Great food with fair prices. Their hot dogs are some of the best! I have not tried their burgers yet, but I haven't heard complaints from anyone I know that has tried them. They definitely put plenty of toppings on the hot dogs, and the customer service was very good. There was a VERY long wait so if you are going to be in a hurry I suggest ordering for pick up or go through the drive thru. We waited a good 20-30 minutes to get our food and you have to stand in a group waiting to be called. There was a lot of stress on the employees with the large amount of people waiting on food but I thought they all handled it well. They kept patience and friendliness as well as a great work ethic. The area where they prepare food is visibleto customers and it all appeared clean. Workers had gloves and proper items on as needed when working with food from what I seen.
Everything is ala cart style so there are no combo meals here. It's in a way nice of you aren't super hungry but just want a little and in a way a downfall in my opinion. I do think there should be options for combo's as well as ala cart.
There are great decorations inside as well. Tons to look at antique wise, and just interesting pictures and pieces.
My biggest complaint is the cleanliness of the tables. The tables were gross and there were a few employees out on the floor that didn't seem concerned about the tables. They were keeping floors swept but I feel like tables should be a priority as well. Nobody wants to sit at a filthy table. I seen two employees walk right past filthy tables! One guy swept under one but didn't clean the table itself. I can see a place being busy but when you see employees walking past filthy tables there is no excuse. That is the only reason I didn't rate 5 stars for Portillos. We will be going back we just may opt to get take out rather than eat inside if the tables are...
Read moreThe picture of the chocolate cake pretty much sums up our experience, notice the fact that it still has not been eaten. That would be because they didn't give us a fork....or napkins....or a menu when we pulled up and told them it was our first time. But let's start at the beginning. We were in the far lane and the woman asked us for our order, we told her we had never been there before and couldn't see the menu well. She stood silently. We tried asking questions about the menu but received a lot of "I don't knows". Still we powered threw and were excited to try this new place. We ordered two cheese fries, an Italian beef, portobello mushroom sandwhich, cake shake, and a piece of cake. The drive thru line wasn't long. There were two cars in front of us and at least two behind us. There we sat for almost 20 minutes waiting on our food, as the drive thru girl walked bag after bag of food past our car to the vehicles behind us, repeatedly knocking into our mirror. Why didn't we just cut our loses there you might ask? Well, they make you pay when you order.. so we would have been out 30 dollars. Still we thought this food has to be good. When the girl finally stood outside our window, she didn't greet us but simply turned the woman in the window and said "Is this theirs?" And "Here" as she thrust the bags at us. We pulled away annoyed but excited to try the food. BUT our food must have been prepared much sooner than it was given to us because all though the flavors were good, the sandwhiches were tepid and the fries were the same. The only thing hot they gave us was the delicious cheese sauce. I wish I could tell you that the cake was good, but without a fork....I'm stuck in my car for 2 hours wondering. This was a major bummer. Too many good places in Fishers to put up with the service here. Go else...
Read moreHonestly, we've been wanting to ty this place for a while but didn't have a fantastic first experience. We happened to be on the north side but will try the Greenwood location next time. I liked the atmosphere when we walked in. The high ceiling was cool and unique for a restaurant. First disappointment was no kids menu or kids pricing. My 5 year old is a very small eater, didn't want a hot dog, and I didn't feel like spending $6+ for something else on the menu. The menu said they had green pepper soup, so I ordered that, but then was told it was a mistake and they actually had corn chowder. I did order the corn chowder, but it was very thin and not very nourishing. It was more like corn broth. I ordered a fruit cup for one of my children and the raspberry on top had a giant mold growing on it. The onion rings were pretty well crisped. Almost burnt. Other than that the food was good. Prices were decent. It started raining really hard so we stayed and ordered a full chocolate cake which was really moist. Our kids were a little wound up because they had to sit so long because of the downpour. There was a Portillo's staff person standing by the whole time and I felt like he was kinda judging our kids and waiting for us to leave. We tried to clean up our area as best we could so I'm sorry about that. Like I said, we may try one more time at the Greenwood location. We have some free dessert coupons we will...
