Nice hole in the wall Mexican food. Better prices than most as well.

Edit: Boy, did I just have a weird experience since my last review 5 years ago:

My fiancé and I recently ordered takeout from here, and unfortunately, the experience fell short of expectations. I ordered the flautas and she ordered the chimichanga, both dishes we'd enjoyed on previous visits, but this time, they were soggy and lacked their usual crispness. My fiancé was particularly disappointed with her chimichanga, which was inedible due to the sogginess. Normally we would let this sort of thing slide if it was just one of us with bad food, but both of us had bad food.

I called them to express our disappointment and inquire about a possible refund. However, the person who answered the phone, who also happened to take our order, was dismissive and accusatory. He claimed I was trying to get free food, which was unprofessional and upsetting. He basically said he thought I might call back and get free food, all because I made an offhand comment about the price when we were placing the order. No, actually I was not calling because of the price. I agreed to pay for it at the time, and that was my choice to live with. I thought maybe he would be receptive to take my complaint so that they could maybe not make the same mistake in the future. Unfortunately all I got were accusations. He did eventually refund my money, but after leaving a really bad taste of my mouth.

Given the quality of the food and the unpleasant interaction, we're hesitant to return in the future. While we've had positive experiences in the past, this recent incident left a real...

Raul’s has been my go to street food since I moved to the area six months ago. I have tried many different things on the menu, and always leave full and excited for my next visit. I have taken many friends to Raul’s, and all have confirmed it is the absolute best (and most underrated) spot on the Encinitas strip. The food is very fresh, tasty, great portion sizes, reasonably priced, and is made quickly and efficiently. The staff here from the owners down to the high school students who work the weekends are all excellent. They are kind, professional, and are always a joy to chat with. For anyone looking for great affordable Mexican food on the strip or beyond, I cannot recommend a visit to Raul’s enough!!

While parking isn’t the easiest, there is always a ton of parking off Vulcan, and near moonlight beach with a...

I think people are being way too nice about the food purely for the convenience of it being by the beach. In terms of not losing your parking spot and wanting food this place is a great. But imma be honest, as a burrito guy.. this place is mediocre at best. You’ll pay about $13-$15 for a California burrito depending on your tip and you’ll get a burrito about the size of something you should have paid about $6 for.

Over priced and under delivered is the most accurate way I could describe it. But given that it’s 2 blocks from the beach i guess I t’s to be expected.

Expect to pay about $15 per person for pretty mediocre food and small portions. But if you’re at the beach and people are hungry this...

Raul’s Shack is definitely a cute little spot with plenty of those laid-back Encinitas vibes going on. It has the kind of charm that makes you want to grab a seat, soak in the beach-town energy, and maybe hang out longer than you planned. That said, the fish tacos I tried were just okay. Not bad, but nothing that really stood out or made me want to rave about them. For a town known for great tacos, these felt more middle-of-the-road than memorable. Worth stopping by if you’re nearby and want the casual vibe, but I wouldn’t make a special trip just for the food.

Ordered a Carne asada burrito for $10 and received like 70% torilla instead. This was the only taco/mexican food in the area so I had my expectations low already and it did pan out that way. When there's no competition there's no incentive to improve your food. Also no restrooms for paying customers. Wanted hot sauce but they only had a mild salsa Avoid if possible.

Hot spot for the locals crowd Location is pretty small, you'll have to be lucky to get parking or seating Prices are ridiculous Awesome! Nothing over $10 The food wasn't to bad, not extremely traditional but close. My order got messed up, wanted a shrimp burrito got fish. (They're both from the ocean right?) I'd come back and give it another shot
