked here.
All the employees are personable and attentive.
Seriously don't...
Read moreWe stopped on the way home to seattle. Now we will drive back just to eat there. The reviews attracted us and the food confirmed the rave reviews. The staff friendliness was exceptional. They were genuinely friendly, not just pumping pleasantries for tips. Josua was a vibrant host who we suspected was a manager based on the interest he showed in our reactions to food and compliments about food. He was delightfully energized with a winning swagger that said he was proud of the place. Brianna was more a bestie than a waitress. She took the time to visit and remark about the Character of different wine. And when the kitchen accidentally served up The smaller size of the phenomenal coffee crusted steak she brought the full size and told us to keep both! The bacon wrapped shrimp on Plantains was sensational. Even the side salad was a taste sensation. All this at prices 1/2 of Seattle's restaurants. We are fans.
Only improvement would be in signage. We almost drove by as it looked dark and the only visible sign said Monday open 3 to 9 pm which evidently referred to hours of a drink special. Under that in tiny print was store hours we couldn't see from the car. They should switch that signage putting hours open in large letter on top. To add to the confusion on another window was as sign listing the days of the week but with no hours listed next to the days, so it really looks like it's closed all 7 days of the week. But maybe it's good it's not too obvious when they are open because the lack of a crowd gave us personal and plentiful attention...
