Update. Came back a week later, this time for dinner and we sat at the hibachi grill. She did filet mignon and shrimp combo, I had steak and scallop combo, cranberry ginger whiskey smash, shrimp and veg tempura, and dragon roll. I do believe we are hooked on this place. Sushi was well prepared like last time. Shrimp was cleaned well, no "vein" in them. Chef was entertaining with the vegetable to mouth toss, as well as sake squirts to us. All of our food turned out really well, so I'm updating from a 4 star to a 5 star review.
First time there, we will be coming back to explore more of the menu. Went on a Saturday at noon. Nice decor, nice lighting, nice atmosphere. Both ordered hot green tea. This was good, plain, green tea. No sweetener, no jasmine, no lemon, just green tea, which is the way we like it. We went with the bento lunches. She had the salmon, seaweed salad, shumai, and dragon roll. I had the chicken, gyoza, volcano roll, and chef choice sushi. Also ordered some scallop sushi separately. Sushi was great. Rice properly seasoned and portioned. Dragon roll seemed like there were a lot of cucumbers from the cross section, but it worked well and tasted great. The bento came with miso and salad. Miso was good. Miso seems so simple but a lot of places mess it up. This was actually to my liking. Salad was good as well, but a little too much dressing on my portion. The only downside, and loss of a star, was on the rice and protein in the bento. The rice honestly tasted like the costco rice, which is fine, but a little too bland. Both my chicken and her salmon were a little overcooked, my chicken more so than her salmon, and ended up being too dry. The teriyaki sauce was nice, not too thick and not too heavy in flavor. Bed of veg under the protein was also good. Can't speak on the hibachi as we were sitting in a booth, but we enjoyed out food and...
Read moreFound this place on a whim. Japanese feel and look with the decor. Liked how there was a coat rack in the front, something you don't see normally, which is cool. Booths are LARGE! Easily could fit 6 people, 3 on each side. Would be great for both families and parties. There is a large menu and can be overwhelming but taking your time and looking over everything you can see what sections are what. Prices are average to an upscale sushi/hibachi restaurant.
For appetizer, the shumai had 6 pieces and tasted like how a shumai should taste. They're pretty small in size compared to an average shumai. Miso soup is just that, miso soup. I'm not a fan of miso, I still ate most of the bowl.
Yaki udon with shrimp was $15! Was it worth $15? I believe it was! Large portion size. Large shrimp, and even got 6 pieces too. First impression of it was wow and glad it's not salty. Vegetables didn't overpower the udon. Not too much seasoning also which I feel most chefs try to add flavor to udon hoping it isn't bland. This is a good thing, personally. It's all balanced together, would definitely get it again.
Sushi! Why not try the sushi. Presentation was on point! Plated was best of the best and snow roll. On the snow roll, tempura shrimp added texture to the roll. Spicy crab on top with masago (not sure if that's the sauce used) worked well with shrimp. Favorite roll between the two. Best of the best is not what I believed this roll to be. It tasted like a Cali roll with eel sauce topped with cooked salmon. I think the salmon should have stayed raw as most of the salmon flavor was lost when cooked.
Overall, this place is truly an upscale hibachi & sushi restaurant. Definitely will come back to try some more of them menu and maybe hibachi! I recommend...
Read moreServer did not listen well. My friend has a mayonnaise allergy and asked for a role with crab to use the stick of crab meat and not minced crab meat that has mayonnaise. Server said there was no crab in the role she ordered, found out that he was wrong, came and admitted his wrong but told the kitchen to eliminate the crab altogether. We eventually came to a remedy of that situation and they remade the role. There were a few small items we kept having to ask multiple times to get which just caused for a little frustration. I specifically told our cook at the hibachi no teriyaki sauce in my chicken. He forgot who asked for no teriyaki and put the chicken on my friend's plate. We informed him I was the one with no teriyaki not her. She had already been eating off of her plate. He proceeded to take his spatulas and dig through her food to remove the chicken and put it on my plate..... The family sitting across from us at the same hibachi table had a horrified look on their face. Later they contributed to the conversation we had with the manager and let them know he just kept digging into her food and how nasty that was. I don't care if my friend was my mother, it is unsanitary to dig into someone else's plate that has already been eating and placed the food onto somebody else's plate while using the spatulas you're using for everyone's food. One too many things had already happened for me to decide I was not coming back to this place. They're ginger salad dressing is chunkyamd I did not like that. That's one of my favorite things at other teppanyaki's so that was a little disappointing. But once he dug into my friend's plate to fish out chicken, I was absolutely horrified and finished. I will never be back at this...
