I usually find the good points to focus on but this morning’s experience in the drive-thru at our local McDonald's was unforgivable. Conversation at the order area starts with did you order with the app? I was what? Don't they have drive-up areas for that? She was rude again and said you want the app? NO I don't. Tried to order an apple fritter for a coworker and was told they were no longer available. But there were pictures and pricing on their menu. And I had ordered 2 weeks ago. Hummm.
I have been treating myself to Pancakes on Sundays when the Catholic Church does not have their Sunday breakfast. I don't go to McDonald's often I admit. But with an item like pancakes -- syrup and butter should accompany the purchase. If you are not putting them in maybe the question should be asked 'Would you like . . . ' Nothing was said and when I opened the breakfast in Mendocino 15 miles down the road at work I had no syrup or butter. Pretty much worthless to me at this point. Here I am in Mendocino with delicious looking pancakes and nothing to top them with.
I called a little bit later - I was just going to chuck them but ended up calling as I am not rich and this was supposed to be a treat. Asked to talk to a manager. I believe that this was the same clerk. Said she could help me. Told her the story and she flippantly said we have a sign saying if you need any condiments. I said that I would be returning them after work but I didn't get a receipt. She said that no one is given a receipt unless they ask for one. -- But wait don't they have a survey on the receipt and possibly a coupon for a breakfast sandwich? Why would a person have to ask for a receipt?
As this is not my first time with pancakes -- when they first started asking for people to request condiments this happened one other time. But the then manager was more gracious and understanding. She agreed that pancakes should always have syrup and butter. Everytime after the first time I have received butter and syrup. When I ask for it I am told they come with the item. This morning because the ordering agent was rude and flippant with her responses and the early drive-thru hour. I forgot to request the items. But honestly getting pancakes with no butter or syrup it would be like serving a burger without a bun.
I have had good experiences in the past at McDonald's this review is more about the agent taking the order. I don't know what the pancakes...
Read moreI recently had the chance to swing by the McDonald's at Fort Bragg, and I must say, their burger was a delightful surprise.
The Burger: Taste: The burger here was a cut above the typical fast food fare. It was juicy, with a flavor that seemed to hint at being freshly grilled rather than just another item off the assembly line. The combination of the patty with the cheese, lettuce, and pickles was just right, making each bite enjoyable. Quality: For a McDonald's on a military base, the quality was impressive. The meat had a good texture, and the vegetables were fresh, adding a nice crunch. The bun was soft yet sturdy, which is key for a good burger experience. Customization: Even on a busy base, my customizations were handled with care. Asking for extra pickles or no onions was done without fuss, which shows a level of attentiveness to customer preferences.
Service Experience: Speed: Despite the typical hustle of a base location, the service was prompt. This efficiency is crucial for those in uniform or anyone with a tight schedule, making it a practical choice for lunch or a quick meal. Staff: The staff were friendly and seemed to take pride in their work, adding to the overall positive experience. There's something about the camaraderie on base that makes even the simplest interactions more pleasant.
Ambiance: The McDonald's at Fort Bragg, while utilitarian, was clean and well-maintained, providing a comfortable place to enjoy your meal. The familiar red and yellow decor felt welcoming in this context, offering a slice of normalcy and comfort.
Value for Money: Given the context of being on a military base, the value here was excellent. A quality burger at a reasonable price, especially when you factor in the convenience and speed of service, makes it a go-to spot for many stationed here.
Overall Impression: My experience at Fort Bragg's McDonald's has really changed my view on what fast food can offer, particularly in such environments. It's not just about getting food fast; it's about enjoying a decent meal in a place that understands the needs of its community. If you're at Fort Bragg and craving a burger, this McDonald's won't disappoint. It's a testament to how even in the most unexpected places, you can...
Read moreFood is as good as you could expect for a McDonalds. Service is good, but I usually order food using the app and get it for pick up at the counter, so my interaction with the staff is minimal. I highly recommend everyone use the app to order. It makes ordering a breeze, items in the order can be customized easily and if ordering it ahead of time for pick up at the counter, they don't start to make it until you get there (based on your device's location) and it's ready quick. It's pretty satisfying when you can drive up, walk in past the frustrated people that ordered inside and are still waiting for their food, grab your order from the counter and walk right back out. No wait, no interaction with anyone, and the order is warm and (usually) exactly as ordered. They closed recently for a day to "update their system" and when I went a few days later, I tried going through the drive-thru. To my surprise, they have started using the first window again and the whole experience went quickly and smoothly. I noticed though, they removed the handy trash can for vehicles at the end of the drive thru. As convenient as it was for drivers to toss their trash without having to get out, most of the time it was full and overflowing making a mess in the parking lot. So it's probably for the better that they removed it. I included a photo of the hours posted on the front door. Not sure if these are new hours but they...
