Update: to respond to the owner- this wasn't just coldness of your employees. It was hostility, rudeness, and mockery for no reason whatsoever that made us feel unsafe. We have literally never felt this way before anywhere in the world.
Original Review: Here is my review of Press and Grind. I feel the need to post this after reading the owner's response to my wife's review. If you are considering coming here, I encourage you to read the one star reviews and the owner response to them all. He/she will never acknowledge that their baristas could ever do anything wrong, and instead blames, belittles, and lies about those customers. Their unhinged responses will be a clear signal to anyone looking for a well run coffee shop. The following is my experience at the shop. When my wife and I arrived, my wife greeted the batista and the barista said nothing in return. I asked her how her day was going and got a very short and uninterested response. Not a big deal in itself. My wife asks for the caffeine content of one of the refreshers for health reasons. The barista, without a word, goes to check to see if she can find out. The other girl working there gave my wife a dirty look, and went to say something we couldn't make out to the barista. The barista returns and let us know it wasn't listed, so my wife decides to pass on it and see if she can find it later (which she was able to find shortly after which green tea Press and Grind uses and on that manufacturer's site found the caffeine content). I ordered the caramel latte with oatmilk. After my wife found the caffeine content (which the owner response said wasnt possible for some reason but I can verify she found the brand used and found the caffeine content on the manufacturer website), she ordered the drink and let the barista know she found the caffeine content and let her know what it was so she could answer the question in the future. After she ordered, she heard them talking about her and mocking her. Our drinks were delivered without a word. We thanked her and went to drink our drinks. My latte was good, one of the better we've tried in the area. My wife's refresher, she tasted and thought it tasted off and asked me to taste it. I also thought it was disgusting and so she, being concerned they may have put something in it, tried to throw it out. She tossed it about 1-2 feet away from the can (not across the room as the owner response said), but it hit the top and spilled. We immediately started cleaning it up but realized its going to take way too many napkins so we let the batista know we spilled and apologized and asked for a mop. The guy working there came and helped clean, and we thanked him. He was polite and kind. The barista, not knowing the reason it spilled, made another drink without us asking, and came and literally slammed it on the table without a word. At this point we were very uncomfortable, took the drink out, left the shop and threw it out. The owner claims to have video which shows nothing was put into the drink. Their website has no easily discernable way to contact them, so if the owner reads this please provide your email address so we can request a copy of the footage and verify for ourselves as well. My wife did send a message through their chat thing on their website with no response. A good owner would apologize for the rudeness of their staff and work on training them rather than attacking customers who share their less than pleasant experiences. The owner also keeps telling people with negative experiences they should go to the manager instead of posting online. We saw no manager there, and did not feel comfortable asking for one. We did attempt to contact the company via their website but there is no contact info except signing up for messages which we did use to submit the same review directly with no response, before posting here. To the owner: I advise you to apologize when people have bad experiences and work on fixing the issues instead of attacking your customers and denying their...
Read moreVery rude, hostile, unwelcoming, and unprofessional service from the servers to the owner. Please read my initial review and the response to the owners response below. I have traveled a lot in the US and around the world and been to hundreds of restaurants and coffee shops. I have never encountered anything like this before, neither from the workers but especially from a business owner! There are a lot of other great places in the area to go to that genuinely value and treat their customers with respect and decency
Update: Response to the owners response- I have no reason to make stuff up, or write false reviews. Most all of my Google reviews are 5 stars. The way I was treated from the very beginning was very rude, and unwelcoming. The way they were talking, mocking, and giggling behind my back made me feel as though they did do something with my drink based on what I overheard them say, and that was the very reason I felt uncomfortable and unsafe drinking it, and that why I discarded it (but I am glad that you did have video footage and that nothing was put in it). My husband was right there with me.. and yes I did go and try to research and check caffeine content online right away because it is for a health reason so I needed to know what it was before I ordered my drink. Based on the information I have found online I do have the brand of the tea you use and the approximate caffeine content of it. I was not rude or aggressive to the girls serving me! First I was sitting at the table by the trash can so it definitely was not thrown across the room as you have stated, second I and my husband were the first ones to start cleaning the mess right away which was not intentional at all and then I asked for a mop from one of the girls and the guy came to help me to finish cleaning it and I thanked him continually for helping me clean. However your aggressive, unprofessional, and inaccurate response to my initial post shows me everything I need to know. I can see where your staff is learning it from. I also suggest you re-review your video footage and see how I was treated from the very beginning. And I suggest you all learn about how to treat and serve your customers
Initial review: Most bizarre coffee shop experience I ever had. My husband and I are visiting from out of town and decided to come here. I am not sure why but we were meet with the rudest and most unpleasant service. All I asked was about caffeine content in a the refresher drink.. which the girl had no idea about. Another girl was mocking me behind my face and saying stuff about me. Which I brushed off.. I went and researched the information online and after I found it I decided to order the drink. I also told the girl that I found the information and told her the caffeine content so if anyone ever asks her, and was met with silence. I wasn't rude or mean about it at all. I then overheard which I don't have a proof of that they put something in my drink.. I don't know what. I assume they spit in it because they were once again mocking about it. When it was brought to the table it was done with attitude. So I decided not to drink and discard the drink becauseI didn't feel safe drinking it.. sadly I missed the trash can and it spilled all over which I did help to clean right away. I asked for a rag and I said I spilled my drink, a guy came and helped clean it. I didn't say a word about the drink or a refund but the girl brought another one to me again with huge attitude, and once again I didn't feel safe drinking it. So I discarded it later.. My husband was like, what was that?! I asked him did I come off as rude was I mean? He is like no... He said clearly the girl had an issue with you without a reason.. As much as I wanted to like this place we would not be coming back to this...

It is most certainly you. Your curt response in what we call "nice / nasty" fashion is a dead ringer. It's confirming. I'd just visited new Los Altos developments and stopped by for coffee and a bite to eat. While you may be 300 miles away today, the day of my incident in which this review records the details, you were in fact up close and personal. I have not been back to your establishment since. You did offer to refund me the twenty dollars "if that's what I wanted". Maintaining principle, I refused and left. Be well.
The latte I order along with the food was flat out horrible. I very politely padded my feedback and asked may I have the latte re-made please, I'd informed the cashier simply suffer with the food to avoid waste. The cashier was very kind and non-problematic. The owner as described by other customers/reviewers that also gave this place a very low rating was extrenely indignant and in my face aggressive. The owner and a young female staffer seemed to have a interesting bond, she was also very nasty and found the entire incident a source of amusement after telling the cashier she refused to remake my drink and asking the kind cashier what was she thinking to have even offered me a re-make. The cashier kept whisper how sorry she was I was experiencing all of this.
The poor behavior was blatant and appalling. But what I find truly interesting is upon my arrival, I watched and listened the owner speaking to a table near the door. He was asking for some form of partnership. While doing so, he was incredibly flattering to the man and even offered to comp the name and his family's meal. Then I come here and read Monique's one star review were she was refused when asked to apply a $10 birthday gift card. The poor behavior in addition to being blatant and appalling is also targeted.
