Walked into The Great Greek @ 8:23pm (they close at 9pm) only to be told that we can’t sit and eat. Meanwhile, literally someone just finished ordering in front of us and wasn’t told he couldn’t sit and eat here. There were 2 other tables of 4 people just recently getting their food and eating and talking and taking their sweet time. No sign posted anywhere outside or inside that no seating after a certain time. Also, it’s a fairly fast food type establishment…doesn’t take more than 15mins or so to eat a gyro. Unless, they were taking over 20 mins to prepare the food, there’s absolutely no way we would not have been out of there well before 9pm. If your hours are open until 9pm and don’t specify sit down cuts off at 8:23pm then you shouldn’t pick and choose who you allow to sit down to eat and who you won’t allow to sit…that is called discrimination. To make matters worse, the girl working the register was extremely rude and didn’t say sorry or anything like, yeah, sorry, our policy just changed or offer any explanation whatsoever. I asked if there was a manager available because it seemed strange that we were being singled out and told we had to take our food to go when the restaurant was open for 30 plus minutes and had 10 people in there (8 had their food and were just starting to eat) another 2 were waiting to get their food and got their food and ate it in the restaurant while we waited for ours and were told we had to take it to go. Felt very odd and discriminatory. I asked to speak with a manager and she said there wasn’t one. She said I could leave my name & # which I didn’t feel comfortable doing. I asked her when a manager would be available and she said Alejandro is the manager and will be Tomorrow at 11am. I will call and see what he has to say about why we were singled out. If they offer any sort of explanation or apology or anything. I will update my review. But, based on the poor customer we received I don’t have any hope that they will remedy...
Read moreThis place is relatively new at the St Rose area. When we arrived, they acknowledged us. When we were ready to order, the woman behind the counter picks up the phone and ignores us for another five minutes while handling the order she got on the phone. She proceeds to take our order. When we were done, she stares at us to be sure that we gave her a tip. We still didn't. The guy behind the counter is busting out the orders and bussing tables.
There was an older woman who may be the manager popping in and out. They had started to get busy, so she ties up her hair and starts touching the food orders. She was sweating, touched her sweaty head, and then handled take out orders. Those poor people have no idea. Another woman came in for work and started helping out. There's a sink right next to where they handle food. None of them washed their hands. Some of them had gloves on, but I didn't see any of them change out their gloves. The first woman who helped us scratched her head with the gloves on AND handled food immediately after.
The ladies behind the counter have quite the staring problem too. I don't think they were staring at us, but the group behind us.
The food was okay. We are there an hour ago, but I'm still tasting the large, eye watering serving of onion when I took my third bite. I wouldn't go back solely under the premise of how they were not sanitary. 2 stars because the food was decent. I just got a TON of onions in my gyro and couldn't taste anything...
Read moreI recently dined at The Great Greek on St. Rose and came away with mixed feelings. On the positive side, the food, when it did arrive, was quite enjoyable. This aspect of my experience was commendable and worth noting.
However, there were significant downsides to my visit. The service was notably slow. It took a long time for our food to come out, which was a bit frustrating. While I understand that quality dishes take time, the wait seemed excessive compared to other dining experiences.
The ambiance of the restaurant was another area that disappointed me from the overall experience. Throughout my meal, there was noticeable noise coming from the staff in the back. It sounded like they were either talking loudly or possibly having a disagreement. This background noise was quite distracting and, unfortunately, there was no music playing in the dining area to mitigate this. A more peaceful or at least a more lively ambiance with some music would have significantly improved the atmosphere.
I'm giving The Great Greek on St. Rose a 3-star rating. While the food itself was quite good, the slow service and the less-than-ideal ambiance due to the staff noise in the background were major letdowns. I hope these issues can be addressed, as the quality of the food...
