My family and I have been coming to this area for the week of July 4th for over 40 years and there have been different openings of little restaurants over the years that have come and gone but this one is the BEST restaurant that has ever been in this area....and it may very well be in the top 3 restaurants in Fort Lauderdale that we have tried. I hope this place stays for a very long time.
The dining experience was absolutely second to none, and I have reviewed HUNDREDS of restaurants on Google. I work all over the United States and outlying territories, and this is in my top two restaurants for a variety of reasons. Although it is sitting on the beach, it is not your regular beachside restaurant. There were 12 of us, and we all tried a couple of different appetizers as well as menu items. Not one of us had anything that was even close to mediocre. The drinks were far above average. Margaritas were frozen and on the rocks and extremely exceeded our expectations. The specialty drink I ordered was a "gin garden," and I have never had it anywhere else, but it was a MUST HAVE.
The churrasco skirt steak was phenomenal and rivals any T-Bone or Ribeye you will ever have anywhere. The seasoning was perfect and cooked to order flawlessly.
The pork shank was superbly cooked as well as the pork belly appetizer. I also had the steamed mussels in tomato sauce with garlic bread. Oh, MY! The flavors are all there. Garlic bread was even perfectly toasted to dip in the tomato sauce.
We had the smoked tuna appetizer, as well, and it was as good as any ... and I have had some bad ass smoked tuna. I believe the first words that came out of my mouth were, "There is a chef in the kitchen because there isn't someone back there they hired off the street with these menu items." The chef is from Cuba, and his culinary skills are absolutely phenomenal!
My wife had the red fish, and it was served in the traditional style with the head on it, and it covered the plate. I am not a big red fish fan, myself, but I tried it, and I would actually order it without question.
My sister-in-law ordered the surf and turf burger. It is a perfectly cooked hamburger with shrimp and cheese sauce on top, and it was stellar.
Their black beans are out of this world. You can tell they put special love into these beans. Made from dried beans from scratch and not beans out of a can. I need to get this recipe because I love black beans and theirs is perfectly cooked and seasoned. I'm a fan.
Yes... we always try everyone else's food... that's just how we do. We had cheesecake and flan for dessert. The cheesecake was perfect, and the Flan was the best I have tried from California to Puerto Rico and everywhere in between. Without a doubt, I'd get the Flan every time.
Like I said, it is right up there with the best you can find....been coming to the area for 45 years or so and we have tried ALL of the big names....this one is in walking distance from our condo and it is our new fine dining experience from now on. It is also worth noting that all their dishes and drinks are made in-house with all fresh ingredients....nothing from a can.
Last but not least... our server (Claudia - from Venezuela) was top tier. She made the best recommendations and took care of each and every one of us individually as if we were her family. Her attitude was perfectly cheerful, and you could tell she really enjoyed her job, and she was excited to describe every drink and menu item while throwing out different options for the preparation of each item in the dish. She is a very special addition to this restaurant and I don't think the experience would be the same without her! Just the best.
Unbelievable! It's just unbelievable. Will definitely go back. I would give 10 stars if I could. Perfection is hard to find, but this place has it. It is worth mentioning that this isn't a cheap diner, and the bill reflects that, but I don't mind paying for such a perfect dining experience. The food is definitely a correlation to price....
Read moreThey space is a beautiful renovation and I hope that as they move forward it continues to get better. It is loud inside especially when no one is in there. It wasn't off putting but did make conversation with my elderly father challenging.
The server was very kind, but I think service was on the slower side. It just felt like because it was so dead in there that everything was just moving slow. I was a little surprised to not see any wine on the menu, but they did have a chardonnay by the glass. We weren't asked if we wanted another round during our meal. I'm sure they could have convinced my Dad into another one.
The food was okay. I ordered the burger and my Dad ordered the Fish Sandwich. The portion size was great. My dad enjoyed his fish and thought the fries were tasty. I ordered my burger medium rare with american cheese. It came rare with provolone. I don't mind a rare burger and ate what I wanted. From a taste perspective I thought it was a great burger. I just wished it had been medium rare. I asked my server if he had entered my burger as rare or medium rare. He said medium rare and I showed him how rare it was. I've worked in restaurants and just wanted to let them know. I was surprised when the server came back and said it was taken off the bill - I had not anticipated that/nor asked for it but it was a nice surprise.
They are incredibly kind, and I would give them another chance. I hope they do well and that as the new restaurant jitters go away they start to streamline everything because I think there is a lot of...
Read moreLunch was amazing. As we walk the strip Claudia process to do her amazing job but persuade us to come eat with her a when I tell you the food was amazing. The Service was evening better decided to start our weekend right by stopping at Ozzieâs on the Strip â and WOW. First off, the service was amazing and welcoming. The staff made sure everything came out fresh and on point.
I ordered the whole fried snapper and it was seasoned to perfection crispy on the outside, juicy and flaky inside. The grilled veggies and mashed potatoes not our favorite. We also tried the lettuce wraps with seared tuna, drizzled in a spicy mayo and topped with shredded carrots and black sesame seeds fresh and flavorful with every bite.
Everything paired perfectly with a chilled bottle of Acqua Panna. The vibe, the flavors, and the view made it a 10/10 experience. Highly recommend if youâre in the area and want great seafood with a laid-back, tropical feel. Ask for Claudia!
