We're Pouring — Restaurant in Glendale

After reading all the rave reviews, we had high hopes for this place. Boy was I disappointed.

Small food menu. Absurd prices for freezer-quality food, with portions embellished by the wait staff, who were clearly not happy to be there. Underseasoned freezer fries, sloppily-assembled greasy sliders. Sticky tables. Stained menus. No beer pricing listed anywhere, and very stingy about allowing a taste of the beer (industry standard ettiquette). No rhyme or reason for pricing - feels like they don't know how to justify the value of their product, so they're sneaky about it instead. Tiny parking lot.

If you have a higher set of standards for your food, you will be grossly disappointed here. There are too many nicer, better quality places at the same price point to warrant wasting an evening here.

We were seated at a table with no chairs, and had to flag down staff to bring one. After finally sitting down, we were informed that there are no drink menus for the tables. Instead, we were asked to get up and "take a picture of the menu on the wall behind the bar," after we just sat down. The patrons sitting at the bar who were also trying to enjoy their night were (reasonably) annoyed at people constantly walking up behind them and taking pictures. There is no clear view from the tables to the beer menu behind the bar.

I will preface with the fact that I never send food back. The kitchen staff is clearly undertrained, and/or not paid enough to care about sending out quality product. It's pretty hard to serve a bad salad. I was served a stemmy pile of unwashed radicchio in a bowl that was too small to eat from, with stale packaged bacon chunks and a plain, cold "poached" egg that obviously had been sitting out for some time, and no dressing. I politely requested that it be sent back. Our waitress bluntly responded with "this is how it's served." Which is always the wrong answer.

I indicated as politely as I could that it was the kitchen's fault, not hers, but that it was very disappointing and needed to be sent back. Thanked her again, and let her know I didn't want it remade (already not trusting the kitchen).

Didn't offer to comp a drink. Didn't ask my date if his food was alright. Didn't apologize. Rolled her eyes, glared down at me when I indicated I didn't want anything else, hung around the table too long and offered me an uncomfortably forced parental "I just want to make sure you're taken care of" in a failed attempt to save face, scooped up the dish and sent another waitress (who was doing a great job and was already very busy) to bring our check and clear our dishes so she didn't have to face us again.

Needless to say, this place won't be seeing any more...

Nice location. Has a parking lot. Serves beer, wine and food. Staff was nice but lacked etiquette. Problems are:

-They do not have a beer list printed (so you have to look at the list on the chalkboard, not a big deal but....) -They do not have beer pricing displayed ANYWHERE -They do not have beer flight pricing displayed ANYWHERE (and it turns out their flights are not priced like a typical taproom) Upon ordering they do not inform of the pricing. -They are stingy on giving customers a TASTE of the beer before ordering it (and we did not have or ask for any samples).

So do not go into this place assuming it's like any of the local breweries and taprooms in and around Glendale.

We took awhile to look at the beer list at the bar before ordering. Not once were we asked "what are you looking at" or "would you like to try anything". This would be normal bar/bartender etiquette. The only assistance we got was "what would you like to order?"

I do not know what We're Pouring base their flight pricing on but the 4 beers were priced differently: $2.75, $5.75, $6.00, $3.25; coming out to a $20 bill (after tax) + tip.

Normally a flight would be around $2 per beer; no discrimination on the ABV or whatever We're Pouring is considering when pricing their flight and NOT informing the customer of how they do so.

A customer next to us had asked to try a beer (one of the beers we were drinking and talked with the customer about) and the bartender refused and told her she would have to purchase a taster - maybe that was because it was one of the more expensive beers?

I am disappointed that I spent my money here instead of supporting one of the many local breweries or bars that I enjoy visiting. However, it was only one visit and it gave me a greater appreciation for those places. I wish We're Pouring luck and growth but I will not...

They have a great rotation of local (and not so local) brews. I got there​ early before my wife so I ordered a couple IPAs (State Brewing & Bottle Logic) and the freshly fried pork rinds at the bar. My goodness I couldn't put either down. The crowd seemed to be early dinner folks and post-work unwinders. Nothing rowdy though.

I moved to a booth when she arrived and we ordered the chicken wings, fried pickles, and garlic fries. All were a notch above standard bar food. The wings were fried naked leaving a crispy skin and most meat. They were delicious. The fried pickles (chips not spears because spears are awful) were among the best I've ever had. Highly recommend them. The garlic fries had fresh garlic and we're perfectly fried. Crispy outside, fluffy white potato inside.

There's a few tables outside to enjoy the night air. Maybe next time for us.

The bathrooms are very clean, though they might consider a mat under the urinal as that urinal design creates a bit of splash back on the floor.

Overall, the beers are a tad pricey to be a regular spot for me but we'll definitely be back for the food (plus a beer) on...
