I've been going here for a few months after some friends introduced me to the place. I typically get sushi about twice a month and absolutely love eating it. I love their half-priced dine in menu, atmosphere, wait staff, and food presentation. I've also typically got two of the same waiters every time I go and both of them are fantastic. My standard order is the Olympic Roll and Philadelphia Roll, and some Edemame if I want an extra treat. My previous visit last month, I got subpar food - both rolls were disappointing, but I figured it was just a fluke. So, I went in today. The edemame and Olympic Roll were amazing as usual. Unfortunately, I got barely any salmon in the Phadelphia Roll, which was the issue I had last time I was there. It might as well have been a cucumber and cream cheese roll - the oz or two of salmon within the roll did not contribute to the taste of texture of the roll at all. This has not been an issue when I first started eating there, but it seems to be now. I gave them a chance to fix it this time. I told my waiter (one of my regular ones) about the issue and he took it back. The chef sent it back to me with no changes telling my waiter to tell me that's how they make it for everyone and everyone else likes it. I'm not one to make a scene and call a manager or anything, so I just smiled and said OK. My waiter did feel bad about it and apologized. I ate the food and tipped well (it wasn't my waiter's fault), but I do vote with my dollar and will probably be taking my business to another sushi place I like in Fargo going forward. Philadelphia Rolls are a favorite of mine when eating sushi. It's a very simple but flavorful roll if made correctly, and it tells me a lot about the place I'm eating at. I've attached an image of a well-made philly roll - they are suposed to have equal parts salmon, cream cheese, and cucumber/avocado. If a resturant is skimping on the salmon - obviously the most expensive part of the roll - what else are they neglecting in their quality of food? I typically will order a Philadelphia Roll at all new sushi places I eat and go from there because of this. As long as 1/3 of the roll has salmon, I'm happy. If a place goes the extra mile to add a bit more, they have my kuddos. HOWEVER, I will avoid places that choose to cheat thier customers by making the roll as cheap as possible (I travel and eat sushi a lot - this happens but not as bad as my attached photos here). I get I ordered this off the half priced menu, but I would rather pay a buck or two more for a well-made roll than be provided the illusion of a deal for something that isn't what I agreed to pay for. I don't know if it was the chef, manager, or owner than has decided to lower thier quality of service/food, but it has gone downhill since I first started eating there and I am thoroughly disappointed.

Food is ok, nothing wrong with it but I've tasted better in other Japanese restaurants.

My husband and I went to Kobes steakhouse Hibachi and sushi. It was a Tuesday evening so there was only a few customers at the Hibachi griddles. The menu was a bit confusing so I asked our server for help she was happy to guide me and explained the menu was separated into the different food experiences: lunch (no Hibachi) Sushi. The dinner menu offered Hibachi, Sushi, and of course, Steakhouse menu included authentic Japanese dishes. We chose the Hibachi experience which quite entertaining. I had Lobster and Shrimp stir fried rice, added noodles, and Mushroom Soup which is more like broth. When the Chef handed us our plates I was flabbergasted with the amount of food he handed me! A slightly larger than the average ten inch plate that was mounded with food! I ate on my leftovers for two days! By day three I needed to add some timari sauce. It all tasted so good! I was so taken a back the I had eaten a few bites before remembering to take photos. Fargo is a couple of hours driving time from Bemidji, so I won't be able to go back often but I will go back. I definitely will be suggesting Kobes to friends and family as a must go restaurant. One last thing, Kobes is family friendly restaurant.

I was seated fairly quickly by a nice young man. I gave him a bit of a hard time though, by not being decisive and not knowing the place; he handled it nicely, however he missed an opportunity to 'talk the place up' or give a favorite dish recommendation. The booth I was seated in was wobbly but clean - except the empty soy sauce container on the table. When the (only?) server did get to me she was quite kind, though she seemed a bit rushed. I think I saw 4 other occupied tables? I ordered the sushi dinner and hot tea. The miso soup was okay; didn't have a chalky aftertaste I've had at other places, some beautiful wakame (seaweed), and a bit of tofu cut strangely small. The sushi plate I got contained: 2 tuna, 2 salmon, 3 yellowtail or sea bass(?), 2 eel(?), and a California roll (I really should have taken a picture or something! Can't believe I've forgotten already!). Anyways, the tuna was a bit slimier than I'm used to and the crab in the roll was a little dry. The wasabi on the side looked like a green cookie dough ball. Otherwise, I thought everything was rather good for a decent price. I'd probably eat here again, but I don't know if I'd go out of my way to eat here. I can't say anything good or bad about the grill chefs as I didn't sit anywhere near a grill, nor did I order anything hot (besides the green tea, which was either a weak matcha or a...

My family has gone to Kobe’s many times and never had a issue. Tonight on the other hand was HORRIBLE! We waited a hour before they started cooking our food. When the chef finally came out, they threw everything on the grill at once. He then realized he had the order wrong resulting in a majority of our food being over cooked to the point that they had to go get NEW food to cook. This happened THREE times!! This service was so bad that two people, separate from our party, got up and walked out on their lobster meal. We had members of our party getting food after we all had finished and the server kept putting all the blame on the chef, yet he was no where to be found the majority of the night. I had to go up to the bar to get refills for the members of our group. After speaking to a ā€œmanagerā€ she stated she would give us a discount. ($15 off a $150 meal) After I stated that this wasn’t right as two PEOPLE got up and left without paying a dime due to horrible service she stated that’s all she can do. She said her manager was odd tonight. Well she went to go talk to another man (who I assume was the manager) so I walked over and he wouldn’t talk to me. They never made it right. We were there from 5:45 to 8:30. I won’t recommend this establishment to any family, friends, or...
