Ordered dinner to go for my Dad and I. I ordered a chicken pot pie but shortly received a call (important to note) from the manager letting me know that they were sold out of the chicken pot pie and asked if I would like something else. I placed an order for the chicken fried chicken, which wasnāt a big deal because I like The chicken fried chicken I was just feeling a little under the weather so I wanted that chicken pot pie. My Dad picked up the order on the way home.
When he got home, I started unpackaged the food and noticed that none of the food inside of the bag was correct even though it has the correct receipt with the correct order on that receipt Stapled to the outside of the bag.
I called the store and asked for the manager. The first time I was placed on hold for five minute but I hung up do to no answer. I called back and was connected to the manager Kristen or Christina, I dont recall. It was the same manager who has previously called me to update my order. I started to explain what was wrong when she stopped me and told me that they recognized the mix up and that the food got switched around. I ask her how that could happen when every time I pick up a to go order they always go over the order with me. She said, no, we dont do that. I reiterated to her that every time Iāve picked up they have gone over my order. She seemed annoyed and stood by that they donāt double check the order. The funny thing on the recipt tapped to the bag at the bottom thereās a big section that says DOUBLE CHECK ORDER and a place to sign off on it. That was left blank.
What I donāt understand though is why the manager didnāt call and say that we had the wrong order if they discovered it shortly after the food was picked up? I mean within 2 minutes of me placing my order I was called to be informed of the substitution needed for my order. They could have easily reached out and my dad would have turned back around. We live 22 minutes from there so itās not a quick trip around the corner.
The manager refunded the order and said they would remake our food. My Dad made the 40 minute around trip drive to pick the correct dinner up. Thinking that this was all going to be better im quickly disappointed. The food was ice cold. The chicken fried chicken looked like 2 McDonaldās chicken pattys and had no flavor. The mashed potatoes were literally cold. Iāve ordered to go enough times from them that I know what the temp usually is on the food from the drive home. This was nowhere near that. Then it hit me. They probably didnāt remake our food. They probably just held the original food that was returned back from the other customer and gave that to my dad when he went back.
So dinner was a bust and the service was poor to go along with it. This seems like a trend with Cracker Barrel lately which is a bummer. They used to have legendary service that set them apart from their like restaurant peers and amazing food that was delicious and true comfort. Hope they...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI take care of my disabled mother who is bedridden and doesn't get to go out much. After working a thirteen hour shift, I was extremely hungry and decided to take my mom out to her favorite restaurant. When I told her we're going to cracker barrel, she was very excited. She loves to shop for candies after we eat. However, this was probably one of the worst experiences I have ever had a cracker barrel, or any restaurant for that matter, and i'm not one to complain. When we first sat down, it took several minutes for the server to come over.It took her so long that by the time she got to us, we knew exactly what we were going to order. We ordered everything at once. I ordered a coffee and my mom ordered a strawberry mimosa, and we asked 2 waters on the side. I also ordered "salad to start with" with onions on it. When the server finally came out with their drinks. I assumed that she was going to go back for the waters because she had a few other drinks on her tray. When she didn't come back at first I didn't see it as a big deal, because people get busy and forget water all the time. I assumed I would see her again and be able to flag her down to ask her for the water, I did not. She did notn come out from the back one time. After twenty five minutes, we still had not received our food or my salad "to start with." Finally, she came out with everything at once. And the salad did not have the onions. Also, didn't see it as a big deal, but at this point I was frustrated. When she was about to walk away, I asked her to please bring our waters and the onions that I asked for. She came out with the onions, and my mom side of coastlaw but not the water. She stated that she'd come back with the water but didn't for several minutes. Because of my mom's disability, she needs water to help her swallow her food. Before she could come back with our water, my mom was having trouble swallowing her food and tried using her mimosa, which just made it worse. She immediately got sick and we rushed to the bathroom where she threw up. As we were walking away to go to the bathroom, finally, the server arrived, but it was too late. She also had a tray of 11 or so drinks. If you forget someones drink you'd think you'd take care of them right away and come back for the others. When we got back from the restroom I talked to the manager who was very kind and concerning, I told him my mom was no longer able to eat and we needed to take the food to go so we did. In this entire experience, I would like to commend both the manager and the lady who assigns you to your seats (I did not get her name but I wish I had). They were both very very kind.
Both my mother and I were really excited for cracker barrel, mostly my mom, because it is her favorite. But unfortunately, what was supposed to be a good experience, was ruined by...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy family of 12 needed to eat out this year instead of cooking at grandmas for Thanksgiving. We arrive around 5pm, waited a little over 2 hours, then as we were finally getting called in to be seated, they let us know there was no more turkey or chicken of any kind left. When we finally sit, they tell us the food will take about an hour to be served after we order. At this point we are starving, out of options, and have to order from the regular menu. The waitstaff was nice enough to give us extra complimentary bread and a slice of pie as we waited (I should note, the cornbread was off, it tasted more like baking soda and salt with hardly any corn bread flavor) but as you can imagine, everyone was seriously disappointed. When we asked if we could still have the Thanksgiving special with a different protein substitute (because they were out of turkey and chicken) the waitstaff didn't make it easy, and just kept repeating the fact that we could order other dishes from the menu along with the same sides from the special (this would end up costing us more money). Anyway, we finally get our food! My mom ordered meatloaf for the first time in her life and it was served cold. She was not prepared for the way it looked either, as you can imagine, cold meatloaf looked like dog food and left her feeling queezy the rest of the night. Most of the rest of the family ordered the country fried steak because we really didn't have any better options. The country fried steak was "ok", the sweet potato casserole was AWEFUL, the mashed potatoes and the hash brown casserole were the best tasting foods on the menu.
Overall, I'm thankful for my family and seriously disappointed about our first experience eating at this Cracker Barrel for thanksgiving. That bill was such a waste of money. I hope this restaurant is better prepared for the demand in the future or at least better communicates with its customers about the potential of them running out of food soon earlier, sparing us a 3 hour...
