BEWARE ALLERGINS NOT taken seriously !!!! First and last time at this establishment. Highly disappointing. Customer service is horrible should have read the reviews before coming in. I placed an order for a blackberry shake not noticing that it had chocolate in it. Reading the chalkboard menu it was on a different line so it was unnoticed. My husband happens to be allergic to chocolate. It's not so much I'm upset about the chocolate in the shake Its just the way the so called Customer Service was handled. Half the shake was drank before he noticed there was chocolate in it that is true, and ? Should not matter. The young girl stated that I would have to repay then another girl said no you don't have to. I asked for the manager and clearly it made sense where there customer service comes from, I can't really blame the two young girls it's not their fault the person who is supposed to set an example, manager/owner is a joke. After explaining to the manager she had a puzzled look on her face and did not even want to remake it. Mind you it's a little $7.95 shake but it's just the principal. Then she proceeded to go to the back in the kitchen not knowing we were looking at her discussing the matter at hand with the rest of the staff through the little window on the door. Way unprofessional and out of line . If you had anything to discuss you should've brought it to my attention. The customer is always right you always take care of your customers and they come back but that type of behavior you just lose business. There's a place down the street from there called Moonberry they serve ice cream, coffees and teas and their customer...
Read moreI don't always go out of my way to eat ice cream, but I have had enough to know this place is the real deal. This is by far the best ice cream I have ever had; it is a double-edged sword because while it has set the standard for me and was amazing, I do not live close to this place and it will probably ruin most if not all other ice cream places I have from here on out. I was in Fort Bragg for 2 days and had this place both days.
The first day I had three scoops: vanilla, peanut butter, and yellow cake. The vanilla was great, but in comparison I would recommend either peanut butter or yellow cake as they are bursting with so much more flavor. While experiences might vary, the peanut butter batch that I had was so rich. I often have peanut butter confections that contain a conservative amount that lingers in the background when you eat it, but with this the flavor rushed out to greet me with every bite. The yellow cake had a ton of flavor as well, so if you are a fan of birthday cake ice cream I would recommend that one.
The second day, I had a 2-scoop hot fudge sundae with both scoops being cookies & cream. It was really good, but the flavor of the cookies & cream got a little lost with the whipped cream and hot fudge. Because of this, I would recommend vanilla or chocolate for the sundae and get the flavored ice cream as a scoop so you can fully appreciate it.
Also, be aware there are two different booths of ice cream on both sides of the cash register. I didn't even notice the other booth the first time, and only saw it the second time because one of the workers was...
Read moreYesterday evening, after dinner overlooking the Noyo River, we stopped at Cowlick’s Ice Cream on Main Street. I usually pass it by because of the long lines, but this time it didn’t look too crowded. By the time we parked and walked over, though, the line was already stretching out the door, and it stayed that way until we got our ice cream.
I ordered a scoop of Cookies and Cream in a cup, while my girlfriend chose the Rocky Road. The Cookies and Cream was tasty and just what I was looking for. The Rocky Road, however, leaned more on the sweet side and wasn’t as chocolatey as expected. My girlfriend ended up not finishing hers, but I tried it and found it good enough to enjoy, so I helped her with it.
The only downside to the visit was the staff. The young team working behind the counter looked like they were ready for the day to be over. Service wasn’t rude, but there wasn’t much enthusiasm either—just the sense they were grinding through a long shift.
Cowlick’s is clearly popular with both locals and visitors, and the steady line out the door proves it. If you plan to stop, be ready for a wait. The ice cream itself is solid and worth trying at least once when...
