UPDATE: June 15, 2025: Since the original post, we've gone back twice. Sat outdoors. Outdoor seating (upstairs and down) was fun. Both times there was a young person who asked us of we would like to order beer - this meant we did not have to serve our own beer, yeah! Atmosphere is upbeat, what you would expect for a new, well crafted place. It's loud, but it's a new hip place. Food was still excellent, even if you have to be your own waiter. ORIGINAL REVIEW: Third time visiting the Station. Went on tuesday because we saw a taco tuesday ad on FB and thought it would be fun to try out their Taco Tuesday deal. Unfortunately, no taco tuesday was available, So I ordered a chicken sandwich. It was good, but cold - mostly due to missing the text message that my order was ready - more on that later. Service, okay if you walk up to the bar and wait for assistance, or ask for it. No one is really working the floor so to speak. It's seat yourself and for the most part, you're on your own. The model for ordering is to use an app on your phone. You order, then you wait until the order is ready then you serve yourself. You get a text after you order. YOU HAVE TO watch your phone. I'm not a big phone watcher, and I turn off the volume etc when i'm trying to enjoy my time and not be interrupted by my phone (my mistake because you have to watch your phone). I missed the text message so my food was cold. No one said or did anything, even though there were only a few tables. My food sat there for 15 minutes before I realized what I had done - again, I go out to eat so I don't have to keep track of things like this. I'm not a fan of this kind of business model. No one goes out to dinner and pays top dollar for food and drinks, then serves their own table and watches their phone for a text message. Having two bills (one bar, one food) is also strange, especially when they automatically ask you for a gratuity for food service even when there's no wait service. Sure, there's a cook, but maybe a tip jar for that. I won't tip when there's no service. The bar still has to keep your CC on hand, which again is kind of strange. Generally, the place is clean, open, airy, but it feels like it's already becoming "clicky" in that the people working there are in their own space. I did not feel welcome and this was my third visit, with a similar feeling. This is my personal view, it does not make it a bad place, it's just not my style. We will likely return when the weather warms and there is outside seating. It might liven up the staff and create a more warming, welcoming atmosphere, but I can't say I like that there's two bills, the bar has to keep your CC and if you don't have a phone, or are not watching for notifications you might miss a warm meal. 3 out of 5. We will give it one more try. . . Again food was good enough to not let...
Read moreThings I liked and did not like: The service was wonderful. The second we walked it a kind woman was explaining how to menus worked and was very welcoming. So was everyone we interacted with. The environment is also great. Clean, creative idea, reminded me of an upscale mall foodcourt. Games in the back for kids. Wonderful seating, even a coffee shop which would be lovely to read and do homework/work-work in them. A bar and TV’s as well, a very dynamic space and I praise the owners for creating something interesting for our city. The food was also all plated very nicely which I’m a sucker for. Did not like: I was sort of disappointed with the menus themselves. I would love to see the Italian menu have a sort of pasta dish and was disappointed it didn’t, especially since there are very few places to get a good pasta in this city. I got a crispy shrimp bowl and my husband got a burger/fries and donuts. My shrimp bowl had wayyy too much pickled-vegetable taste between the cucumber and the onion, It was overwhelming the rest of the flavors making it potent sour dish and I couldn’t finish it. The burger was good, the fries were clearly fresh cut and tasted like an actual potato which I appreciated but could use a little more seasoning. The donuts were very dry, almost stale or too airy of a dough. I will be coming again, I love the idea of this place and what it’s trying to execute as well as the kind employees. I believe the menus items could use some revising/tweaking and although it looked great, I wouldn’t get the...
Read moreI was not impressed/will not be back. It's just another bar serving bar food - nothing different from what we already have in town, other than they've been inspired by Walmart's self-checkout (self-serve, including plastic utensils)... You have to order your food on an app or a kiosk. You have to get up & go get it yourself, including drinks. There is no service, other than a gal at the front who has to tell you how it works when you come in (I don't think it's a good sign if you have to get directions for eating out). It was annoying with a group of 6 (it would have been annoying anyway). We were constantly getting up to get something. The menu is actually small, considering there are four different kitchens. There's less than a dozen items offered by each. I ordered 3 pork tacos. They were $15 - not worth it (you can get 4 for $10 @ Magpie). I literally had to go get something else to eat b/c I was still hungry. What I saw of everyone else's orders at my table, the food is definitely not worth the price - mine definitely was not. There was very little on the "menus" that even sounded appealing. It was loud in there. I couldn't hear what other people at my table were saying, the short amount of time we were all actually at the table. I felt like I was eating at the airport, without the fun destination. Worst of all is how they ruined the beautiful, historic Milwaukee Station by attaching apartments to it; sad for...
