Root Beer Revelry — Restaurant in Galena

Had this been our first visit, we likely wouldn't be back. In prior visits, we have always delighted in the owner describing all the new rootbeers on tap and his overall friendly and warm personality. The young man who was working yesterday didn't greet us when we arrived and barely interacted to the point that I wasn't sure if we were supposed to order from him. Then when asked if he could tell us anything about the root beers, all he could say is which one was most popular. I'm not sure if he was having a bad day or just wasn't trained. We had one float and left. This is one of our favorite destinations, and we will keep coming as long as this was a one time fluke. But had this been our first visit, we definitely wouldn't be returning. I'm hoping not too many new customers experienced...

LOVE this place!! We stop here every time we fly in to Chicago and make a side trip to Galena. My husband always handpicks a six pack of root beers that are his favorites or new ones he wants to try. This last visit we accidentally left our newly purchased six pack behind at our hotel. The owner/manager of the shop were incredible!!! They were willing to stop by the hotel to retrieve the six pack and ship it to us ,OR to help us try to remember which beers my husband had chosen (they sent us photos of all of the choices in the store!) and then ship it for us. Big root beer head over here. This place is like a root beer mecca. Quite a good selection of root beers and other sodas (move over, rocket fizz) I picked up a few I hadn't tried yet. But the real highlight is what they have on draft. Nothing in a bottle or can could ever compare. They had at least five options from local Midwestern breweries. Their in-house brew though- Fever River was simply outstanding. You can get a growler of it to take home. It's kinda pricy, but you get a discount if you bring the growler back to refill, which I certainly will next time I visit. The staff were super nice, "living the root beer dream". As we...
