Pendleton has apparently tried hard to soften it systematic policy of coopting First Nation cultural symbols. To what extent that has absolved them from recrimination for doing so is something that only native folks can resolve. Moving along; Pendleton's promotional language makes it pretty clear that they take great pride in being an American company,, literally from the ground up. Those Cascade Mountain meadows have, perhaps forever, been altered by Pendleton sheep. Corporate Pendleton may willing to tout the virtues of their charitable contributions to various native American institutions, but try getting them to talk about the damage their sheep have done to the wild sheep populations across the Cascade landscape.
