Mykonos has certainly gone downhill since it first opened - on many different levels. This was my third visit and things have drastically changed for the worse.
First issue, that I used to ignore when Mykonos first opened was the effort in getting there due to the lack of parking. Unless you want to valet your car with a nearby bar for $15, it’s a two block walk from the nearest parking garage to the Resturant
Next, when we arrived after walking the two blocks in 80 degree muggy summer evening weather, the hostess, who looked to be a high school student, asked us to wait outside in the heat for the staff to get our (previously reserved) table “ready.”
Once inside, it was immediately apparent that they were trying to save money on the air conditioning bill. At best, the inside was just cooler than the outside. They did lower the temp, but I had to ask two different people to get this done. One of whom was our waiter who was obviously sweating as well.
The decor has aged and management is not taking care of it. Our white Formica topped table was stained with what looked like several burn marks. You could live with this perhaps in a deli, but when three shared appetizers, one alcoholic drink, and a dessert cost $177 (with the automatically included 18% tip), you’d kind of expect the management to keep the tabletops looking cleaner. Perhaps invest in white tablecloth coverings ?
There should be a dress code for this place given the attempt to make this a “euro” experience. All around were adult men wearing baseball caps (some backwards) and shorts. When it first opened, the dress was certainly more elegant.
The food used to be great, but not so much anymore. I ordered my favorite, spiced beef and hummus. On this visit ,the beef was gristly and a bit overcooked. The peach salad was good, as usual, but the Branzino fish was a bit oily.
Last, the inside music was played loud enough so that all of the Resturant guests had to raise their voices to speak to each other leading to a cacophony of sound that made it hard to have a conversation. When I left, my ears were ringing.
The good news, all of the above can be remedied. Until it is, I won’t be...
Read moreMykonos Restaurant in Fort Lauderdale offers a delightful Mediterranean escape right along the Riverwalk, making it a perfect spot for a meal with a view. The ambiance is charming, with a lovely Mediterranean vibe that enhances the dining experience. The setting by the water adds to the overall appeal, creating a relaxing atmosphere that is ideal for both casual outings and special occasions.
From the moment we arrived, the host and waitstaff were exceptionally friendly and accommodating, making us feel welcome. The service was attentive without being intrusive, which contributed to a pleasant dining experience.
The menu, while limited, features a selection of dishes that reflect Mediterranean flavors.
However, the food was good but not particularly memorable. The portions leaned towards the smaller side, resembling tapas or appetizers, which could be a fun way to sample multiple dishes if you’re dining in a group. We sampled the seabass, which was well-prepared, and enjoyed the chicken skewers, which were a highlight of the meal. The tuna tartare, unfortunately, was a bit dry, which was disappointing. The hummus and the beet salad were delicious, though, and paired well with the rest of our meal. I had the smoked pineapple drink the presentation was very nice.
However, we were surprised that we were never offered a dessert menu, which left us feeling like we missed out on a sweet ending to our meal.
While the prices are on the higher side, the overall experience, including the lovely atmosphere and attentive service, somewhat justifies it. For three people, the food portions were just right, allowing us to enjoy the flavors without feeling overly stuffed.
Overall, Mykonos Restaurant is a charming destination for those looking to enjoy a Mediterranean meal by the water. While the food may not leave a lasting impression, the ambiance and service...
Read moreLet me get started by saying they don’t even have bread.
I was really craving middle Eastern food so I looked up Mediterranean cuisine and Mykonos popped up boy was I so happy being that I love this kind of food. I ordered the Branzino fish, but it came so burnt I was upset at how it was sprinkled with big chucks of salt only, there was no flavor what so ever I later asked for black pepper and chimichuri sauce to help me out. Unfortunately I had to ask for bread as well to help me out a bit but they told me they only had chips. How is this place called Mykonos but they don’t even have white basmati rice, they are serving Spanish yellow/red rice which is so nasty and sticky that’s so sad since it had so many calories. If I wanted Spanish food I would have went to a Spanish restaurant. The sex on the beach was amazing the boys at the bar act like they are not really taking orders but they were somewhat helpful. I will never go back there again i asked my boyfriend to come with me but he told me how he came here before and it was bad. I believe him this is a disgrace to Mykonos and my experience was horrible. I will never go back. Overall the Haitian guy who brought me the food almost put his hands inside while pointing at the sauce under seems they need to learn etiquette when serving civilians. Not...
