Went here for the first time post-pandemic (about 5 years) before going to the Deadpool3 movie. Not a good experience. I told the server I'd like a Juicy Lucy and that it was my first time ever having one. She said nothing about the burger. Food comes out and my burger is incredibly undercooked. It was not pink in the middle, it was red. All the outside edges of my burger were pink. When the server finally checked in with us (I had already finished all my fires at this point so it was a while) I asked the server if I missed on the menu where it said the burger would come undercooked. She quickly explained that because of the cheese in the middle that's just how it comes. This is not true at all as I've gone on Youtube and seen many Juicy Lucy burgers fully cooked. I can only assume the chefs they have are not as good as other places. The server did offer to refire something for me at no charge but I told them we had no time to wait 20 min again for food as we had a movie to get to (a shame cause I was still hungry). The server upon bringing the check had taken the burger off (I ate absolutely none of it ew) which I do appreciate. My total before she removed the burger was almost 30$, so I ended up paying 40$ anyway since after the initial mistake the server did everything they could to 'fix' it. So I paid 40$ for some fries and a drink and half an entree that I split with my friend. I ended up being pretty hungry DURING the movie. When I came here 5 years ago and had a burger, it did not come out like this. I have been to other restaurants that list how a burger will come out if unspecified. This was no where on Lucky's menu as I asked the server when they came back. The FDA recommends not eating pink or red burgers that have not been temped to 160F, and since this had cheese in the middle I cannot imagine that it was temped properly. Overall just incredibly disappointing experience. Let this review serve as a warning if you see it: be careful of the burgers at...
Read moreWhen our family travels across North Dakota, we have to stop at Lucky's 13. They not only have gluten-free options (like buns), but they also have the Juicy Lulu. It is the best burger we have ever had.
Melt-in-your-mouth.
In fact, my mouth is watering just thinking about it.
Let me back up a little, and wipe the drool off my face...we walked in, were greeted by friendly staff, and were taken to a seat (booth, hightop, or bar). They bring out popcorn! A lovely, light snack!
Our server was very attentive, heard our concerns about gluten contamination, answered our questions about which sides would be gluten-free, and when serving us, made it a point to keep our (our youngest son's and my) food separate from my husband's and our oldest son's.
Three of us had the Juicy Lulu, one had a hamburger (he is dairy-free also, poor kid!) They were all cooked to perfection, with incredible flavor. Here I go, drooling again.
I had the coleslaw, which is made fresh, and is the only coleslaw, in a restaurant, that I can eat without having tummy issues within an hour! (I love coleslaw and I am bit by every place except Lucky's!)
One kid had fruit, and the other two had fries, which, according to them, tasted amazing (I smelled them—they smelled heavenly, too!)
The other two also shared the tots, which were a mixture of potatoes, cheese, and other yumminess that I could only smell and drool over. (They are fried in a fryer that also fries items with gluten, so they (and the fries) are not safe for my tummy.)
While I would love to go on about how amazing everything was, including how clean the bathroom was, but, I need to go hydrate now that I have drooled all...
Read moreThe service was extremely slow. We were a table of eight just wanting some cocktails before a wedding reception. We had to seat ourselves as the only staff working by the front door was rolling silverware right by the entrance door (very tacky). Once we sat ourselves at a very large table to seat all of us, the hostess chew us out that we seated ourselves. Then we finally had a waitress come and take our drink order. It took 20 minutes to finally get our drinks. The waitress was really nice but clearly the only waitress waiting on all the guests! We ordered another round and to our dismay, it took another 20 minutes to get our second drink. There was one waitress and one bartender and the hostess and someone else rolling silverware. This was a Friday during happy hour. Where was the manager?? We would have stayed to have more drinks but left because service was just taking too long! The Lucky 13 lost out on a lot of money due to being understaffed and the other workers not knowing enough to step in and help the bartender and waitress. Just thought management...
