Old Cellar Bar — Restaurant in Galveston

Over 4th of July weekend, I was in town with a GM for Hilton. We were meeting the GM for a group of restaurants in the area to discuss ways to bring more patrons and nightlife to the area. On Sunday the 3rd , We were walking the Strand and decided this place would be a great place for the meeting because it had a small number of patrons and was quiet. The long stringy haired bartender was so completely rude to us that we just had one beer and moved our meeting elsewhere. This venue has a warm and comfortable feel to it right in the historic downtown portion of Galveston, with inviting staff and prompt and courteous service. The customer experience was great and we enjoyed connecting with friends from the local area. They DO allow smoking in doors so be aware of this if you have allergies or are generally sensitive to such things. Navigating through the bar itself can be tricky as there are some very narrow areas and the restrooms are in dire need of deep...

If the other more popular bars are full I come here. Even if they're not, I still come here. Probably the friendliest pub in the Strand district. Excellent beer selection and decent liquor selection. The bar is split in two and I recommend going to the one on the left when you're looking at it from outside. The one on the right seems a bit musty and it gets to you after a while. The one on the left not so much. I still love the hell out...
