Miller's Ale House — Restaurant in Gainesville

This one's going to take a few minutes. It was a Monday night which it's a bad night to go out because a lot of places are closed. We couldn't find anything and I've heard that Miller's Ale House was good so we headed over there. Got there of course they were busy. We found a place at the bar. The bartender appear to be stressed out not really giving as much attention but as I watched I realized he was also dealing with the takeout orders clearly too much for one person and a place that busy and he was keeping up. So we ordered a round of drinks and I believe they were margaritas handed me mine looked at my wife and poured it out we were like we would have drank that and he held the glass up my says not what this fly in it. We laugh he was starting to come around by then. He realize we're just trying to relax and have a decent meal and started to chat with us turned out he was a nice person and doing a good job the bartender should have got a 5-star rating. So our food came out and it wasn't bad but the kicker was the a piece of white wax paper that I chewed on for a few before I realized it was. So I showed the bartender and again we laughed. He went straight to the back and gave the cook some hell about it and said we got some type of discount . But the tab was a hundred bucks like always we left him a good tip but for 100. Dollars you shouldn't have to deal with a fly in your drink and packaging from food left in your meal. I could have easily rated this place three stars instead of 4 but the bartender was good at his job and made an honest effort to smooth things out I know no place is perfect but these staffing issues with the Dirty Glass and the rapidly prepared food it's definitely a sign...

All in all, I have had good experiences at Miller. It’s a decent place to go watch a game in Gainesville and usually has a good atmosphere. The TV’s can sometimes be poorly managed but they’re attentive if you want to see a specific channel.

Drinks and food are always decent. My most recent trip was what got me. My party and I came on a Monday night to watch a game. We arrived around 8pm and got sat. Our waiter was attentive but a bit curt in his manner. One of us ordered a drink and while the ID was being inspected, I ordered my drink, and he abruptly said “one at a time, please.” He then proceeded to scrutinize all 4 of our ID’s very closely, asking one of our party members for a credit card that matched her name. He had to be at our table for at least 4 minutes looking at our ID’s.

Around 9pm, multiple staff started the closing activities in our section. Mind you, they don’t close until 1am, and there are still 2 other parties sitting in this section. First, one worker was banging ketchup bottles on the tables to combine them right across from where we were, a bit disruptive to our conversation. They then start moving all the chairs, boxing us into our booth.

The part that really got me was when they started mopping while we were still sitting there. They dumped a whole bucket of water on the ground and mopped it right past us. We left about 20 minutes later and the floor was still so wet we should have skated to the front. I’m all for clean floors, but I don’t think I’ve ever had staff so blatantly start closing a section before the last table in that area leaves, 4 hours before restaurant close. Update 8.17 Shout out time. My husband and I are regulars here and yes we have our regular waitstaff that are amazing and they make our experience here wonderful!! Colby, Kaitlyn, Jay, Jimmy, Taylor, Shelby, Jaz just ask for them they are great. Clint one of the managers is absolutely the best..also there is a new manager JJ or AJ how he interacts with the customers as well as the workers is great. this is why we come back.

Revised: 6.04.2023 Let's just start off with how the past 3 times our food has been great. We are just really hoping that they now have the right managers in place. As always, our service here is amazing. Haley, Taylor, Jimmy, Colby, Jazz, and Katelyn are some of the best. We do, however, miss BJ!! They are the reason we come here. I still can not give it a 5 star.

After many, many disappointing meals, we still went in hopes that things would be better. Today was just that!! We had Mr. Hodge the Regional Manager come to speak with us and things that were going on be knew nothing about was corrected at that moment.
