Cindy, We came in for some food after a performance last night, 11/22/14, at around 11pm. I was not really hungry but I ordered some food anyway. I feel bad taking up space in a restaurant and not eating. I ordered a vanilla shake and grilled cheese sandwich about 10 minutes after arriving. You served my friend his shake, then brought our food. I thought maybe you missed my milkshake order or forgot, so I thought I'd mention it. Your comment was that the shake machine had to be cleaned and you hadn't had time. There was a bite in your tone and I was surprised because I didn't think I had been impolite, just wanted to verify it was coming. 30 minutes later you brought my vanilla shake. We had all finished our meal except for a few fries. I have to admit, at this point I was annoyed. I said something like "you can't just bring that at the end of the meal" or "but its the end of the meal." You responded responded something like, "I couldn't bring it earlier because the machine needed to be cleaned." You were rude in the way you said it. It was past midnight when I got the shake. I didn't say anything else. I didn't drink the shake. I don't mind if you are busy and are behind and can't bring something on time or if you forgot it. But I do mind the attitude and I do mind if you intentionally made me wait another 30 minutes after the first time I inquired about the shake. You kind of soured my experience at your restaurant. I was charged for the shake. I didn't say anything. We paid our bill. We paid a tip. But I will never eat at your...
Read moreI had ordered two burgers and asked that the veggies be placed on the side. When I picked up my order, they had forgotten my veggies. I called them to let them know they forgot my lettuce, tomato, & onions for both burgers. They asked if I was going to come back and pick them up. I said yes, but asked if I could be compensated for my troubles and having to drive back there. They said yes; they would give me free cheesecake. I was happy with that, and said okay. When I arrived, my order was not ready. I had to stand there and wait for a while. It shocked me because it's not like anything needed to be cooked. It was literally just lettuce, tomato, onion, and cheesecake. I ask for the manager and told him the issue. At that moment, there was a new customer who arrived after me (after I had already been waiting there for a while), and the manager said to me, "Let me help him first." Even the customer said, "You're more important than me. You were here first and they messed up your order." My sentiments exactly. I was turned off by this customer service. It was a hassle to drive back there. I do appreciate the free cheesecake, but this mistake should not have happened in the first place, in addition to me having to stand there waiting a while. Then, to have the manager brush me off to the side to help someone else first who had arrived after me. This was just an overall bad experience and I will not be returning there. I will also let everyone I know to not give this Denny's...
Read moreThe Denny’s in Escondido was great for a late morning breakfast. I met up with one of my friends and we enjoy the time. The place is nice and quiet. There is light duty music in the background, kinda like KYXY 96.5 style music. Perfect for San Diego. It keeps the ambience just alive enough to where it doesn’t feel dead. They didn’t have too many people on staff, but there were only maybe 10 tables filled up. So even though there wasn’t a big staff, we didn’t feel like we were delayed at all. Our server came up and took our order almost immediately and got us drinks within a minute or two. Super fast, which was really nice. It’s these kind of places where I get ideas for writing chapters with interesting characters that I see. Denny’s is really good for that. Getting into the parking lot is a little bit strange because it’s not connected to the fast food joints next-door or anything else. As soon as you come off the freeway, you have to watch out. The bathrooms were clean and the floor looks really nice. It’s a faux wood tile style, so it actually gives the place a much better look rather than the industrial linoleum tiles of other places. It’s a nice touch. The food was good and priced about right for Denny’s in Southern California. We ordered the classic breakfast and end up accidentally getting bacon instead of sausage. Bu the server took care of it immediately so no problems on small issues. We were very happy with the service, good,...
