Under brand new ownership and this place has turned around 180 degrees for the better! If you haven't visited recently (since the new ownership), you're missing out. Please go back and try again. I promise you will not be disappointed.
They remodeled the inside and cleaned up the old/dirty decor. The place smells good, updated, and clean. The staff know your name and provide excellent service. Bring refills without being asked. Give you free edamame as an appetizer and occasionally sunomono.
The food is the best sushi in Folsom. The owner/Head sushi chef, Andy, is amazing. Johnny the other chef is equally as awesome, too! Their customer service is an example of people who really care about their customers. They go above and beyond to ensure that your food is fresh, tasty, and provide their own personal spin to make it look as good as it tastes.
I've had a ton of different orders from the menu and they are all equally as fresh and tasty. Andy also makes up a ton of new stuff and gives my brother and I samples to try. Andy really appreciates the customer's insight and strives to be the best.
I've been to Mikuni, Blue Nami, Kanpai, Aloha, etc. and you will not find better prices for freshness or taste. Tokyo Sushi is clearly the best sushi place in Folsom. Best service, best staff, best food, best choices, best flavor, best prices.
Again, if you haven't visited recently and met Andy, I urge you to come back and give this place another try. You won't be...
Read moreIMPORTANT: THIS IS UNDER NEW OWNERSHIP!!!!!!!! I've been coming to this place for easily 11 plus years. I thoroughly enjoyed eating here, BEST spicy tuna and snow crab mix ever. This wasn't just some paste you get. The spicy tuna was hand shaven off of tuna sashimi and mixed with fresh chopped green onions and spices. This is how things USED TO BE. Among many other great features to the old restaurant. AS OF NEW OWNERSHIP..... this place deserves 0 stars. Not good at all, unless you are into overly fishy smelling sushi past the expiration. They focus so much on presentation making the food look fancy here now but spend 0 time making the food good. Which is funny, the old ownership it was the opposite. Maybe not the most unique way to plate items but the food quality is amazing. These new owners have no sense of what it means to run a good quality establishment either. No family atmosphere that is welcoming or show that they even want your business. I give this place another year max before it gets closed down. P.s. maybe the workers are colorblind but avocados are meant to be green, not brown. Garbage, pure garbage. Save your money. You want a good all you can eat sushi place? Take the extra time to head out to Roseville and go to Raku sushi. Now that's quality all you can eat sushi, or just...
Read moreI did a to-go order and ordered a galleria roll, spicy cali roll, ika nigiri, and chef's sashimi platter 12 pc (Sashimi B).
The fish itself was very fresh and the rice was the right moisture and texture. However, the sashimi B set with 12 pieces of sashimi only had 3 different varieties of fish but I kind of expected more. However, fish was very good.
The ika nigiri was cut in a very elegant and fancy pattern! Loved it!
The salad with the dressing was also very fresh and the dressing was delicious. Rolls were okay.
The only thing I didn't like was that the pickled ginger that I received in the to-go container was spoiled and it ruined the taste/smell of the fish. Perhaps the container of ginger was left out too long (I picked it up about 20 minutes after I called it in, and it took me 15 minutes to get home. Their service was very fast).
I called near the end of the night so that may have contributed. I even received a phone call to pick it up as a reminder, so A+ for service.
Picking it up was also a breeze as I walked in, someone came to the entryway within 30 seconds, I told them my name and paid. I'm just sad...
