While in line to order, we noticed a worker carrying an uncovered plunger and a roll of paper towels come out of the bathroom that had an "out of order" sign. He then proceeded to place the recently used and uncovered plunger down next to a table and handed the roll of paper towels he had in the bathroom over the counter where a worker put them behind the counter and was also using those same paper towels to wipe off the prep area. Call me a prude, but personally I think it's more than a little gross to take some paper towels from a bathroom that an employee was handling while presumably plunging a toilet and then use those same paper towels behind the counter where food and drinks are prepared. I let the workers know that those paper towels just came from the bathroom and that it was a little gross to use them behind the counter. An older lady who I assume was a manager came over and rather rudely and dismissively made it clear that there was no issue with, again, freshly used paper towels from a bathroom, being used in a food prep area. Just something to keep in mind if you were planning to give this place your business; there are loads of other coffee shops that I'm fairly certain take cleanliness more seriously.

Coffee Shop No. 501 Market Street Boba & Beans Fredrick, MD April 18, 2025 There is something inspiring and hopeful about old buildings that are revitalized with a bit of modern flair, but the historic bones are kept in place. Market Street Boba & Beans did a stellar feat at this by keeping two wood arched framed windows at the font of the shop and placed seating on a slight platform in front of the windows. The gold ceiling and moulding perfectly accented the bold black coffee bar and light colored walls. Lucky for me I was able to soak up some afternoon sunshine at one of the window seats making it perfect for daydreaming and people watching. Initially Market Street Boba & Beans was on my radar because I was missing my youngest adult son (it’s weird typing that) who is a huge fan of boba. I am not a fan of boba and never order it in my drinks, but on this day I did. I ordered Thai tea slush with boba along with my usual cortado; both drinks were delicious. I would definitely return to this shop. Enjoying life one cortado at a time!

Adding to my review: I come here frequently and is my go to boba tea shop. Today, I ordered their seasonal pumpkin spice boba. It was so delicious and perfectly autumn. The people making it took extra care to make it look beautiful. The staff is always so welcoming, friendly, and helpful. The shop is always clean and inviting. The food and drinks are always delicious. Highly recommend if you’re wandering downtown (they have delicious coffees too if boba isn’t your thing!) After the boba tea shop near me closed during the pandemic, I was sad. During a conversation with someone at the post office I mentioned my sadness, and they highly recommended this shop. I stopped by today, everyone was super friendly and the boba tea is super delicious! It was exactly what I needed after a super long and difficult week. 💕 I will be returning when I come downtown again (probably every time I go to the library 😂).

I wanted to love this place. We ordered when the place was empty. No one was even behind the counter when we came in. Finally, we were asked our orders. Pretty simple and followed the flow exactly. Another group came In and he took their order halfway through making ours. Forgot what he was doing and asked for an assist from another worker idle in the back.

They came to help and started making my drink but stopped to take another order.

The first person finished the next people’s drinks and skipped mine. We watched several people’s coffee come out for about fifteen minutes then asked about my boba. They had now made 2 bobas in front of mine.

When I asked they told me mine had been sitting aside but no one called it out and it was made wrong.

Then the line got long out of no where and five minutes later I asked again about my drink. Someone who clearly worked there walked in and the second attendant became very distracted- after already realizing the drink is like 4 customers behind and been made wrong once… I watched them stand there and wait for the other persons attention.

My drink was called and … it was made wrong. Still not blended as requested when there were zero tickets and zero line.

The two individuals scheduled for this shift should not be alone together. Neither has the ability to manage a crowd, multiple tickets, or speak clearly or loudly enough to balance each other.

The two could not manage the coordination to finish each others work. It would have been an easy collaboration to pour the final drink and hand it out.

The worker who was CLEARLY off- stepped in to help the two flailing in the wind. Though they attended the end of my experience and noteably addressed me with rude sarcasm, I can understand that they missed the flagrant disregard and lack of function that preceded… and they stepped in solving the problem immediately and picked up the rest of the tickets.

All in all I’d return but I was so disappointed in the time management and the lack of care to the repeated mistake and lack of...

My friend and I decided to try Boba & Beans for the first time on Saturday 6/10/2023. We are regulars to downtown Frederick shopping and love to frequent and support the local small businesses, especially Earthly Elements next door which is one of our FAVORITE shops. When we entered Market street boba and beans it was quiet and there was no line, we walked up to the register and placed and order for 2 boba teas and sat down. By the time the man at the register had take our order a line had formed behind us. My friend's tea was made and placed on the counter and he retrieved it and started drinking it while I waited for mine. Then several coffees were prepared for people who arrived and placed their orders after me. I went up to the counter and asked if someone was preparing my drink to which the barista replied "Ma'am there's a line" I said "I know, but I already ordered and you made one drink but not the other" and sat back down. A few minutes later my friend finished his 24oz boba tea and I went back to the counter and said "I would just like my tea or a refund please". Because at this point it was clear my order had been skipped. Then another customer started screaming at me about how I had no patience waiting for my blended coffee drink (not what I ordered I have no idea why she was getting involved because she wasn't even there when I ordered my drink and didn't know what it was or how long I had been waiting). At this point the man who took my order threw a $10 bill at me and told me to leave. At no point did I raise my voice. I found this to be an extremely upsetting and disappointing experience. I have no idea if the tea was good, but I will...

The pros: very customizable menu, with laid out steps. Some unique customization options include: blended (like a smoothie/ICEE) or shaken, black/green/fruit tea base, regular milk or non-milk substitutions, lots of Boba types, and toppings such as oreos. nice design of the shop's interior nice employees

The taro oatmilk boba tea that I got was good, but I wish the ice was blended more into the drink. I ended up just chewing on small ice crystals toward the end.

For the cons, there were just a couple of things that were annoying and affected the enjoyment of the tea:

two of our drinks were forgotten about, which happens, but we were standing there for a long time after other people's orders, obviously standing in the waiting area by the counter. Nobody asked us if we needed any help. We had to bring it up once we saw that the employees were cleaning up. my brother's drink had a broken cap. This could have been due to a manufacturing defect of the cap, but his drink was immediately spilling once he had gotten it. It was tough to drink; there was still liquid stuck between the cap and the cup. the black Boba tea straw, once opened and out of the plastic wrap, smelled like garlic? Or fast-food/stir-fry. Not a huge deal after taking a couple of sips of the tea, but kinda...
