I was super excited to try a place my friend spoke very highly of. I had read both the outside board and inside menus and when I was greeted and asked what I'd like to order I commented that it was my first time (I meant this with excitement, not confusion and already knew what I wanted) I was asked if I wanted a menu and replied "no I can read" jokingly. The girl ringing in orders and the barista openly showed their disgust with my reply. The girl ringing walked to the back behind a wall while the barista made what I requested to be an Americano with extra cream. I apologized for offending her when she brought my drink to the counter and she told me "it was your tone" I then asked if she had gotten the extra cream which she had not and offered to give me some seperate which I didn't want as I wanted it in my drink so it was drinkable and not scalding hot. While I waited for my food another customer came in and asked how everyone's day was going, the girl ringing proceeded to say she tries to bring her customer service but doesn't get it back. I clearly had ruined her day. My friend finally arrived and I was explaining to her how delicious my crepe was but the customer service was offensive and the batista walked out to give her the drink she'd ordered. I said to the girl trying again to make the situation better that I had not intended to offend either of them and she didn't say a word and walked away. If it wasn't for the girl making the crepes being extremely friendly and delightful I wouldn't have tipped. I spent $23 on a delicious monte cristo crepe, mushroom soup, and an Americano. I really would want to go in again if it wasn't for such a terrible first experience over not...
Read moreThis small cafe may be tucked inside Peninsula Family Medical Center, but it far surpasses the quality and character of your usual "medical center" cafe. Locally owned and operated for 15 years, Occasions Coffee offers a variety of teas, Forza coffee, light fare like soups and sandwiches, and grab and go snacks. Their specialty is crepes, both sweet and savory.
I ordered a Brie and apple sweet crepe (it can also be made with savory spices) for 6 dollars. After picking out an apple from the countertop, I watched as the cook chopped my apple, sliced my Brie, and poured the dough onto the crepe maker. The heaping crepe was served on compostable disposable plates and cutlery with a satisfying flourish of whipped cream on top.
Occasions also sells locally made arts and crafts, including pottery, textiles like table runners and aprons, and paintings made by the owner's daughter. Many of these are reasonably priced, in the 10-20...
Read moreI try to choose local small businesses wanting to support local business, always pay in cash because I worry about overhead and charges. I stopped for a coffee after an appointment and when I got back to my car discovered it was just warm. I had an appointment the next day and went out of my way to let your shop know they are serving cold coffee, not to complain but to promote improvement. What I got was condescending remarks and called untruthful. Even if it is with a smile it was rude and hurtful. I’ve been a customer here for years and when he was a cross the street I supported him there too but if you think cold coffee and rudeness will entice me into this business again you are mistaken. I can go without coffee, soup, crepes what ever it may be if it includes a demeaning non caring attitude...
