We tried Dewey's on a recommendation and were not a fan. Very bougie ingredients that when combined lead to a bland disappointing flavor. When we offered to host a small birthday party and the guest of honor requested Dewey's we accommodated. No noticeable difference in pizza quality, but this time I placed the order over the phone, a day in advance. A gentleman took my order and I offered to pay in advance via debit card. He took my info and said thanks. I then had to specifically ask for a total, and was told $63 and some change. Then I was asked if I wanted to leave a tip. I don't typically tip for carry out, but seeing as we're in the midst of a pandemic and the food service industry is struggling, why not? I told him to add 15 percent. The next day a couple of girls walked our pizzas out to my car and we went home. Note we did not receive a receipt at this time. A few days later, the bill hits my bank statement at $93. That's nearly a 50% tip I thought. Was this an accident? Are they inflating tips? I contacted the store more to make sure they were aware of the situation in case an employee had gone rogue. I asked for no money in return or refund or discount and was still meet with aggression and defiance while speaking with a manager, and asked if they could look further into it. The manager contact me back and said they would have a copy of my receipt emailed to me and we could go from there. To my surprise, when my receipt showed up, it was for $81 and some change plus a 15% tip, which would make it $93. The items on the receipt matched what I had ordered. If this is truly what was owed then again, I have no bones to pick about it. But would like to point out that I was given the wrong total over the phone which lead to the confusion. I responded to the email and thanked them for the effort and follow through to help me understand what had actually taken place, and recommended that if they were going to take orders over the phone and accept payment that way, they needed to get the information correct and may want to ensure that their employees were properly trained to do so. Crickets. Not even so much as an apology. Seems Dewey's has more than their bougie pizza...
Read moredewey's. pizza. is. awesome!! i can't speak as to its new york authenticity, as i've never been to new york, but i'm sure that doesn't matter since it's so delicious. a little pricey, yeah, but i think it's worth the splurge! i also enjoy sampling the craft beers from time to time. some of them are delish, some of them are eh. i come here every so often and i'm friends with one of the waitresses. i dunno if she wants me putting her name on the internet, but she's super awesome and she got me into the place in the first place! not to mention super knowledgeable about the menu. i had no idea what makes a good pizza until she came along. not to mention the rest of the staff are super cool too.
just be careful when you order a large pizza. they're really large. like, really really large. i ordered one one time and i ended up eating pizza exclusively for 2 days.
also, i know it's for kids, i really do, but i just love watching the pizzas get made through...
Read moreI cannot believe the lengths to which the Dewey's staff went to tonight in order to accommodate my girlfriend and I. We love the calzones here, and we had both ordered calzones with similar ingredients. When our food was arriving, it was revealed that the ingredients were slightly off what we had ordered. The Dewey's staff not only offered to make new calzones for us with the right ingredients, but also asked if we would like to take home the other two! (As they said they would just end up throwing them away anyway). We got our new calzones after a very short wait, and they did not disappoint. When the bill came, the only thing we were charged for was my iced tea. Outstanding service! They exceeded any and all...
