Our server, Meghan, was delightful & quick on the drink orders. Food served within 15 minutes . . . Our friends ordered a chopped salad with chicken, bacon. avocado, tomatoes, and bleu cheese & Reuben sandwich ( corned beef, melted provolone cheese, 1000 Island dressing, and cole slaw) which they loved! My wife ordered the salmon w/ lettuce, tomato, onion sandwich; I ordered the quesadilla with chicken, onions, cheese, and mushrooms. Both were excellent!
Not sure Magoo’s has live music? They do have Whiskey Wednesday tastings, which includes dinner . . . $75 per person. If you like to travel, Magoo’s offers trips to Europe (eg. Portugal , Ireland, Scotland). It’s gearing up for St. Patrick’s Day ☘️! You might try the Guinness Stew, very good over at the old “Jennifer’s”!
I read many of the reviews, sad to see so many negative reviews on rudeness. Doesn’t sound like the Jennifer we knew years ago! As Jennifer walked around to greet her clients, my wife and I found her to be very polite & easy...
Read moreWe gave this place 2 tries and both times they struck out. First time was during covid, when all the Frederick restaurants had seating on the sidewalk. We had our little dog with us and have been at a few bars with our dog. All of the other places let us sit outside with our dog. We went to Macgoos for a drink and they wouldn't serve us on the sidewalk bc they had our dog with us-yet every other place had done so. If you know anything about Frederick, it's a very pet friendly downtown. I understand if we would have went inside the place but we weren't, we were out on the sidewalk seating they had. Strike one. Gast forward a few years later. We were downtown Frederick without our dog this time and decided to give then another try. It was St Patty's weekend and we walked to the door and was met by a pretty unfriendly hostess. We were informed that if we were not ordering food, we can't come in for a drink, but she gave us the option to go downstairs to the basement bar to order our drinks. We said ok and went to the basement. It was a storage room with an old brand drink selection was very limited. So we got a drink and went back up to the sidewalk seating. We watched several patrons come and go and they weren't asked about ordering food and just went in for a drink. This is the last time we will ever give them a chance. I encourage several others to...
Read moreDo you enjoy a thematically designed menu executed proficiently by the kitchen but served by a staff of combative individuals? Quotes from our server and bartender today:
"It's called 'Number Three,' see the tap handle?" - stated the bartender about Lot No. 3 IPA, as is marked on the tap handle, from Evolution Craft Brewery. I've always heard of the Lot No. beers from Evolution referred to as "Lot 'X'." Unfortunately, ordering the beer as "Lot 3 IPA" results in a side-eyed look from the server and an incredulous reprimand from the "jolly" bartender dawning her Santa cap as she explained that there is no such beer.
”Those are not jalapeños!" - stated by our server about the massive slices of jalapeño found in the veggie quesadilla, ordered with no jalapeños. With no exaggeration, this quesadilla was spilling over with the sliced, pickeled jalapeños that one would expect on movie theater nachos. The server finally admitted they were jalapeños after blaming the kitchen incessantly for not reading what he'd written on the ticket.
If the food we ordered was not tasty, this would have been a...
