5 stars FOR SURE. The food is by far the BEST Mexican food we've found here in Texas (we moved from California two years ago). The plates are always hot and fresh and they offer a wide variety of items. You definitely get what you pay for too. Nice hearty portions. My family and I have visited both the Cedar Park location and the Georgetown one. Georgetown is by far MY FAVORITE. It's a bit deceiving from the outside of the restaurant itslelf because it's appears to be so small. But, let me tell ya- that staff there does one hell of a job!! Superstars EVERYTIME WE VISIT!!! They truly make this restaurant. Yes, there is usually a wait time. But, I can assure you that these people play with a full deck (super refreshing nowadays). They are over the top attentive. Including the PHENOMENAL PERFORMANCE BY THE SERVERS!! They always work together.....Now...dun, dun,,,dunnnnn....for the negative. And this part is definitely one of those 'make it or break it' deals for the whole establishment itself. On Saturday, late afternoon/early evening, on our most recent visit to Dos Salsas, it was apparent that the air conditioning was broken. Okay, sure, it happens. However, there are so many other factors to key in. My father, for example, is a germaphobe and immediately began freaking out about the possible transmission of 'viruses' being so much more of a risk. I myself, trying to assure him it was all going to be just fine was shocked to find out that the AC had indeed been out for several days. Really? I just called Dos Salsas to kindly ask if it had been repaired yet. Unfortunately, no. It has not. THIS IS COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE TO THOSE PEOPLE WORKING THERE AND IT NEEDS TO BE FIXED IMMEDIATELY. yes, it sucks to be a customer too. I always consider it a treat when we get to go out for dinner. But, this weekend and the thought of those poor, sweet amazing people busting their assess in that extremely uncomfortable environment has truly been tugging at my heart. There is no reason, aside from negligence, that this issue still has yet to be adressed. Also, I'm not sure, but, maybe the leaks in the roof (visible on the ceiling) could be addressed at the same time. Im not bashing this place at all. I love it. It's wonderful. However, VALUE is huge in my book. Whomever has the luxury of not only owning, but running that little restaurant truly needs to give it a little love. Value it, and most importantly that amazing group of people whom work there. It obvious that they truly go above and beyond. They deserve to at very least have all of the proper tools to do their jobs. Again, amazing food, even more amazing human beings working there......but, Dos Salsas is definitely lacking. They lack in the 'Glue' holding it...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI used to eat at Dos Salsas around 15 years ago! I lived in Georgetown with my mom and fiance and Dos Salsas was one of our go-to spots for a yummy meal at an amazing price. The food was top rate and my kids loved picking out sweets from the counter in front of the long red bench at the front. I can't tell you how many birthdays, celebrations, or just normal meals we had under the roof of Dos Salsas, but it was somewhere in the ballpark of once a week/week and a half for 3+ years. We knew all the staff, we talked with the owners, we loved everything about this restaurant. Fast forward to yesterday. My children are grown, I'm married to my soulmate (not the previous fiance š ), and my mom has since passed away. We live in Jarrell now and we were out grocery shopping and running errands in Georgetown. My husband wanted good Mexican food and I immediately thought of Dos Salsas! We have been in Jarrell for over a year now, but we rarely eat out, so I hadn't thought of any restaurants in Georgetown, until that moment. I didn't need to use GPS, and directed my husband where to go.
When I tell you that it felt like directing someone to your childhood home, to your old elementary school, or your favorite park as a child.... I mean this whole heartedly and I found myself tearing up as we pulled into the parking lot. I loved the new outside patio, but due to my health, I couldn't sit outside. The parking was a lot different, but I do remember having to park in the businesses parking, behind the restaurant, back in the day. I'm in a wheelchair now, so when I was entering the patio area, I got distracted with how beautiful it looked! When I wheeled in to see the same counter and the same red bench at the front, I felt like I was going back in time. We were sat immediately, and our waitress (I'm so sorry I don't remember her name, but she was working the back tables around 6pm on July 18th, she needs a raise!) was amazing, and the level of service was as great as I remember it to be. The food was also insanely good and I was finding it hard to not cry at some points. Remembering my children's birthdays, who are now grown and out of the house. Remembering my mom's laughter, who passed two years ago. Everything was bittersweet, but I couldn't have been happier in that moment. I may not know any of the staff, I may not have seen the owners, and it may not have been a special occasion, but it meant everything to me. So thank you Dos Salsas, for changing in a good way, but also staying the same. We'll...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI usually do not post negative reviews because I know everyone has off days but this one was too extreme not to share. Iāve lived in Georgetown almost my entire life and this Dos Salsas has been a huge staple. Birthdays, holidays, celebrations, etc. but after today I legit cannot bring myself to come back ever again.
Today, mid way into my burrito, a full live cockroach crawled out from underneath my tortilla and began crawling all over my food and table. After flinging itās obviously dying body onto the floor I called my waiter over and told him what happened. I have never seen this waiter before so he must be fairly new; his service showed that as well. Once I told him what happened he tried arguing with me saying thereās no way he crawled out of my food because the plate was too hot, he must have crawled off the table or fell from the ceiling ⦠???? Iām sorry I literally saw him with my two eyes crawl out of my burrito. So I told him no, thatās not what happened, my plate was not hot and that I saw it happen. After a minute of literal back and forth he says heās going to get his manager. After waiting 5 minutes completely skeeved out, my waiter returns WITHOUT his manager and says he comped my boyfriend and Iās burritos but makes me pay for the drinks and queso we were served (which they only were serving water and bottled Mexican cola??). I toss him a $20 for my $16 bill and leave extremely upset, no longer hungry, disgusted, and disappointed. As a general manager of food service myself, to not even be met by the manager over a very serious food hazard was not only disappointing but incredibly telling of how they handle/care for situations regarding food safety. I can see why the reviews and loyalty to this restaurant have gone down. Neither my family or I will be...
