I’m very disappointed to say that Handle’s was super anti-vegan, lacked covid precautions, and lack luster in flavor. Not only did it take over 30 minutes waiting in line with a gaggle of anti-maskers, but the place was severely under staffed and genuinely the slowest moving line I’ve ever been in- and I’m from Portland, the land of lines for ice cream. People were not mandated to wear their masks, the shop was overly crowded with no social distance precautions, and the staff clearly were not supported in handling such a huge crowd. My partner and I are very lactose intolerant and by force vegan and we were told that handle’s has awesome vegan flavors- and I cannot explain how appalled I am at this recommendation. First off, out of 40 flavors, only 4 were either lactose free (which is not dairy free) or vegan. They had absolutely no description for those flavors unlike all the fun and tasty description for the milk ones, so we didn’t even know what we were committing to. We ended up going with one of the two vegan flavors- almond chocolate. I wish I was kidding when I say it is the worst vegan ice cream I have ever had- and I’ve tried so many bad vegan ice creams and I’ve made my own too. And this one sucked so bad lol. The chocolate almond is basically frozen water with coco powder, no almonds, and brown dye. Very bland, not sweet at all, and mostly just tasted like ice. Overall, 10/10 don’t recommend. I would only go if you enjoy anti mask breath on your ice cream and have no dietary...

Absolutely amazing ice cream!! i always get the cake batter and it’s always delicious. When i went this time i got my husband the carrot cake and since we had never tried it before we asked to sample, the sample we got was delicious it had very good flavor exactly as described. ā€œcarrot cake flavored ice cream with cream cheese swirlā€ so i get him a quart of it, which is $11.50. when we get home and he starts eating it we discover it has raisins in it, he is allergic to grapes/ raisins. it’s very upsetting that it’s not included in the description. Also wanted to mention that when we walked walked in there was a line, no biggie, 2-3 people working front perfect for the amount of customers. but minutes after we walked in everyone except one girl left the front area. so they all just left this girl to deal with the huge line alone. i felt bad. 3 people ended up leaving because it was taking so long but She did amazing dealing with all...

The ice cream was good. Lots of options. The space is cute. Biggest problem was the energy level. Maybe it was just an off day, but ice cream is supposed to be fun right? The staff weren’t unfriendly or rude, but they certainly didn’t make any effort at all to be particularly friendly either. Whole experience was apathetic. Granted, ice cream isn’t exactly fast food, but there seemed to be a general lack of urgency - this is pretty important when your entire ā€œkitchenā€ is open for all to see. With a (socially distanced, of course) line down the sidewalk, ya gotta pick up the pace a little. Perhaps some music could really liven it up and maybe put some tempo and upbeat mood...

The staff person was very friendly but clearly overworked. She did her best but had no help in a busy environment. The ice cream was not the best this time. Between us we had 4 scoops: we liked 1 and didn't like 3. Tin lizzy was great. Chocoholic was too bitter. Graham canyon was crystalline in texture but had a delicious caramel stripe. The French silk was not very good at all. We have had better from this place. Just a bad visit, I hope. I have never liked their waffle cones/bowls. I have always found them dry and without much flavor.

I recently visited for some ice cream and had mixed feelings about the experience. The ice cream itself was fantastic, with a great range of flavors, including some excellent non-dairy options that really impressed me. However, the service was very slow, as there was only one employee working the entire location. While he was incredibly helpful and provided great customer service, it took about 30 minutes to get our order due to the lack of staff. If they could speed up the service, this place would be perfect!

Nothing like some great ice cream in the middle of December. Our whole group really enjoyed their ice cream and Sundays. The staff was very nice and outside there was a seating area with heaters. This place is very conveniently only like 200 ft from the Gordon hotel. Highly recommended stop for anyone traveling.
