During a recent visit to Fort Lauderdale, I had the pleasure of dining at Tacocraft Taqueria & Tequila Bar, a vibrant spot known for its tacos and tequila-focused menu. I was so impressed by the experience that I visited twice—once for takeout and again for a dine-in meal. Both visits were equally enjoyable, capturing exactly the kind of atmosphere and flavors I was hoping for.
For my takeout order, I chose the taco platter, which allows guests to select three tacos from a diverse list of fifteen options. I opted for the Pork Al Pastor, Carne Asada, and Local Grilled Fish tacos. The standout was undoubtedly the Pork Al Pastor—expertly seasoned, tender, and full of flavor. The Carne Asada was less impressive, as it was somewhat dry and lacked depth of flavor. The Grilled Fish taco had good seasoning but also leaned on the dry side. I paired the tacos with a classic margarita to-go, which, while strong, had a slightly bitter finish and wasn’t quite to my taste.
Eager to try more, I returned the next day with my daughter for a dine-in experience. We started with the classic guacamole, which was fresh, well-balanced, and a great beginning to the meal. For drinks, I chose the passion fruit margarita. Despite a previous recommendation from a staff member cautioning against it for those sensitive to spice, I found it pleasantly smooth and flavorful without any noticeable heat—definitely a drink I would order again.
For the main course, I ordered the Pork Al Pastor again, along with the Baja Fish Taco. Both were excellent—well-prepared, satisfying, and reflective of the bold, fresh flavors Tacocraft aims to deliver. The tacos were generously filled and left me more than satisfied.
The ambiance of the restaurant added to the overall experience. It was lively, bustling, and clearly popular, with a full dining room and energetic atmosphere. The customer service was attentive and efficient, and the restaurant’s extended happy hour is a great bonus for those looking to enjoy food and drinks later in the evening.
Overall Rating: 9/10. Tacocraft Taqueria & Tequila Bar is a must-visit for anyone in the Fort Lauderdale area seeking quality tacos, creative cocktails, and a lively dining environment. I look forward to returning and exploring more of their...
Read moreI first visited the new Taco Craft on Tuesday 12/1. I was very interested about the new place and if it would have the same taste and feel as the one on Himarshee, which we all know had a mal-odorous smell emanating from the street gutter. I can't sit here and complain about the taste of the tacos this past Tuesday, but the tacos came out ice cold... No worries, management was on course and quickly sent out hot, good tasting tacos... So, I really appreciated this.. But, today I decided to give it another try and went for lunch with my 9 lbs chihuahua Big Boi, who by the way is an emotional support dog. I decided to sit at the bar which is more comfortable and appeasing than sitting outside on a long couch or table, when I was rudely asked by the manager that my EMOTIONAL SUPPORT DOG was not allowed inside, but if I wanted to I could sit outside, which I politely declined and decided to leave. My thinking behind my rationale was to really think about the clientele that TACCO CRAFT was catering to across Flagler Village? Do they realize that the majority of people have dogs, and that some of them are for emotional support, so to turn away a customer who didn't have the best experience to begin with and ask him to sit outside when giving the establishment a second chance, is utterly ridiculous!! Your place smelled of filth at your old location and now you want to act like Mortons Steakhouse? LOL! Your fajitas only sizzle for so long my friends, oh! wait they never sizzled to begin with, so start acting like a fun joint or else, you'll end up like your neighbor across the street Brass Tap?? No explanation needed, go Henry's Sandwich Shop! they allow dogs, so stay away from TACO CRAFT if you love your dog! Unhappy...
Read moreJasmine at the host stand—sweet, welcoming, and the only reason I didn’t leave (seriously, promote her). But let’s get to the real stars of the show: my waitress Katiana and manager Richard, who both deserve a standing ovation… for making my dining experience unforgettably bad.
Katiana, blink twice if you’re being forced to work here against your will, because the energy you served was colder than my untouched food. My order was wrong, my drink tasted like it was poured into a plastic cup from a frat party, and she ignored our table like we were invisible. No check-ins, no “How’s everything?”—just vibes. The only time she acknowledged us was to collect a check… from the table next to us. Even the people in front of us said they never got their food.
Now, normally, this is where a good manager would step in. Enter Richard. We calmly explained the situation, thinking, Surely, management will care about the customer experience. But Richard hit us with a legendary response:
“What do you want me to do about it?”
Sir. I don’t know, maybe… manage? Solve the problem? Offer a solution? Is this the new hospitality standard for taco cantinas? Because last I checked, I’m not on the payroll—I shouldn’t have to figure out how to fix your restaurant’s customer service issues.
Long story short: Jasmine, you’re a star. Richard and Katiana, whew. Management, do better.
Would I come back? Maybe. But next time, I’ll be sitting in Jasmine’s section and bringing my own To-Go box, just in case.
