Donut Palace STL — Restaurant in Ellisville

Went there for the 1st time ever this morning (Thursday). Arrived at 9:00 and there were only apple fritters and 1/2 dozen random donuts which were not iced or filled in any way. If you want a chocolate long John, then forget about it. I got a plain donut which they iced with chocolate and another one they filled with jelly. Then was told $4. WHAT? 2 donuts cost $4? I paid for them and ate them outside at the table out front. EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED in this place. I drove over 30 minutes just to give them a try (I do love donut shops). Watched many other customers walk in, see bare pastry shelves and then walk right back out. Locals may patronize them but I cannot. Save your money and find another place.

I walked in and nobody was there to greet me. I was the only customer in the store I later figured out the counter person who walked out just before I entered was out chatting with someone who was in a car. After a few minutes she came in barely said hi and she’d be with me in a second. Pulled an order together, went in the back and did some stuff, took it out to the car and kept chatting with whoever was in the car, she comes back in doesn’t say anything to me and starts doing something else. I made the comment you’re going back out? She said they need napkins. It’s obvious now to me she was talking to a friend or family. I said forget it and left. I stood there for FIVE minutes with her gabbing to her friend before I left. I have never been there it was obvious whoever she took a donut and coffee to was more important than acknowledging me. BEST DONUTS EVER!

I went in just this morning (6/6) at around 6:25AM to pick up a dozen donuts. Not going to lie, my plan was to try them all for myself! Lol! I looked at DP’s FB page before deciding to head in, so I knew the owner was the one behind the counter who ended up helping me. Extremely friendly lady with a warm smile. I was happy to see she has a lot of regular customers- it was apparent she knew several of those who came in behind me.

The donuts I selected were EXCELLENT! There was a huge variety and they are beautifully displayed. VERY FRESH! As others stated, the apple fritter is huge and delicious. My favorite was a glazed donut with caramel on top. All were extremely fresh and flavorful. I highly recommend Donut Palace for any of your donut cravings.
