My family took my 80-year-old mother-in-law to dinner on Friday night. We arrived about 7:30, waited about 25 minutes to be seated -- no big deal for a Friday night. A big party of 16 struggled with the manager to get seated right before us. When we got to our table, our waitress Felicia took drink orders. When she came back with them, we ordered an appetizer and our dinners. Felicia said she'd go get rolls for us. Maybe 10 minutes passed and Felicia came back to refill drinks, and asked if we wanted rolls. We thought she was getting them but apparently she wondered since we'd ordered nachos if we really wanted them. "Yes," we said we would like them and she soon returned with them. After about 20 or 25 minutes, our soggy chili nachos arrived. At some point -- perhaps 10 more minutes-- Felicia came by to take away out dirty dishes and refill drinks and to tell us our food was coming. We began to notice that people who sat down just ahead of us were finished with their meals. We waited. . At one point the manager Courtney sauntered by asking her apparently rhetorical "How's it going over here?" to which I reply as she's scurrying past "Not so good -- we don't have our food yet." Courtney never acknowledged me nor came back to check on us. I began to wonder just how long we had been waiting My husband said we'd been sitting there about 45 minutes by this point (that's in addition to our 20 minute wait for a table). So now I start quipping that we may as well leave -- "it's not like she's checking on us a lot to see how we're doing". My kids grimace because apparently Felicia was right behind me when I said it and she turned and went the other direction. About this time, the entire wait staff come to sing "Happy Birthday" to the table directly across from us -- the entire staff including Felicia our waitress and Courtney the manager. Not sure if that's Santa Fe's custom, but they made the birthday boy perform the chicken dance. Interesting. They have time for singing when customers haven't been served. I decide I'm going to get up and find the kitchen to see what is going on. I peer in and see Felicia talking to the kitchen staff. Perhaps she's urging them to get our food, not sure. The manager Courtney sees me and asks if I've been helped. "No, we don't have our food yet." I point out our table and she seems to go off to settle this matter. Courtney never comes back to us to tell us anything. For my husband, the birthday-singing chicken dance was the last straw. "Let's go," he said, "we've waited long enough." We all stand up and, lo and behold, here comes Felicia. "Your food is on its way". "It's too late, " my husband replies, "we can't wait any longer". It is close to 9:00 by this time. Felicia replies, "Wait just a minute." So we do, thinking surely she's going to get Courtney the manager to resolve this issue. No, she brings us our check for the soggy nachos. $15 for soggy nachos and 3 drinks (the others had water). As we leave, we try to find Courtney. That took a bit of hunting down but finally we found her to let her know our disappointment. Most establishments we frequent would have been appalled and at least comp'd the appetizer. Her only response was "I completely understand where you're coming from. Your food was the next up. We had two really large parties in here tonight." Sorry, Courtney, Felicia, Santa Fe Cattle Co. -- large parties are NO excuse for poor customer service! Our food should not have been the next up -- it should have been up 40 minutes before! Incredible lack of professionalism there. When we left, we saw some of the wait staff having a smoke break on the side of the building. Is that where Felicia had been all night? Did she lose our order? Not sure, but we won't be back and I highly suggest anyone thinks twice before going. Santa Fe owners -- you might do some staff evaluations -- Courtney and Felicia need some serious guidance on...
Read moreMy husband and I went yesterday evening for supper. Parking was good, they weren't too busy on a Thursday night but still they made us wait 10 minutes before seating us. After being seated our server was half attentive and forgot what we asked of him then tried to over charge us at then end of our meal. As far as the meal we ordered one of the two meals available for two people. The meal was fajita style and came with steak, chicken and ribs with your choice of " two sides and a salad" which is exactly what then menu states. I guoted that part because that's how we were almost overcharged! Our server and my husband went thru to clarify that we were able to choose two sides & side salad each for the meal and out server agreed that was correct but at the end of our meal tried to charge us for two add on salads instead of just the meal price! I don't know about you but "and" to me mean included with and "or" means an option to, right? I mean McDonald's don't say their combos come with the sandwich, fries and a drink and then charge extra for the drink, right? Anyway the quality of our meal was as follows: The steak , ( one steak cut in half) was good but the ribs, ( two very small short orders ) were dry and flavorless..... Finally the chicken ( two small patties, yes I said patties...lol) as well dry but had flavor. The sides we ordered the baked potato, ( paid $.99 extra for a very small amount of bacon & chives ) the steamed vegetables ( under steamed ) and of course our salads that was just lettuce in a bowl and just for the price of $40 for the meal, drinks costs extra of course an ice tea and soft drink. The total would have been about $46 with the side salads our server tried to charge us for. I don't know about you but for what we recieved that meal was a joke! We should of went to Chili's where we could of gotten a better quality meal for two deal. Lesson learned, trying to bundle and save doesn't work at this place! Oh and don't believe everything you read check the bill before you pay! I hope that your experience will be better than ours. P.S. I have included pics of left overs, yes you see tomatoes and cheese in the salad that because I ordered the salsa salad dressing and they put a little cheese on it...lol. but can you see all the bacon and chives I paid extra for?...
Read moreOur waitress, Chloe, was very kind. You could tell it was a busy night for them. My husband ordered the large bone-in ribeye medium rare. I ordered the steak tips medium rare. Both meats came back a bit dry to what we would consider overdone. My husband’s steak was medium well and my steak tips were cooked well done. Chloe, our waitress, said if that’s not acceptable then she would take them back. After a little debate, between ourselves, we don’t like to send back food and we’ve only done it once, years before at an Outback. This time my husband ordered his rare but I didn’t. I asked for medium rare. One of the Manager’s brought our food out and she was obviously not happy. She asked us to cut into the steaks to see if it was acceptable. My husband poked the outside and said he knew his would be okay. My husband apologized for sending it back and it being medium well. The Manager said, “well, if you would have cut into it deeper it would have been just perfect.” You buy the steak to have an even cooked steak, not one that is burnt on one side and raw on the other! The idea behind steak is that it is evenly cooked! My husband poked his steak and knew he could eat it. I cut into mine and it was rare and inedible for me but I didn’t bother to say anything. We never send anything back twice. The Manager, in a snippy manner, said, “the other steak was perfect.” My husband said, “I’ve cooked enough steak to know what they feel like. I can eat the meat under a branding iron and consider it cooked.” So, the steaks, at least for us on this day, were a miss. I hope the Manager has a better day tomorrow. God Bless Chloe who was stuck in the middle. We will eat here again despite the miss. I won’t eat the steak tips again, I’ll find something else to eat. Their...
