I actually really like this place. Sort of an interesting location being where the 99 meets the highway entrance right at the edge of downtown... parking entrances on either side.
First time (a couple years ago) we visited was taco Wednesday. They were delicious. I also got finger steaks that night but I wasn't terribly impressed with those. We knew we liked it that night but then didn't go back again until this week.
Darn it we should've. I really enjoy the food here. Environment is really a bar. But the booths for eating are nice. There's a patio that is well used in nicer weather. Sports on TV's throughout the location. Darts, pool, etc are available...
I like the variety of appetizers. We got fried zucchini this time but they have tots, fries, hummus, fried mozzarella, mac n cheese wedges, mini chimichangas, nachos (which I hear are fantastic but I couldn't eat by myself and no one else wanted with me). Fried zucchini are crispy... small little things kinda like fries and were very very good!
Dad got the Hog burger this time and it was fairly disappointing. Only it did have all the toppings (burger, ham, pulled pork, bacon and cheese) just was short for all the toppings lol the flavor was awesome so that's good... we just expected it to be an inch thick lol
Mom good the French dip. It was tender, has great flavor and a good portion of meat. The au jus had a bit of an onion flavor which was yummy. The side salads with both that and the burger were fresh and a pretty good portion. The blue cheese dressing was good as well.
I got the philly cheesesteak... primarily because they use the cream cheese as is properly done in philly. Iasked for mushrooms which they happily added. I wish there was more, I wish they put mushrooms on it automatically, and I wish they had a cheese sauce not sliced swiss cheese. The meat was the same for this one. It's like prime rib I think. Thin sliced.
I got tots... and they were delicious.
I also got an order of mini corn dogs to go. Those were great too.
Service was fantastic from both the chef, who brought out our food, and the server. She was friendly and upbeat. It was very busy so once we wanted to order it took awhile to get assistance again but just know it's a bar and so if people are ordering and needing drink service, they will be served first ya know?
Wish I had come here more before I...
Read moreGoodtimes is a great little bar. It is located right off the ferry street bridge and in the heart of downtown. Right across the street from the 5th street market this bar is nestled away from other businesses and the lack of close quarters competition shows as this place seems to always have a decent amount of steady and regular customers no matter the time of day. Goodtimes has good food at a fair price, not the cheapest food but it taste much better than the cheapest food ever does. They do have .75 tacos on Wednesdays if you require spending under $5 at your watering hole. The nice thing about this place is they have a huge outdoor deck that has everything you would want inside with the exception being there is no bar outside. They do have 2 pool tables on the outside deck, multiple tv's are attached to the ceiling/roof/awning of this completely covered open air outdoor area. The outdoor area has heaters as well for the 11.5 months out the year that it is raining in Eugene too. There is plenty of seating indoor and outdoor and drinks are poured properly for a price that is more wallet friendly than the food menu may be, depending on your taste and expectations of course. They also have pool tables and plenty of tv's inside with a full line of video lottery machines as well. The staff are solid and have their on days mixed with some off ones too but in general they have a solid staff. Goodtimes is one of those places you might or have driven by hundreds of times but the first time you decide to stop and check the place out, you will be be...
Read moreGood location and cheap food specials. Okay beer selection. Service with an attitude.
The Good: Location is great. Beware the parking location as part is reserved for a federal building. Food specials are cheap and food is honestly pretty good for it (tacos were fantastic). Beer selection isn't that bad either. Lots of room inside to spread out and good patio seating.
The Bad: Service. I guess I got someone who didn't know anything about the beer they had, but didn't want to just say they didn't know. They kept just staring at me when I asked about their beer and what type it was or saying "Yeah" to an either / or question where yeah is not an appropriate response. Unnecessary.
The Meh: The lottery / gambling games are a bit noisy. Ran out of the food special (buck fifty tacos, yum) pretty quickly which was sad, but understandable -...
