Huey's is one of those locals that will forever be dear to my heart! The first time I visited was at the end of the Summer of 97'. Just experienced a bad breakup and was cruising around town to clear my head. And then I got hungry when it dawned on me I hadn't eaten in nearly 2 days! At this point, anything would of been suffice. I was in Midtown and Huey's caught my eye. Never heard of the place, but it looked inviting. Went in and didn't realize how packed the place was and elected to seat at the bar, rather than wait for a table to free up. Ordered the Huey Burger and potato wedges. By far one of the best burgers I ever had. And that wasn't influenced by the hunger pangs that landed me there. While dining a frail man took a seat next to me at the bar. His name was John and he was terminally ill. Although I was deliberately being stand-offish, he saw that I was in pain and just struck up the most uplifting conversation; leaving me feeling encouraged. I knew I'd never see John again. He assured me of that. But it was in that time and space, I decided; "If a guy who knows he's dying could spend his few precious moments in time to lift my spirits; by golly I can honor his benevolence and stop my pity party and start pursuing happiness again!" Now why did I include that personal snippet in a restaurant review? Because it's important that's why? It is wonderful people like John that I tend to meet over and over again at Huey's. No matter which location I visit. Employees and patrons alike. I will forever miss my friend, albeit we only knew each other for about 1 hour. The lesson will last a lifetime. I have Huey's to partly thank for that. For being an establishment that attracts wonderful human beings; who can appreciate a tasty burger amongst other delicious menu items. And wherever you are in the cosmos John, thank you kind sir. One of the first places I brought my then fiancé in 2008, was the Midtown location. I told her why that particular establishment was so special to me. She wept with equal melancholy and joy, saying I was blessed to have...
Read moreUnfortunately I cannot review the food but the service and management were lacking class, courtesy and common decency. My family and I contacted Huey's this evening around 8:30 PM to request a reservation. We were advised that reservations were not necessary, the establishment was far from busy and so long as we arrived by 9:30 PM that we could dine in. We were told the kitchen would be open until at least 10:00 PM. We arrived at 9:06 PM and a younger, sloppily dressed blonde lady with bad breath greeted us. She took our names and quoted us a 15-20 minute wait, we agreed, she sent a text message confirmation and our table was scheduled to be ready at 9:26 PM. Instead of seating my family including my young daughter at 9:26 PM, we were told that the restaurant was no longer seating patrons and that we had waited (with a hungry youngster!) for nothing! After traveling all day, excited to be out of our vehicle and STARVING, this was definitely not the experience we were hoping for. Sadly, the stinky blonde lady showed no empathy and did not even offer a take out option. She claimed to be the restaurant manager and for the sake of this establishments future, I hope this is not true. I dont care how good the food supposedly is, this place will never receive my...
Read moreIt's fairly expensive for a burger and Philly steak at around $35 with one side of regular tater tots, no drinks, gratituity added at 18% However it's conveniently located next to a hotel the Holiday inns and suites. The Philly cheese steak tasted good however the hostess from which I ordered my food when asked how big the Philly steak was she held her hands out like it was really big so I didn't order a side but had I known it was going to be a 6-in sub I probably would have or ordered something else to fill me up. The burger looks like something you would get at a normal fast food joint not really anything special and I'm sorry to say it because I went to this restaurant to try and give it a good review and even though I took my order to go and only stepped in the front this was my experience. When my order arrived I asked for extra napkins, ketchup, fork, knife, and mustard; the hostess begrudgingly obliged my request. This was May 31st 2025 around 7:00 p.m. for reference. I gave the atmosphere of four Stars because we didn't eat inside and from what I could see it looks like a bar and restaurant. Judge for yourself from the pictures I took of the menu...
