Duffy's Sports Grill — Restaurant in Florida

Unfortunately, not good.

We have been here many times before, and were very happy with the food and service. However, this time it was very disappointing. I believe Freddy was the name of our server. It took almost 10 minutes to order drinks, and almost another 10 to get them. And, we got our first apology from him. Nothing difficult, just wine and hard cider. By the time he came to take our order, it was another 15 minutes. And, our second apology. He came back and told us the order was in. And, our third apology. Ten minutes later, he told us he would bring our food out shortly. And, our fourth apology. My wife ordered another wine. Five minutes later, the girl didn't pour it yet. And, our fifth apology. The wine came. And, our sixth apology. Then, five minutes later our lunch came out. And, our seventh apology. At this point, my wife told him that three other tables that came in after us were eating already...he just walked away. Oh, we didn't have any napkins or silverware. My wife asked another girl for it. The manager came and talked to us, and my wife unloaded on her. However, even though we wouldn't take anything for free, there was no offer from her. My wife told her that the server ducked, and she responded that that wasn't nice, and he is one of her better servers. The chicken was meant to be grilled, but it tasted like it had a Mexican flavor. First and last time I will visit this establishment. First, during happy hour they offer 2 for 1 drinks. I ordered a perfect margarita that supposedly came with two shots of Patron. Well I quickly discovered why they are 2 for 1 because they load the glass with so much ice there is very little room anything else. Now onto my meal. I ordered the cheeseburger sliders and repeatedly told the waitress NO PICKLES NO PICKLES NO PiCKLES please! Well after a very long wait I received my sliders which of course had pickles on them. For those that know what I am talking about pickle juice will run all through the sandwich so there is no just removing them. The waitress apologized and said she put in the request and even thought she checked and didn’t see any pickles. She asked if I wanted to take them back. After already killing my two watered down margaritas I was not about to wait for a new plate. The waitress was very nice and said she would see what could be done. She returned and stated they would not charge me for the sliders. I also had a side of onion rings that were served cold. So my wife and I had to go to another local restaurant (Gatorbites) to get a real drink and a real meal. Will not ever go to this Duffy’s again. I'm not a huge fan of chain restaurants--but I have truly been surprised by Duffy's service and food quality. Since they first opened, the restaurant has quickly become a hot spot for dinner. During my second visit to Duffy's with my mother we had about an 8 minute wait for a table. Their staff was really efficient in turning over and cleaning the tables--which led to shorter wait times than what they estimated for us.

My mother and I didn't give in to the 2 for 1 drinks this time (although their mojitos are quite refreshing!). I opted for one of the Chef's Specials, the Jumbo Lump Crab Cakes, and my mother ordered the Duffy Burger with Blue Cheese and Truffle French Fries. I was SO happy when the crab cakes came it. The crab cakes are mostly crab, with very little "filler". The corn salsa and sauce they're paired with add a great crunch and sweetness to the crab cakes. I was thoroughly impressed with my dish--and my mother loved her burger!

I must say I was a little upset with myself after I tried one of my mother's truffle fries...now I know to opt for those instead of the regular or sweet potato fries. I kept trying to eat all of her glorious truffle fries!
