Prager Bread is excellent. They definitely love their craft. But getting your hands on some is...well...."challenging". To make it easier (sarcasm intended), Prager opened their Encinitas store in a location that is (a) difficult to get to, (b) has no parking, (c) has limited business hours until 4:30 PM and (d) is unable to handle customer traffic efficiently.
For a while Jimbo's was carrying Prager bread. Which was awesome, because I could get in and get out and that made "buying bread" the trivial exercise that is suppose to be. But that relationsihp ended....apparently.
At the Encinitas store, I've observed that they can literally spend 5 minutes handling a single customer. So waiting in line a long time is expected when there's a line of customers. It's almost like they don't want me to "really" buy their bread. Like it's an exlusive item that I need to drive 10 miles out of the way for, hunt for parking, wait in line for 20 minutes and then pay a premium for the overall experience.
I love the bread.....but I'm not a fan of...
Read moreI love going to Prager Bros to get pastries! They are located in a busy area in Encinitas so parking can be difficult. There is no seating at the bakery. We got there at around 8:15 am on a Friday and the bakery case was not fully stocked. We were hoping to get a ham & cheese croissant but we were told those come from the Carlsbad store and are usually in Encinitas 30-45 minutes after opening. The woman behind the counter says they sell out quickly so you can order them ahead and they will set them aside for you. We got a croissant breakfast sandwich with egg, onion jam, and some greens. It was really tasty because the egg had some mushrooms mixed in. I would highly recommend the breakfast sandwich. Since the bakery case wasn't totally full, we didn't get to try any of the seasonal items but we got a chocolate croissant and almond croissant. Both were delicious! Definitely worth a stop for some...
Read moreI’ve been an avid shopper of Prager Bros for the last 6 months, largely buying their products at Seaside Market. For the last 3 weeks, I’ve been shopping at their Encinitas storefront instead. For the first time, I bought pizza crust from them, which I found in front of their display case. To my surprise, it became moldy 2 days later. I brought it back hoping they could offer a solution. One was not offered—worse yet, to my surprise, they told me that those display items were day-old products already and needed to be used same-day. I had no clue. It’s very possible I missed a sign, but I’m 90%+ certain there was not one (happy to retract this part of my review if so). I still recommend their products, but I can’t recommend the service at this location after this experience. I’ll be sticking to Seaside Market who would have offered a refund or...
