Saying we’ve had a horrible experience is an understatement. We decided to lunch here before going back across the border about a month ago. Waitress does not explain how the menu works and assumes we know their rules. I think this is how our whole issue even started. OR I’m disappointed to say maybe we were profiled? We were a minority group (5 adults, 2 infants, 2 toddlers)
When we got seated, the waitress took our drink orders. We all asked for water. When it came to the toddlers she immediately said “they get drinks anyway” what? implying kids get free drinks? So we got apple juice and milk. Right away just because we all got water she was already a bit snarky towards us…
We got one kids meal for the 3 yr told and 4 lunch specials. When my SIL said her toddler wasn’t getting kids meal, the waitress had a snarky tone but didn’t explain anything about the milk she had ordered is no longer “free” or that the drink is “free” with a kids meal. My husband and I decided to share a meal as he wasn’t too hungry and my toddler wasn’t going to finish her meal on her own. The 3 other adults ordered their own meals.
I feel that because my husband and I shared meal and the 18 month old didn’t order a kids meal, we were made to feel less of a customer for doing so.
Throughout our dining experience we were made to feel less important because we decided to share. By this I mean, walking pass us rather than asking for how we’re doing, we’ve had to get her attention to request for for things and she responded with eye rolls and snarky comments continued throughout the experience.
When the lunch special came out, it was in a very SMALL bowl (a side bowl). I asked if this was the correct portion. The waitress was very DEGRADING and said “you pay for cheap meal that’s what you get. You pay less you get less”. Really? All she had to say was “yes, that is the correct portion.” Her extra attitude was not needed.
The waitress was not attentive, or she was purposely avoiding our table. One of our party finally had to ask for soup refill (given the amount of chances the waitress could’ve asked as our table since we were seated by the kitchen, she walked by us a lot), she then asked the other 2 adults in our group for refill. She walked by my husband and I and said nothing. At this point and after a few actions she’s already done to make us feel uncomfortable, I asked if there was any problem with us because she didn’t ask us for any refill. She then said “we’ll you’re sharing and you’re not allowed to do that”. I advised her she did not make that clear, it wasn’t a secret we were sharing, she was there when we ordered the meal and I said out loud while she was taking out order my husband is having some. My husband was not too hungry. We were clear that we’re just sharing a meal and we chose the dish together.
She had an argumentative tone that’s the policy and no apologies that she failed to explain the “policy” or suggest the regular menu if we were sharing so at least we would get a fuller plate. We did not push further, at this point it is what it is and did not want to disrupt other people that was dining near us and we had lost our appetites anyway.
A few minutes later and to our surprise the manager came to us. She had called the manager on us gas lighting the situation. The manager came already having sided with the server so we did not bother him with full details and her actions towards us. We all remained calm and just advised the manager “it’s okay, don’t worry about it.” Clearly it was already a lost battle.
Come the bill, we were charged the milk. At this point we did not even say anything, we just wanted to get out of there. The policy on lunch menu was not explained nor the “kids get drinks anyway”. We just wanted to pay the FOOD bill get out of there as fast as possible.
My food rating is low, maybe the food was good but we barely ate the little food we ordered and did not even have...
Read moreI would have gave it a zero rating but I can't on here. My wife and I were there last weekend after being hungry from the beach. When we got there we were greeted just fine, but when we sat our waitress came over and was quite rude to us. We couldn't decide on what we wanted because we actually haven't ate at Olive Garden in years because the food is not the best, but we decided to try it out. When we finally figured it out we asked our waitress when she recommends and she just said "anything really just order your food". I was like OooKkkk... Then she asked what my wife wanted a soup or salad and then my wife said salad and she just left quickly. She came back with a huge bowl of salad that was wilted and she put cheese on it without asking us and left. I thought they are suppose to ask you how much. I actually wanted a side soup but was never given the option. Finally after 25 mins of waiting for our food it was all very old and you can tell because my wife's chicken parm was completely dry with a peice of square cheese melted on top with little sauce. Her lasagna didn't look it, it look like chili in a bowl. We waited another 15 mins till we saw the waitress again and asked her for some fresher food and she said that it was fresh that we need not worry and enjoy our food. 10 mins later a different waitress came and started to take plates off our table for no reason and asked if we needed anything. I said a refill on my empty drink would be nice since I had snacked on all the ice I had waiting for her to come refill our drinks. She was told that my wife didn't feel comfortable eating a bowl of lasagna chili and dry parm so she took it and came back in 2 mins with totally fresh food with an apology. That was nice seeing that the original waitress could have done that. So we just asked to pack up the food. The funny thing was right before we left the original waitress came back and gave us our check. She then had a great attitude and asked if we came from the beach since my wife had a towel wrapped around her hip because she was cold, then proceeded to interrupt my wife and talk over us so we would leave quicker. I don't know if it was because we were people of color at the restaurant seeing that we were the only ones there or if it's cuz it was close to closing time and they just didn't care but it was the worst experience my wife and I had in a long time.
We are frequent restaurant goes, but with the exception of steak and shake late night, this place is the worst that we had. We still left a tip because we no how it is to be a waiter and left a small note saying thankyou for your service, this tip is not because your service with was terrible, it is because you work for tips and you may need it.
Olive Garden, well this one is not good. Recommend that...
Read moreLet me start by saying that I had fond memories of this restaurant from when I was a kid when we had one in my own city. When I saw the ads on TV for them offering a combo special with dinner for two including appetizer, and dinner we figured we’d stop in on our next visit to the US when I had to deposit some money. When we first arrived, we were definitely concerned that there was going to be a bit of a wait however that was not the case. There was a small wait for tables of more than two, but it was not significant in any way. After being seated we were promptly offered a small sample of wine of which was a red wine that I don’t normally drink. I wasn’t particularly fond of it myself, but my partner enjoyed it. Service was relatively quick and it took a while for us to decide however she opted for the fettuccine and I went the Tuscan Chicken. From here on out it went downhill though as the first mistake was that our salad had no croutons. This was because the server gave ours to a table that had requested none. Since they and we had already started eating it was too late to take it back. The server then said that she would bring us some croutons, and never did. However, it got even worse after that when the food arrived. As soon as my dish arrived something did not look right about the chicken. I started to cut into a piece that had already been chopped up only to see that the inside of it was still pink. I waited for the server to come by, and immediately sent the entire dish back as who knows how that may have contaminated the dish (even if all the other pieces were cooked). Luckily the manager happened to be walking by at the exact same moment so she was also able to observe the uncooked chicken. At the time they tried to compensate by offering me a bowl of soup or something else, however I had wanted to try the dish so waited for a new one to be prepared. Needless to say, it is disappointing having to watch somebody else eat while you sit there. I will say however though, that they did a great job of making sure that I was compensating me by discounting the bill by the price of my meal. Unfortunately despite that, we left with a bit of a sour taste as the meals that we did get were lack luster at best. At this point in time, I’m not sure that we’ll make the effort to give this one another shot, even though we like to gives places a second chance. It could just be the location, as they were quite busy on the day we went but that shouldn’t change the taste of the dishes. They have many other things on the menu that we would like to have tried, but if we were paying full price for any of the dishes I would say that it is not really worth it. Dish sizes are good, but quality...
