We had a reservation. Walked in. Greeted by Amanda. Immediately, we felt unwelcome. It was as if we were interrupting her day. She seemed put out that customers would actually come and bother her.

We told her we had a reservation, she took us to our table in the covered, outdoor patio. It was nice.

We asked what she would recommend. She said she wasn’t into seafood, so couldn’t recommend anything. She left and the server’s helper, Joaquin came by with the bread and water. We asked what he’d recommend. He also said he wasn’t into seafood so he couldn’t recommend anything. Set aside the fact they worked in a seafood restaurant and weren’t into seafood because not everyone has to like everything, it’s curious they didn’t suggest what other customers had found to be good.

We ordered the clam and mussel chowder and the seared sea scallops. There were only few tables—my 6 or 7. The orders took what we thought was a long time. Both of us had worked in restaurants before.

At no time during the meal did either come by to see how we liked the food—not to offer a refill on our water. By the way, the scallops were a little salty for my taste, but that could be me. The chowder was good.

We know the server could be pleasant because she was quite pleasant with the people at the other two tables on the patio. Then again, we didn’t quite fit the “demographic” of Fort Bragg’s population. Who knows why the service was so poor , or why we were made to feel unwelcome, but I definitely would not go back, nor could I recommend it.

We had gone to another restaurant the night before and the experience was 180 from at KW. The service and deeps were fantastic. They had a...

I would give 0 stars if possible. WE GOT FOOD POISONING. First thing that happened when we walked in is the waitresses poking fun at my partner for looking “too young” to be there. We got seated and ordered.. the waitress was either new or just not a good server, very sub par service. We got our oyster plate that the server suggested, as well as garlic baked oysters. I love oysters, but I ate one of the oysters with the tomato sauce, and it was awful. So I tried the garlic one and that’s basically all it was. A heaping spoonful of garlic in an oyster shell. I immediately ran to the bathroom and threw up, but thought it must just be a fluke and waited for my main dish. Although hesitant, we tried the scallops and they were delicious. My partner felt fine and I assumed the vomiting incident was just my stomach rejecting the oysters. Fast forward to about 10 pm and my partner is violently ill in the restroom. It didn’t stop for hours. I called the owner the following day to hopefully get some kind of refund, partial refund, or even an apology for making us sick. Instead I was greeted with an immediate rude attitude. She told me there’s no way of knowing it was her food and there is absolutely nothing she could do. She said I could take a food poisoning test to prove it was her food. I was very kind when explaining the situation so I was a little taken aback by the response. I explained to her that we had eaten nothing else that day, as we drove 6 hours for our Fort Bragg trip and we’re waiting for the fresh seafood. So, my suggestion is DO NOT EAT HERE, or you may end up sick and $150 poorer,...

This restaurant needs some help. The indoor area is cute with decent seating. They have a little bar (maybe 4 seats) where you can order beer, wine and port. You can also sit outside but it is far from romantic. The patio is covered all around, which is great for keeping the heat inside during the cold Mendocino evenings. The view from the patio is of a mechanic's garage, parking and a busy street. This is forgivable if all else was great.

The food was phenomenal. Absolutely the best food we had on our entire trip. We had a mix of a dozen oysters. They were shucked well. There were many fish options and some land animal options too. My husband had the filet mignon and he said it was ridiculously delicious. I had the black cod and it was beyond amazing. Perfectly cooked, great accompaniments, delicious. I could eat it every night.

The service and the timeliness was extremely problematic. It took about 40 minutes to get the mix of oysters. We wondered if they were out catching them since it took so long. When they arrived, we were never told which types were being served. We ordered our entrees when our drinks came (long before the oysters arrived) and they took more than an hour AFTER our oysters arrived. Our server never gave us updates on the status of our meals until we asked and he seemed like he was completely disinterested in serving any of this tables. He seemed to be walking in slow motion.

Even though the food was world class, we will...

First, I’m not one to leave reviews often. It really has to be worth it. Kw Saltwater Grill is definitely worth it. After reading reviews, I went in with high expectations, and I’m not a huge seafood fan, so they already had both those working against them. Haha. Boy did they impress! Holy Toledo! The food was upscale, plated beautifully, and absolutely delicious. I savored every bite until the very end. We had the ricotta salad, fish ceviche, seared ahi, northern halibut, and the Lemon crème brûlé. All were excellent. But there is a secret treasure beyond even all this…. Gluten free friends… YOU MUST GO HERE even if it’s just to try the GF dinner roll!! This delightful dinner roll was brought to me still steaming from the oven and filling the air with the heart warming scent of fresh bread. Those of you who are gluten free know that the delicate, delectable, fluffy dinner roll that we all love and miss is something you can no longer eat, UNTIL NOW!! I think I literally melted into the chair as I opened this baked to perfection roll. Crisp outside, with the melt in your mouth tender bread center. This is my first experience feeling like I ate “bread” again and it was AMAZING!! I have nothing but great things to say about this restaurant after eating there tonight, I only hope that they find a location in the near future that matches and reflects the quality of their food. They don’t belong on the railroad tracks.

Every thing about our experience was FANTASTIC. We showed up about three minutes to closing time hoping they would seat us but definitely not expecting them to. To our surprise they graciously sat us and the experience was even better from that point. The service was phenomenal and the food was top notch. I ordered a beer and when the waiter came back he had brought me about 3/4 filled glass with what I ordered apologizing that they had run out, but also brought a full glass of another selection for us to share. We shared the special for the night which was a heirloom tomato salad with a balsamic reduction dressing and then moved on to the swordfish served over mashed potatoes topped a wonderfully complimentary sauce and asparagus. Both items were delicious and expertly prepared. We finished off with the lemon tart and a cup of decaf which came to us in our own French press and both did not disappoint. This was our first time here but we will definitely be coming back.
